Elijah Arroyo Plays With No. 2 Offense in Preseason Opener

Seattle Seahawks tight end Elijah Arroyo played in Seattle's preseason opener against the Cowboys on Saturday. He recorded one reception for 12 yards. Given that Seattle did not play its first-team offense, Arroyo's playing time suggests that the 2025 second-round pick is squarely behind AJ Barner at the top of the depth chart. Barner broke out in 2025 while Arroyo struggled through injuries. The team will likely employ two-tight end sets relatively often, which means Arroyo should see the field quite a bit. However, it is clear that the tight end of value for fantasy will be Barner. Arroyo is a talented player who could eventually emerge in this offense, but for now he is best left on waivers until he proves himself on the field.

Elijah Arroyo Primed to "Blow the Roof Off"

Seattle Seahawks tight end Elijah Arroyo dealt with injuries as a rookie that prevented him from building any true consistency, but now fully healthy in his second professional training camp, the 2025 second-round pick has put his playmaking abilities on full display. After Arroyo made a contested touchdown grab in the team's annual Football Fest scrimmage, head coach Mike Macdonald spoke on his upside, telling reporters, "When Elijah's been out there, he's been productive for us... It's not a fault of his own that sometimes he's gotten nicked up, but if he can continue this trend of having a routine, attacking the details, making those marginal gains every day, then this is the type of stuff that he's capable of, and he can take it even further." While cautioning against drawing too much from two weeks of practice, Macdonald himself then raised the bar by saying, "Let's blow the roof off of the expectations for what you can do, and let's go get it." Arroyo is RotoBaller's dynasty TE30 and a player to pay attention to as a potential breakout candidate.

Elijah Arroyo Rising in New Seahawks Offense

Seattle Seahawks tight end Elijah Arroyo (knee) is gaining momentum in new offensive coordinator Brian Fleury's offense. Gregg Bell of The News Tribune reports that Arroyo is rising in a scheme that is creating more downfield opportunities for the team's tight ends. The 2025 second-round pick had a modest rookie season, catching 15 passes for 179 yards and one touchdown in 13 games, but his athleticism makes him an intriguing receiving option. Arroyo missed the final four games of the regular season with a knee injury before returning for Seattle's Super Bowl LX victory. AJ Barner remains the top tight end after posting 52 catches for 519 yards and six touchdowns last year, so Arroyo may not see enough volume to become a reliable weekly fantasy starter. Fleury previously served as San Francisco's run game coordinator and tight ends coach, and Seattle is expected to continue using multiple-tight-end looks. Arroyo is a name to watch in deeper leagues if this momentum continues and he earns a larger role in the passing game.

Elijah Arroyo an Intriguing Dynasty Buy-Low Candidate Ahead of 2026

A second-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, Seattle Seahawks tight end Elijah Arroyo failed to carve out a significant role in his team's offense as a rookie. Across 13 games (four starts), the 23-year-old recorded 15 catches for 179 yards and one touchdown on 26 targets. Entering 2026, Arroyo once again projects to open the year behind AJ Barner on Seattle's tight end depth chart. However, Barner has averaged just 9.3 yards per reception for his career. Arroyo profiles as the superior athlete and carries more explosive upside, averaging 16.9 yards per catch and scoring seven touchdowns across 13 games in his final collegiate season at the University of Miami. If Arroyo can stay healthy and be more consistent as a blocker in his second NFL season, he could establish himself as a larger piece in the Seattle passing game going forward.

Elijah Arroyo Poised for Larger Role in Year 2?

Although Seattle Seahawks tight end AJ Barner is expected to lead all of the team's TEs again in 2026, second-year TE Elijah Arroyo is "poised for a much larger sophomore season," according to Justin Melo of Seahawks Wire. The Seahawks took Arroyo with the 50th overall pick in the second round last year out of the University of Miami. The 23-year-old was limited to just 13 regular-season games (four starts) due to injuries in 2025, but he still produced 15 catches for 179 yards and a touchdown on 26 targets as depth at the position. Seattle ran two tight-end sets on almost 30% of their offensive plays last year, but that was also with offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak running the show. Kubiak is now the head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders. Still, Barner and Arroyo should be on the field together a fair amount, opening the door for Arroyo to be more involved in his second season in the NFL as the Seahawks look to defend their title. Ultimately, whether Arroyo can stay healthy could determine whether he'll have a Year 2 breakout in Seattle. RotoBaller has him ranked as the No. 37 fantasy TE this year.

