Nick Emmanwori Will Play on Super Sunday

Seattle Seahawks rookie safety Nick Emmanwori (ankle) was a full participant in Friday's practice and was removed from the final injury report for Super Bowl LX on Sunday against the New England Patriots, according to ESPN's Brady Henderson. Emmanwori suffered a low-ankle sprain in practice on Wednesday and was held out of Thursday's practice, but he's now ready to go this weekend. It's great news for a Seahawks defense that has been among the best units in the NFL all year. The 21-year-old Emmanwori was in contention for Defensive Rookie of the Year after recording 81 tackles (56 solo), 2.5 sacks, nine tackles for loss, four QB hits, an interception, and 11 pass breakups in 14 regular-season games. He had a strong NFC Championship game against the Los Angeles Rams, too, with five tackles (four solo) and three pass breakups. Emmanwori will hope to make life difficult for Patriots quarterback Drake Maye in the Super Bowl.

Nick Emmanwori "Fully Expected" to Play in Super Bowl

Seattle Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald said on Thursday that rookie safety Nick Emmanwori (ankle) is fully expected to play in Super Bowl LX on Sunday against the New England Patriots, but the team will be overly cautious with him going into the weekend to make sure he's fine after rolling his ankle in practice on Wednesday, according to ESPN's Jeff Darlington. The 21-year-old second-round pick was limited on Wednesday and is currently dealing with a low-ankle sprain. Emmanwori might be limited in practice the rest of the week, but it sounds like he's going to give it a go for the big game this weekend, which is great news for Seattle's secondary. In his first year in the NFL, Emmanwori totaled 81 tackles (56 solo), 2.5 sacks, nine tackles for loss, four QB hits, an interception, and 11 pass breakups in 14 regular-season games to put himself in contention to win Defensive Rookie of the Year.

Nick Emmanwori Injures his Ankle in Wednesday's Practice

Seattle Seahawks nickelback Nick Emmanwori (ankle) injured his ankle while defending a pass late in practice on Wednesday, according to ESPN's Brady Henderson. Emmanwori, a finalist for Defensive Rookie of the Year, walked off the field under his own power, but it remains to be seen if he'll be able to play this Sunday against the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LX. The second-rounder has been a key player in head coach Mike Macdonald's top-ranked scoring defense this year. Emmanwori was officially listed as limited on Wednesday's practice report. How much the 21-year-old defensive back can do in practice on Thursday and Friday will ultimately determine his status for the big game this weekend. If Emmanwori is unable to play or is limited on Sunday, it will definitely be a downgrade for Seattle's secondary.

Nick Emmanwori a Candidate For Defensive Rookie of the Year

The Athletic's Jeff Howe writes that Seattle Seahawks rookie safety Nick Emmanwori "should be considered a dark-horse candidate to win NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year." Emmanwori has been "a playmaking force in practice" and will eventually "take on a similar role as the one Ravens superstar safety Kyle Hamilton played in Mike Macdonald's scheme when the coach was the defensive coordinator in Baltimore." Howe thinks that Macdonald's defense should be better in his second year with the team. The 21-year-old has been lining up all over the defensive formation this summer, including playing at safety, nickel cornereback and outside linebacker. So far, Emmanwori has lived up to the hype of being a second-round pick with lots of versatility. If that continues into the regular season, he could become a houseful name in IDP fantasy formats sooner than later.

Seahawks, Nick Emmanwori Reach Agreement on Rookie Deal

The Seattle Seahawks and second-round safety Nick Emmanwori reached an agreement on Thursday night on a fully guaranteed rookie contract, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter. Emmanwori becomes the first player in NFL history drafted 35th overall to receive a fully guaranteed contract. Seattle traded up 17 spots to take Emmanwori, who was a three-year starter at South Carolina that impressed during the scouting combine back in February. The Seahawks plan to use the 21-year-old defensive back at nickelback in 2025 in his first year in the NFL, with Julian Love and Coby Bryant serving as the team's starting safeties. In addition to Emmanwori, the Seahawks also reached an agreement with rookie tight end Elijah Arroyo, who was taken 50th overall in the second round back in April.

Seahawks Acquire 35th Pick From Titans, Select Nick Emmanwori

The Seattle Seahawks have selected South Carolina safety Nick Emmanwori with the 35th pick in the NFL Draft. This pick originally belonged to the Tennessee Titans but was flipped to Seattle in a trade while Tennessee was on the clock Friday night. In exchange for the 35th pick, Seattle sent the 52nd and 82nd picks back to the Titans. Emmanwori totaled 88 tackles (including three tackles for loss) and four interceptions through 13 games during his final collegiate season. He is a physical playmaker known for his skillful tackling and ability to disrupt plays. His good downfield speed makes him a candidate to start immediately on defense.
