George Holani, Cam Akers to be Used in Backup Roles on Sunday

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Seattle Seahawks running backs George Holani and Cam Akers are expected to be used in backup roles in Sunday's NFC Championship game against the division-rival Los Angeles Rams, with some work expected for each player. Zach Charbonnet (knee) suffered a season-ending torn ACL in the Divisional Round win over the San Francisco 49ers, so Kenneth Walker III will become Seattle's workhorse RB. Holani was just activated from Injured Reserve this week and last played in Week 12, so he most likely won't have a big change-of-pace role this weekend behind Walker. In 11 games during the regular season, Holani had only 22 rushing attempts for 73 yards and one touchdown. Akers didn't join the Seahawks until midseason, and he's still looking for his first carry with the team. Neither Holani nor Akers should be in fantasy playoff lineups.

George Holani Returning for NFC Championship Game

Seattle Seahawks running back George Holani (hamstring) was removed from the team's final injury report on Friday and will be active for the NFC Championship game on Sunday against the division-rival Los Angeles Rams, according to Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic. Holani was placed on Injured Reserve on Nov. 29, but he was activated this week and will help give the Seahawks more backfield depth after Zach Charbonnet (knee) suffered a season-ending torn ACL in last weekend's Divisional Round win over the San Francisco 49ers. Kenneth Walker III should handle a big workload as the team's RB1 against the Rams, but Holani could be the RB2 in his first game back. Fantasy managers shouldn't have high expectations for Holani in his first time back on the field, though, and he could even share touches with Velus Jones Jr. He had only 22 carries during the regular season for 73 yards and one TD.

Seahawks Activate George Holani From Injured Reserve

The Seattle Seahawks activated running back George Holani (hamstring) from Injured Reserve on Friday ahead of Sunday's NFC Championship game versus the division-rival Los Angeles Rams, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. Holani originally landed on IR on Nov. 29, but after practicing in full on Wednesday and Thursday, he's trending in the right direction to be active for this weekend's big game. It's great timing for the 26-year-old, too, as he could operate as Seattle's RB2 behind starter Kenneth Walker III if he's active after Zach Charbonnet (knee) tore his ACL in the Divisional Round win over the San Francisco 49ers. Even though Holani is trending up going into the NFC Championship, he won't be recommended for starting lineups in playoff leagues if he suits up. Holani last played on Nov 23, and he had 22 carries for 73 yards and one touchdown in his 11 regular-season games in 2025.

George Holani is an Option to Play in NFC Championship

Seattle Seahawks running back George Holani (hamstring), who was activated from Injured Reserve on Wednesday, is in "great shape" and could play in Sunday's NFC Championship game against the division-rival Los Angeles Rams, according to head coach Mike Macdonald. It's excellent timing for the Seahawks, who lost Zach Charbonnet (knee) to a torn ACL in the Divisional Round win over the San Francisco 49ers. Kenneth Walker III should see an elevated backfield role this weekend, regardless of whether Holani returns to the fold after landing on IR back in late November. If the 26-year-old isn't ready to return for the NFC Championship, the Seahawks will choose between Velus Jones Jr. or Cam Akers as the RB2 behind Walker. Before his injury, Holani had 22 carries for 73 yards and one touchdown in 11 games, adding two catches for 15 yards. UPDATE: Holani was a full participant in practice on Wednesday.

George Holani Activated From Injured Reserve

The Seattle Seahawks activated running back George Holani (hamstring) from Injured Reserve on Wednesday, according to John Boyle of Seahawks.com. Now that Holani is back and ready to rejoin the team at practice, he'll be an option to play in the NFC Championship game this Sunday against the division-rival Los Angeles Rams. Holani opened the year as the team's RB3 behind Kenneth Walker III and Zach Charbonnet (knee) and as a key special teams player, but he injured his hamstring in the Week 12 win over the Tennessee Titans and has been sidelined since. Before his injury, Holani had 22 carries for 73 yards and a touchdown and added two catches for 15 yards. Seattle needs RB depth after Charbonnet tore his ACL in the Divisional Round win over the 49ers, but there's no guarantee that Holani would take on a notable role behind Walker this weekend if he's active, given the long layoff while on IR.

George Holani Could Come Off Injured Reserve This Week

Seattle Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald said that running back George Holani (hamstring) could come off Injured Reserve to join the team this week as they prepare to face the division-rival Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Championship game on Sunday, according to The Athletic's Michael-Shawn Dugar. "George is an option, yeah. We'll see how it goes this week," Macdonald said. The Seahawks could use Holani the rest of the playoffs after it was announced on Monday that Zach Charbonnet (knee) tore his ACL in Saturday's Divisional Round win over the San Francisco 49ers. Velus Jones Jr. saw six carries for 10 yards after Charbonnet was injured, but he was sent back to the practice squad on Monday. If Holani isn't available to play this weekend, the Seahawks will have the option of elevating either Jones or Cam Akers to serve as Kenneth Walker III's backup against the Rams.

George Holani Hits Injured Reserve

Per the team, Seattle Seahawks running back George Holani (hamstring) has been placed on injured reserve due to a hamstring injury picked up in last weekend's 30-24 win over the Tennessee Titans. The Boise State product will now miss at least the next four games, with his earliest return date coming for the team's outing against the Carolina Panthers in Week 17. In a corresponding move, Seattle signed veteran RB Myles Gaskin from their practice squad to the active roster. While Gaskin may work intermittently in place of Holani, he'll still be a distant third option behind teammates Kenneth Walker III and Zach Charbonnet in the Seahawks' backfield. Seattle's ground attack will get a dream matchup in Week 13 against a struggling Minnesota rush defense.

George Holani Ruled Out for Remainder of Week 12 with Hamstring Injury

Seattle Seahawks running back George Holani (hamstring) has been ruled out for the remainder of his team's Week 12 matchup against the Tennessee Titans due to a hamstring injury. The 25-year-old did not record a carry or earn a target before exiting the game. Holani plays the RB3 role in Seattle behind Kenneth Walker III and Zach Charbonnet. Without Holani, Walker III and Charbonnet will now handle all of the Seahawks' backfield work for the remainder of Week 12. More information on the severity of Holani's injury should come following the game.

George Holani Makes Seahawks' Roster as RB3

Seattle Seahawks running back George Holani has made the team's roster and will open the season as the third option on the depth chart, according to Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic. Holani turned heads this preseason by rushing for 110 yards and one touchdown on 12 attempts. He's also a candidate to return kicks during the regular season. Holani beat out Damien Martinez, a seventh-round rookie from the University of Miami. Kenneth Walker III's injury history could give Holani more fantasy intrigue, but he's still not worth rostering in most redraft leagues.

George Holani Averages Almost 10 Yards Per Carry in Preseason Week 2

Seattle Seahawks running back George Holani recorded five carries for 49 yards in Seattle's preseason win over the Chiefs on Friday night. Holani is currently slotted as the team's No. 3 running back behind Zach Charbonnet and Kenneth Walker III. He did nothing to give up ground to running back Damien Martinez for the No. 3 spot despite Martinez having a solid game himself. Holani was an undrafted free agent in 2024, spending much of the season as a special teams player. He has played well throughout the preseason, having amassed 110 rushing yards and a touchdown on just 12 carries. The Seahawks may have found themselves a gem of a solid depth piece at running back in Holani. He will have one more chance to cement himself as the team's No. 3 back in preseason Week 3 against the Packers next Saturday.