Elijah Arroyo Carries Stash Appeal for Dynasty Rebuilders

A second-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, Seattle Seahawks tight end Elijah Arroyo finished his rookie season with just 15 receptions for 179 yards and one touchdown on 26 targets across 13 games (four starts). The 23-year-old spent the majority of the year behind Seahawks tight end AJ Barner on the team's depth chart at the position. Seattle also recorded the NFL's third-lowest pass rate as a team in 2025, which likely held down the fantasy production of all of its pass-catchers outside of star wideout Jaxon Smith-Njigba. While Barner remains with the Seahawks entering 2026, Arroyo is a more explosive athlete and may be the higher-upside pass-catcher of the two. Seattle may also be forced to turn to the air a bit more in 2026, as the team was forced to rework its backfield over the offseason. For dynasty managers in the midst of a rebuild, buying low on Arroyo could be a move that pays dividends long-term.

Elijah Arroyo Worth Buying Low on in Dynasty Formats?

A second-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, Seattle Seahawks tight end Elijah Arroyo recorded just 15 catches for 179 yards and a touchdown on 26 targets across 13 games as a rookie. Arroyo flashed upside as a pass-catcher, but his path to playing time was largely blocked by fellow Seahawks tight end AJ Barner. Entering 2026, Barner remains in place as the nominal TE1 in Seattle, and veteran tight end Eric Saubert will likely continue to play a role in the offense as a blocker. However, Arroyo recorded 590 receiving yards and seven touchdowns in his final collegiate season at Miami and remains the highest-ceiling receiving tight end in Seattle. The Seahawks may also be forced to throw the ball a bit more in 2026 after finishing the 2025 season with the fourth-fewest pass attempts (481) in the NFL, which would open up more opportunities for all of the team's pass-catchers. Arroyo's profile carries risk, but he could be a worthy buy-low candidate for dynasty managers after his underwhelming rookie campaign.

Will Elijah Arroyo Continue to Have Trouble Getting on the Field?

Seattle Seahawks tight end Elijah Arroyo remains the No. 2 option on the depth chart, which could be good news or bad news. It's encouraging in the sense that the Seahawks didn't draft a rookie tight end, because that could have bumped Arroyo down to the third spot. On the other hand, even as the league shifts to more 12 personnel packages, the Seahawks may continue to use just one tight end (A.J. Barner). Seattle's new offensive coordinator, Brian Fleury, was the tight ends coach with the 49ers last year. In 2025, the 49ers ran 12 personnel on just 11.46% of their plays. That ranked seventh-lowest in the NFL, and it was approximately half the league average rate. If Fleury, despite his background coaching tight end, carries that same philosophy from San Francisco to Seattle, Arroyo could have trouble earning consistent playing time when Barner is healthy. He ranks as the TE28 in RotoBaller's latest dynasty rankings, but it's hard to envision him being a reliable fantasy option as early as 2026.

Elijah Arroyo's Dynasty Stock Up Slightly After NFL Draft

Seattle Seahawks tight end Elijah Arroyo caught only 15 passes as a rookie for 179 yards and one score, but following a 2026 NFL Draft that saw nine tight ends selected through the first two days and 21 overall, he emerged as one of the few young tight ends unaffected by the historically deep class. Seattle was one of 16 teams that did not add to the position through the draft, and as such, Arroyo has seen his dynasty ranking rise to RotoBaller's TE26 as half the league's depth charts face added competition. While it will take more than just a changing landscape around him to maintain value, Arroyo's plus-athleticism and strong hands are what made him a 2025 second-round pick despite a checkered medical history. While he is still stuck behind AJ Barner on the Seahawks' depth chart, this recent draft is a clear indicator of the league's trending path towards more 12 and 13 personnel packages, and Arroyo could carve out a meaningful role under first-year offensive coordinator Brian Fleury, who has spent the past four seasons as the 49ers' tight ends coach.

Are the Pieces in Place for a Year 2 Jump From Elijah Arroyo?

Seattle Seahawks tight end Elijah Arroyo finished his rookie season with 15 receptions for 179 yards and one touchdown, but he did show signs of encouraging usage. His 90.8% route participation was highest among rookie tight ends, while his average depth of target and yards per route run were both close to the top of the class. While it was AJ Barner, in a second-season breakout of his own, who saw the vast majority of high-value touches out of the tight end room, a new offensive coaching staff could help to clear the slate for Arroyo. Brian Fleury takes over as the offensive coordinator in Seattle after four seasons as the 49ers' tight ends coach. While George Kittle can potentially make said position look easy, Fleury and the Niners offense got several fantasy-relevant performances out of Jake Tonges in Kittle's absence. It's worth noting that while Seattle deployed 12 personnel at a top 10 rate under Klint Kubiak, San Francisco ranked near the bottom of the league in each of the last four seasons, though context is important here. The 49ers ran the highest rate of 21 personnel over that time, and while San Francisco boasts arguably the best halfback/fullback duo in the league, Seattle might not have either position figured out heading into the NFL Draft, while tight end remains a strength in 2026.
