Cam Akers News
Los Angeles Rams running back Cam Akers (Achilles) said at mandatory minicamp that he's 100% healthy, and The Athletic's Jourdan Rodrigue expects Akers to have a higher volume of pass-catching opportunities in the offense this year. Some fantasy managers may be worried that he had just 2.4 yards per carry and 2.31 yards after contact per attempt after returning in the postseason from a preseason torn Achilles. But Akers, from all accounts, will be fully healthy entering the 2022 regular season and should be the team's go-to backfield option in an explosive offense. Rodrigue has no reason to believe that Akers won't be productive as a top-20 fantasy back this year, for what it's worth.
Los Angeles Rams running backs Cam Akers and Darrell Henderson were not present at organized team activities this week. Henderson is dealing with an undisclosed soft-tissue injury, and it's not specified whether Akers is rehabbing an injury, but the Rams are being careful with players who are returning from significant injuries last year. As a result, Jake Funk and fifth-rounder Kyren Williams took the bulk of the RB snaps at workouts. Both Akers and Henderson missed time due to injuries in 2021, so it shouldn't be a huge surprise that they weren't on the field this week. When both are healthy, Henderson should serve as a complement to Akers, who figures to be the lead back.
Los Angeles Rams running back Cam Akers and the team's ground game just could never get it going in the 23-20 win over the Cincinnati Bengals in Super Bowl LVI on Sunday. Akers carried the ball a team-high 13 times for only 21 yards (1.6 yards per carry) and added three catches for 14 yards on four targets. The 22-year-old averaged less than three yards a carry in four playoff games for the Rams, but you have to remember that he suffered a torn Achilles back in training camp last summer. It was a small miracle that he played at all this year. The 22-year-old will have all offseason to train ahead of his third season in the NFL, where he should be the Rams bell-cow back. Especially with Sony Michel likely to depart in free agency, Akers will have a clear path to RB1 utility in this Rams offense in 2022.

UPDATE: Sadly Cam Akers is out for the year after tearing his Achilles prior to training camp. Because of that, he should not be drafted except in dynasty leagues, but you can read below for what could have been for 2021. Meanwhile, Darrell ...
