Dante Fowler Jr. News
The Atlanta Falcons placed defensive end Dante Fowler on the Reserve/COVID-19 list. Fowler has 17 combined tackles, six quarterback hits and two sacks in eight games so far this season. He was inactive for the team's most recent game in Week 9 against the Broncos due to a hamstring issue. It's unknown if Fowler himself tested positive for COVID-19 or if he was deemed a high-risk close contact of someone else that tested positive. The good news is that the Falcons are on their bye this week, so there's a chance that Fowler will be cleared from the league's COVID-19 protocols in time for their Week 11 game against the division-rival Saints.
The Atlanta Falcons are signing pass-rusher Dante Fowler to a three-year, $48 million deal on Wednesday. Atlanta can use all the pass-rush help they can get, and the move reunites Fowler with head coach Dan Quinn, as the two worked together in college at Florida. The 25-year-old was excellent in his only full season with the Rams in 2019, recording a career-high 11.5 sacks, 58 tackles (40 solo), 16 tackles for loss, 16 QB hits, six passes defensed, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery for a touchdown in 16 games (14 starts). Hopefully he can keep it going in his new home and remain on the IDP radar.
Los Angeles Rams linebackers Dante Fowler and Cory Littleton are both candidates to receive the franchise tag, and they are both expected to earn significant multi-year offers from other teams if they reach free agency. Fowler had a career-high 11.5 sacks in 2019, while Littleton has led the team in tackles the last two seasons while also picking off five passes. The Rams have limited salary cap space as well, and the franchise tag for linebackers is expected to exceed last year's $15.4 million mark. It's unlikely that both Fowler and Littleton will be back in 2020.
