Dante Fowler Jr. Heading Back To Cowboys

Free-agent veteran pass-rusher Dante Fowler Jr. is reuniting with the Dallas Cowboys on a one-year deal worth up to $8 million, sources told NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. Fowler will return to Dallas after playing for the Cowboys in 2022 and 2023. The 30-year-old veteran linebacker spent last year with the division-rival Washington Commanders, where he excelled with 39 tackles (25 solo), 10.5 sacks (the second-most in his career), 14 tackles for loss, 12 QB hits, his first career interception (returned for a touchdown) and two forced fumbles in 17 regular-season games (seven starts). He will return to Dallas in 2025 as the Cowboys hope that he can pick up some of the pass-rushing slack opposite of All-Pro Micah Parsons after DeMarcus Lawrence left in free agency. In his two seasons with Dallas, Fowler had a combined 10 sacks. He's been a boom/bust pass-rusher in IDP fantasy formats.

Dante Fowler Jr. Reuniting With Dan Quinn In Washington

Free-agent edge rusher Dante Fowler Jr. is signing a one-year deal with the Washington Commanders, according to Nicki Jhabvala of the Washington Post. Fowler has spent the last two seasons with the Dallas Cowboys under Dan Quinn, so he'll be familiar with the defensive scheme in Washington right away. The 2015 No. 3 overall pick has 45 sacks through his first nine seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Los Angeles Rams, Atlanta Falcons, and Dallas Cowboys. He's never quite lived up to his draft capital, but he's a solid rotational pass rusher, and NFL teams can never have enough of those. Fowler is the third player from last year's Cowboys team to sign with Washington, joining center Tyler Biadasz and defensive end Dorance Armstrong.

Cowboys To Re-Sign Dante Fowler To One-Year Deal

The Dallas Cowboys will re-sign defensive end Dante Fowler to an undisclosed one-year deal on Tuesday, according to a person with knowledge of the signing. The former third overall pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2015 finished with 27 tackles (22 solo), six sacks, seven tackles for loss, nine QB hits and two forced fumbles in 17 regular season games (no starts) in his first year in Big D in 2022. The 28-year-old played only 329 defensive snaps as a rotation pass-rusher for Dallas next to DeMarcus Lawrence, Dorance Armstrong and Micah Parsons. Expect Fowler to be used in a similar fashion on defense in 2023, which will make him a boom/bust fantasy asset in IDP leagues.

Cowboys Still Working To Re-Sign Dante Fowler

The Dallas Cowboys are "still working on" trying to re-sign defensive end Dante Fowler, according to a league source. Fowler impressed in a rotational role in his first season in Dallas in 2022, finishing with 27 tackles (22 solo), six sacks, seven tackles for loss, nine QB hits and two forced fumbles in 17 games (zero starts). The 28-year-old hasn't lived up to his billing as the third overall pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2015, but he has racked up 41 sacks in his seven NFL seasons with the Cowboys, Jaguars, Los Angeles Rams and Atlanta Falcons. It looks likely that he'll stay in Dallas and rush the passer alongside heavyweights Micah Parsons and DeMarcus Lawrence.

Falcons Release Dante Fowler Wednesday

The Atlanta Falcons released linebacker Dante Fowler on Wednesday. His 2022 season was voided after his last restructure, so he'll become a free agent before the new league year begins. The 27-year-old signed a three-year, $48 million deal in March of 2020, but he later took a pay cut for last season. Fowler will now have the advantage of being able to sign with any team before free agency actually begins. The third overall pick of the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2015 had 7.5 sacks, 33 solo tackles, 10 tackles for loss, 16 QB hits and four forced fumbles in 28 games (19 starts) in his two seasons with the Falcons the last two years. His best season came in 2019 in his final year with the Los Angeles Rams, when he recorded a career-best 11.5 sacks in 16 games.

Dante Fowler Back For Week 10

The Atlanta Falcons activated linebacker Dante Fowler (knee) from Injured Reserve on Saturday, and he is active for the Week 10 game against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. In a corresponding move, the team placed linebacker Steven Means (knee) on IR, which means he'll miss at least the next three games. Fowler was playing much better prior to getting injured, so his return will be a big boost for a Falcons defense looking to slow down a Cowboys team that will be eager to put last week's upset loss to the Denver Broncos in their rearview mirror. Fowler is currently tied for the team lead in sacks with two and has looked like their best edge rusher so far in 2021. With Means out, Ade Ogundeji, James Vaughters and Brandon Copeland will hope to take advantage with Cowboys offensive tackle Tyron Smith (ankle) out.

Dante Fowler Lands On Injured Reserve

The Atlanta Falcons placed edge rusher Dante Fowler (knee) on Injured Reserve on Friday, meaning that he will miss at least the next three games. Losing Fowler will be a significant blow to an already shaky Falcons defense, and they will have to lean more on rookie Ade Ogundeji in the coming weeks. Jacob Tuioti-Mariner will also see increased playing time off the edge opposite Steven Means, with Brandon Copeland being another option. Fowler leads the Falcons this year with two sacks, two forced fumbles and 13 QB pressures, according to Pro Football Focus. Atlanta ranks 29th in the NFL through six games with just nine sacks, and they won't be a recommended streaming option in fantasy in Week 7, even against the Miami Dolphins.

Falcons Place Dante Fowler On COVID-19 List

The Atlanta Falcons placed defensive end Dante Fowler on the Reserve/COVID-19 list. Fowler has 17 combined tackles, six quarterback hits and two sacks in eight games so far this season. He was inactive for the team's most recent game in Week 9 against the Broncos due to a hamstring issue. It's unknown if Fowler himself tested positive for COVID-19 or if he was deemed a high-risk close contact of someone else that tested positive. The good news is that the Falcons are on their bye this week, so there's a chance that Fowler will be cleared from the league's COVID-19 protocols in time for their Week 11 game against the division-rival Saints.

Falcons Signing Dante Fowler

The Atlanta Falcons are signing pass-rusher Dante Fowler to a three-year, $48 million deal on Wednesday. Atlanta can use all the pass-rush help they can get, and the move reunites Fowler with head coach Dan Quinn, as the two worked together in college at Florida. The 25-year-old was excellent in his only full season with the Rams in 2019, recording a career-high 11.5 sacks, 58 tackles (40 solo), 16 tackles for loss, 16 QB hits, six passes defensed, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery for a touchdown in 16 games (14 starts). Hopefully he can keep it going in his new home and remain on the IDP radar.

Dante Fowler, Cory Littleton Candidates For Franchise Tag

Los Angeles Rams linebackers Dante Fowler and Cory Littleton are both candidates to receive the franchise tag, and they are both expected to earn significant multi-year offers from other teams if they reach free agency. Fowler had a career-high 11.5 sacks in 2019, while Littleton has led the team in tackles the last two seasons while also picking off five passes. The Rams have limited salary cap space as well, and the franchise tag for linebackers is expected to exceed last year's $15.4 million mark. It's unlikely that both Fowler and Littleton will be back in 2020.
