The San Francisco 49ers signed free-agent tight end Eric Saubert to an undisclosed one-year deal on Monday. Saubert was initially drafted in the fifth round (174th overall) by the Atlanta Falcons in 2017 out of Drake. The 29-year-old spent the first two years of his NFL career in Atlanta before stops with the Chicago Bears, Jacksonville Jaguars, Denver Broncos, Dallas Cowboys and Houston Texans. He was with the Cowboys and Texans in 2023 and caught all three of his targets for 12 yards in 10 games (one start). Saubert has 36 career receptions on 55 targets for 292 yards and two touchdowns in 84 games (16 starts) in his seven NFL seasons. In San Francisco this year, Saubert will operate as tight end depth behind starter George Kittle alongside Brayden Willis, Cameron Latu and Jake Tonges.
Brevin Jordan, Eric Saubert In Line For Bigger Roles In Week 13
Houston Texans tight ends Brevin Jordan and Eric Saubert will see bigger roles in Week 13 against the Denver Broncos with Dalton Schultz (hamstring) already ruled out for the contest. Jordan will likely fill in as Schultz's replacement on Sunday, while Saubert will act as the TE2 for Houston. Both tight ends have a great matchup in Week 13 against a Broncos secondary that is giving up the most fantasy points per game to tight ends this season. Jordan should have more of an impact in this game but should only be started in deep formats or tight end premium leagues.
Texans Sign Eric Saubert Off Cowboys Practice Squad
The Houston Texans signed tight end Eric Saubert off the Dallas Cowboys practice squad on Tuesday. Saubert played with the Cowboys in Week 8, playing just 14 special teams snaps. But since Houston is dealing with several injuries to its tight end group, they signed the 29-year-old for depth purposes. With Teagan Quitoriano (groin) placed on the injured reserve list and Brevin Jordan (foot) expected to miss some time, Saubert will likely backup starter Dalton Schultz. However, he doesn't carry much fantasy value, even in tight end premium leagues.
Denver Broncos tight ends Eric Saubert (knee) and Eric Tomlinson (ankle) are officially active for Week 18 against the Los Angeles Chargers. Both players had been questionable after practicing in a limited capacity on Friday. With Greg Dulcich on IR, Saubert stepped up last week, catching three passes for 30 yards. Meanwhile, Tomlinson saw a solid 33 percent snap share but was not targeted in Week 17. Both players are a bit too risky to trust in this week's fantasy championships.
Denver Broncos tight end Eric Saubert should start and be the team's primary pass-catching tight end for the final two games of the season after the Broncos placed rookie Greg Dulcich (hamstring) on Injured Reserve on Friday. Behind Dulcich, Saubert has been the Broncos' second-leading tight end this year in catches (12), targets (21) and receiving yards (118) while scoring one touchdown in 15 games. He'll be facing a Kansas City Chiefs defense that has allowed the eighth-most half-PPR fantasy points to TEs in the last three weeks, but fantasy managers can't trust Saubert in Denver's lackluster offense. Fellow tight ends Eric Tomlinson and Albert Okwuegbunam could be more involved as well, and both receivers Jerry Jeudy (ankle) and Courtland Sutton should be quarterback Russell Wilson's favorite targets.
Denver Broncos tight end Eric Saubert (ankle) is listed as questionable for Monday Night Football against the Los Angeles Chargers. He was limited in practice all week long, meaning he has a realistic chance to play this week as long as he doesn't suffer a setback. The 28-year-old logged an impressive five catches and 36 yards last week, but with the Broncos distributing the football to a variety of tight ends, Saubert doesn't have standalone fantasy value.
Eric Saubert Secures Season-High Five Catches In Week 5
Denver Broncos tight end Eric Saubert outplayed teammate Albert Okwuegbunam in the Week 5 loss to the Indianapolis Colts on Thursday night. Saubert played 56 percent of the team's offensive snaps in the 12-9 overtime loss, catching a season-high five passes on seven targets for 36 yards. Meanwhile, Okwuegbunam played 21 percent of the snaps and caught his only target for a five-yard gain. Saubert's seven targets were third on the team behind receivers Courtland Sutton (11) and Jerry Jeudy (eight). Okwuegbunam came into the year as the projected top pass-catching tight end, but Saubert remains involved and might have surpassed Albert O on the depth chart. Neither tight end isn't worth rostering in 12-team leagues, but Okwuegbunam's stock has fallen considerably.
Eric Saubert Scores TD, Albert Okwuegbunam Puts Up A Donut
Denver Broncos tight end Eric Saubert scored the team's only touchdown in the Week 2 win over the Houston Texans on Sunday. Saubert caught one of his two targets in the contest for a 22-yard touchdown reception. He stepped up with a big score in this one, but it was disappointing that he didn't see more targets with Jerry Jeudy (shoulder) getting injured in the first half and never returning. On the flip side, Albert Okwuegbunam failed to reel in either of his two targets. The zero-catch game was even more disappointing for Albert O in a Broncos offense that just hasn't had any rhythm in their first two games. Theoretically, Okwuegbunam should have a much bigger role in a Week 3 game against the San Francisco 49ers if Jeudy is unable to play, but it will be hard to trust him as a TE2 streamer after this showing.
Eric Saubert Finds End Zone In Second Preseason Game
Denver Broncos tight end Eric Saubert had the team's lone touchdown in the 42-15 loss to the Buffalo Bills on Saturday in the second preseason game. Saubert caught all three of his targets in the contest for only 17 yards and the score. The 28-year-old appeared in all 17 games in his first year in Denver in 2021 and had eight catches on 12 targets for 47 yards and one touchdown while working behind Noah Fant and Albert Okwuegbunam. Fant is now in Seattle, but rookie Greg Dulcich should be the No. 2 behind Okwuegbunam entering the 2022 season. Saubert will be more valuable to the Broncos as a blocker and as a special teams contributor, keeping him well off the fantasy radar.
Denver Broncos third-string tight end Eric Saubert caught a one-yard touchdown pass in the 28-13 Week 12 win over the division-rival Los Angeles Chargers. Saubert had just the one target in the entire game, and it was the first touchdown of his career. On the season, the 27-year-old has eight catches on 11 targets for 47 yards and the touchdown in 10 games. Saubert hasn't played more than 42% of the team's offensive snaps in any one game in 2021, and he would only come into fantasy value if both Noah Fant and Albert Okwuegbunam missed time with injuries. Don't ready anything into his first career trip to paydirt in the crucial divisional win over the Chargers.
