George Holani Leads Seattle's Backfield in Carries on Saturday

Seattle Seahawks running back George Holani played with the No. 2 offense in Saturday's preseason opener against the Dallas Cowboys. He recorded 12 carries for 42 yards. While Holani's performance was not indicative of much, his presence on the field suggested that rookie running back Jadarian Price may have already usurped him on the depth chart. Price did not play on Saturday, along with all of the first-team skill players. The Seahawks have made it clear all offseason that Holani is part of their plan for 2026. However, this game suggests that he may be little more than an insurance back for fantasy this season. If Price opens the year as the lead back, and Zach Charbonnet eventually returns from injury, Holani could become a bit of an afterthought.

George Holani is Listed as RB1 on Depth Chart

Seattle Seahawks running back George Holani is listed as the top back on the first unofficial depth chart, according to Field Gulls. This doesn't mean too much considering they haven't played any preseason games yet, but it's an interesting development. The expectation is that Holani and first-round pick Jadarian Price are going to compete for the starting gig during the preseason. It seemed like the team was leaning towards Price as the early down back, but maybe they've changed their tune. Zach Charbonnet (knee) is still recovering from a torn ACL, but he figures to be the lead back once he's healthy again. Holani or Price are likely only placeholders until Charbonnet is ready to go.

George Holani Expected to Handle Passing-Down Work

Seattle Seahawks running back George Holani is getting passing-down work with the first-team offense while Zach Charbonnet remains on the PUP list. Seattle Times Sports reported that Holani and rookie Jadarian Price have split most of the snaps with the starters, with Holani expected to handle third downs and two-minute situations while Price leans toward the early-down role. That gives Holani a defined lane in Seattle's backfield, though Charbonnet's eventual return could change the rotation. The 5-foot-11, 210-pound back had 22 carries for 73 yards and a touchdown in 11 regular-season games last year, then caught four passes for 34 yards after returning from injured reserve during Seattle's playoff run. That postseason usage offers some evidence that the Seahawks trust him in passing situations. Holani is not yet a clear redraft target, but his first-team work makes him worth monitoring in deeper PPR leagues while Charbonnet remains sidelined.

George Holani Handling Most First-Team Reps Early in Camp

Seattle Seahawks running back George Holani has been first through Thomas Hammock's position drills and has handled most of the first-team backfield work through two training camp practices, according to The News Tribune. First-round rookie Jadarian Price has also rotated into the starting offense, so Holani's early placement does not make him the established starter. The 5-foot-11, 210-pound Holani appeared in 11 regular-season games in 2025, rushing 22 times for 73 yards and one touchdown while catching two passes for 15 yards. After returning from injured reserve in the postseason, he stepped into the No. 2 role following Zach Charbonnet's knee injury and recorded five carries for 10 yards and four receptions for 34 yards across the NFC Championship Game and Super Bowl. Charbonnet (knee) opened camp on the PUP list with no return timetable, creating additional opportunities for Holani and Price. Holani's receiving and pass-protection ability could help him earn a complementary role, but Price's first-round investment remains a major obstacle to dependable fantasy value.

Seahawks High on George Holani, Could Give him a Good Chunk of Work

ESPN's Brady Henderson writes that the Seattle Seahawks are "high on" running back George Holani and, by all appearances, "plan to give him a good chunk of work" alongside rookie Jadarian Price and Emanuel Wilson. Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III is now in Kansas City, so as the Seahawks wait for Zach Charbonnet (knee) to return from a torn ACL, they figure to involve Holani, Price, and Wilson in what is shaping up to be a three-man committee to open the 2026 season. The 26-year-old Holani, an undrafted free agent out of Boise State, had just three carries and one catch in five games as a rookie in 2024. He carried the ball 22 times for 22 yards and a touchdown and caught both of his targets for 15 yards in 11 regular-season games in a limited role in Year 2 in 2025. Fantasy managers in redraft leagues don't have a ton of incentive to target Holani with Charbonnet expected back at some point in 2026, and he will most likely be competing with Wilson for short-yardage and goal-line situations as a power back at 5-foot-11 and 210 pounds. Holani is currently outside of RotoBaller's top-80 fantasy RBs for the 2026 season.

