New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is lowering the expectations of wide receiver Josh Gordon, who the Patriots acquired via a trade on Monday. "You know, I hate to make projections and expectations. That's not fair," Brady told Jim Gray on Westwood One on Monday night. "I've never met Josh personally, just like I hadn't met some of the guys that have come in the last couple weeks. So we'll see how it goes this week and hopefully he can work hard, put the team first and end up helping us in any role that he can find for himself on the team." He also cautioned that it could take time to develop chemistry with Gordon. The embattled receiver surely upgrades New England's receiving room with Julian Edelman suspended two weeks, but it'll depend on whether Gordon can clean up his act and learn this offense quickly enough. It's unclear if Gordon will be active in Week 3 against the Lions on Sunday night. If he is, he'll be a boom-or-bust WR3.
New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady completed 24 of 35 passes for 234 yards and two touchdowns in the Patriots 31-20 loss to the Jaguars. The Patriots offense was held to three points in the first half and Brady struggled to work the ball downfield. Brady staged a mini-rally in the fourth quarter but a strip-sack turnover took the Patriots out of the field goal range and the chance to cut the deficit to one touchdown. The Jaguars have one of the top defenses in the league so better days are ahead for Brady's fantasy numbers in the weeks ahead.
New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady will face his first test of the season, taking on a tough Jaguars defense in Jacksonville for Week 2. The Jaguars have to be thirsty for revenge after Brady and Co. edged Jacksonville 24-20 in the 2017 AFC Championship Game. Brady completed 26 of 38 passes in that game for 290 yards and two touchdowns en route to his eighth Super Bowl appearance. The Jaguars defense is as good as it gets and allowed the fewest fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks while intercepting more passes (21) than allowing touchdowns (17) in 2017. Of all the weeks to have tempered expectations for the Brady in fantasy, this would be the week.
