Devon Witherspoon Inactive Versus Titans
Seattle Seahawks cornerback Devon Witherspoon (hip) is officially inactive for Sunday's game against the Tennessee Titans. He had been listed as questionable but was not expected to play after missing practice on Friday. Indeed, the rookie sensation is set to miss his second consecutive contest. The Seahawks' secondary could have trouble replacing the young playmaker who has 65 tackles, three sacks, one forced fumble, and one interception through 12 games. With that said, Mike Jackson and Tre Brown should earn more snaps in his absence.

Devon Witherspoon Questionable To Return On Sunday
Seattle Seahawks cornerback Devon Witherspoon (back) is questionable to return to Sunday's NFC West meeting with the 49ers. He didn't last long, suffering a back injury in the first quarter. Hopefully, it's nothing serious, considering the 22-year-old is one of the top defenders on the depth chart.

Devon Witherspoon Not Expected To Play Sunday
Seattle Seahawks cornerback Devon Witherspoon (hamstring) is not expected to play against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 1, per NFL.com's Ian Rapoport. His NFL debut will have to wait another week. Tre Brown or Mike Jackson should handle additional snaps until Witherspoon is healthy enough to return.

No Timetable For Devon Witherspoon
Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said that rookie first-round cornerback Devon Witherspoon (hamstring) remains in "rehab" and didn't give a timetable for his return. The head coach also said Witherspoon will be back in the race for the starting left cornerback job once he gets on the field. The 22-year-old has been dealing with a lingering hamstring injury since Aug. 7, but he's expected to get back on the field soon. Whether that gives him enough time to get ready for the regular season opener in Week 1 remains to be seen. When he's fully healthy, Witherspoon should occupy a pretty big role in Seattle's secondary in his first NFL season, but fantasy managers in IDP leagues should be looking for more proven options at the position in their drafts.

Seahawks, Devon Witherspoon Agree To A Deal
The Seattle Seahawks and first-round rookie cornerback Devon Witherspoon agreed to terms on a four-year, $31.86 million fully guaranteed deal on Friday that includes a $20.2 million signing bonus, according to a source. The fifth overall pick of this year's NFL draft becomes the last first-rounder to get a deal done. The 22-year-old defensive back held out of the first two days of training camp in order to get his deal worked out, but he'll now be available to get to work this summer. He is an elite corner prospect with size, and he should start immediately in Seattle in 2023 across from Tariq Woolen. Witherspoon may not be an asset in IDP fantasy leagues immediately, but he will make the Seahawks secondary formidable right away.

Devon Witherspoon Remains Unsigned, Will Miss Start Of Camp
Seattle Seahawks rookie cornerback Devon Witherspoon has yet to sign his rookie deal with the organization, so he is not expected to be on the field for the start of training camp. The two sides have failed to agree on a contract up to this point and he won't take the field until they do so. Witherspoon was selected with the No. 5 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft after earning consensus All-American honors in his final season at Illinois. Surely, a deal will be reached at some point during camp, so there shouldn't be too much concern of an extended absence just yet.

Devon Witherspoon Sees Work In Slot
Seattle Seahawks rookie cornerback Devon Witherspoon, the fifth overall pick of this year's NFL draft, was highly touted for his work at Illinois on the outside. But Witherspoon often worked on the inside at slot cornerback during the team's three-day mandatory minicamp this week. "He's capable of playing in there," head coach Pete Carroll said. The injury to last year's nickel defensive back Coby Bryant (foot) has allowed Seattle to give Witherspoon a try on the inside. While the 22-year-old can certainly play on the inside, he'll likely spend most of his time on the outside. But Witherspoon's athleticism will allow the Seahawks to get creative and move him around as they see fit to get the matchups they like against opposing wide receivers.

Devon Witherspoon Taken No. 5 By Seattle
The Seattle Seahawks selected Illinois defensive back Devon Witherspoon with the No. 5 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. Witherspoon will team up with Tariq Woolen to form a dynamic duo in Seattle's defensive backfield. The 22-year-old was the highest-graded corner and tremendous in press coverage, allowing just one yard during press coverage. In early April, Witherspoon ran 4.4-2 and a 4.46-second 40-yard dash times at a personal workout for NFL scouts. He racked up 159 tackles, 30 passes defended, five interceptions, and three fumble recoveries in the previous four seasons at Illinois. Witherspoon's presence should only help an improving Seahawks defense.