George Holani Falling Off Fantasy Radars Ahead of Training Camp

Seahawks running back George Holani carried the ball a combined five times for 10 yards in Seattle's Conference Championship and Super Bowl wins. With Zach Charbonnet tearing his ACL in a Divisional Round victory over the 49ers, Holani served as the primary backup to eventual Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III, who would go on to sign a deal with the Chiefs in free agency. For a brief moment in the offseason, there was speculation that Holani could come into 2026 as the team's lead back, though that buzz has quieted since Seattle spent its first-round pick on Notre Dame's Jadarian Price. With the Seahawks' first practice of training camp scheduled for Saturday, Price will have every opportunity to carve out a primary role while Charbonnet continues the rehabilitation that saw him working on a side field during the final session of mandatory minicamp. Holani is a player who can't be fully ignored at the start of camp, but with an expectation that he will soon be passed over on the depth chart, he is unlikely to hold much of a fantasy-relevant role in 2026.

George Holani Unlikely to Factor into 2026 Drafts

With Zach Charbonnet tearing his ACL in the Seahawks' divisional round win over the 49ers, Seattle bumped 2024 undrafted running back George Holani into a primary backup role behind Kenneth Walker III for the rest of its Super Bowl-winning playoff run. While Walker would go on to win the Super Bowl MVP and earn a top-of-market deal with the Kansas City Chiefs, Holani saw a combined five carries for 10 yards in the Conference Championship and Super Bowl, and while early offseason rumblings had him in play for a potential starting role in 2026, he's now far more likely to continue serving as little more than an NFL depth piece and special teams contributor. Seattle spent its first-round pick on Notre Dame running back Jadarian Price, and Charbonnet is reportedly progressing well, even seen on the field performing a light workout in the final practice of minicamp. At RotoBaller's RB106, Holani has little chance of carving out any true dynasty relevance, and he should be viewed as a non-factor in 2026 redraft leagues.

George Holani Still Getting First-Team Reps

As was the case during voluntary organized team activities, Seattle Seahawks running back George Holani got the first reps with the starting unit during the media-accessible practice sessions of mandatory minicamp. He continued to be spelled by first-round pick Jadaraian Price, but unlike the opening weeks of spring, Price was reportedly given entire drives with the starting offense. Holani's receiving and pass-blocking work made him easy to trust in relief of the injured Zach Charbonnet during the team's Super Bowl run, but with the rookie already taking on a larger responsibility and Charbonnet spotted doing rehab work for the first time since he tore his ACL in January, Holani's spot atop the depth chart seems tentative at best.

Is George Holani Worthy of a Deep-League Dynasty Roster Spot?

Across 11 games in 2025, Seattle Seahawks running back George Holani recorded just 88 scrimmage yards and a touchdown on 24 touches. The 26-year-old spent the year blocked from regular playing time by Seattle's potent running back duo of Kenneth Walker III and Zach Charbonnet (knee). Walker III departed Seattle in free agency, and Charbonnet's status for the start of 2026 is in doubt as he works his way back from the torn ACL that he suffered during Seattle's NFC Divisional Round win over the San Francisco 49ers in mid-January. However, Holani's place on the depth chart remains uncertain following the Seahawks' use of a first-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft on running back Jadarian Price and their free agent acquisition of running back Emanuel Wilson. With Charbonnet expected to miss the beginning of the upcoming season, Holani could carve out a regular role in Seattle. However, he could also remain limited to RB3 duties if he cannot beat out Wilson and/or Price emerges as a star. Holani could be worth rostering in deeper dynasty leagues, but his profile comes with risk.

George Holani's Dynasty Outlook Remains Cloudy

Even though the Seattle Seahawks let Super Bowl MVP running back Kenneth Walker III walk in free agency, George Holani's dynasty outlook going into his third year in the NFL isn't much clearer. To help replace Walker and the injured Zach Charbonnet (knee), Seattle drafted Notre Dame RB Jadarian Price and signed Emanuel Wilson in free agency. Charbonnet is fully expected to miss the beginning of the 2026 season after tearing his ACL in the postseason, so Holani should have a backfield role with the Seahawks as a short-yardage/goal-line option while competing with Wilson. The 26-year-old former undrafted free agent out of Boise State has had a very limited role in Seattle in his first two seasons with the team, combining for just 25 carries, 83 rushing yards, and one touchdown in his 16 regular-season games played, adding only three catches for 14 yards. The 5-foot-11, 210-pound power back has some sneaky speed for his size, and he could add some pass-game reps if he can prove to the coaching staff this summer that he's up to the task. Holani's long-term upside with the organization still looks bleak, though, after the addition of Price, and he's currently RotoBaller's No. 94 RB in dynasty formats.
