Seattle Seahawks running back Zach Charbonnet had his most productive game in weeks in Sunday's win over the Arizona Cardinals. The rookie took five rushing attempts 32 yards and caught both of his targets for 28 receiving yards. His receptions late in the fourth quarter advanced the Seahawks into Cardinals' territory, setting up Geno Smith's 34-yard touchdown pass to Tyler Lockett. The selection of Charbonnet in the second round of the 2023 draft sparked a debate that he might contend for the starting role but he was firmly in the backseat behind second-year running back Kenneth Walker III. It will be hard to predict what the depth chart will look like in 2024, but Charbonnet can be expected to hang on to his role as the passing down back at the least. Charbonnet's first season ends with 462 rushing yards and one touchdown gained on 108 carries and 209 receiving yards on 33 catches.
Seattle Seahawks running back Zach Charbonnet will finish out the season working behind Kenneth Walker III (shoulder) in Week 18. Despite dealing with a shoulder injury that limited his ability to practice this week, Walker is off the team's injury report and ready to start against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. Charbonnet has been featured in passing down situations and inside the two-minute warning, but if past usage holds then it will be Walker who sees the lion's share of the running back touches. Last week against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Charbonnet caught all five of his targets for 39 yards. The Cardinals have given up the most fantasy points per game to running backs and have allowed eight receiving touchdowns to the position this season. Fantasy managers in a Week 18 championship should avoid Charbonnet, while DFS players could take a chance on him and hope his workload in the passing game leads to a touchdown.
Zach Charbonnet Sees More Touches Against Steelers
Seattle Seahawks running back Zach Charbonnet had two carries for two rushing yards and caught all five of his targets for 39 receiving yards in Sunday's loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. His seven touches were the most he has had since Week 14 when he was offering relief to Kenneth Walker III (shoulder) who was still on the mend from an oblique injury. Charbonnet benefitted from similar circumstances in Week 17. Walker was a game-time decision due to a shoulder injury that limited his participation in practice all week. Walker looked effective during the game but reaggravated the injury in the third quarter. By the time he was deemed available to return to play, the Seahawks were playing catch-up necessitating that Charbonnet stay on the field. The rookie could see extra work in Week 18 if Walker's shoulder is still bothering him, and if the Seahawks would rather not risk his health at all then Charbonnet would once again operate as the team's featured back.
Seattle Seahawks running back Zach Charbonnet was of no use to fantasy managers in Week 16. With starter Kenneth Walker III (shoulder/illness) fully recovered from an oblique injury that afforded Charbonnet more work, the rookie had just three touches against the Tennessee Titans. He maintained his usual role on passing downs and inside the two-minute warnings, but nothing came to fruition, even with his two rushing attempts coming inside the Titans' five-yard line. In Week 17, Charbonnet and his owners wait with bated breath on Walker's status who has a questionable tag due to an illness and a shoulder injury and will be a game-time decision on Sunday. Should Walker be a no-go, Charbonnet would suddenly be Seattle's featured back once again and could seen as an RB3/flex play.
Zach Charbonnet Finishes In The Red Against Titans
Seattle Seahawks running back Zach Charbonnet finished with negative yardage in Sunday's 20-17 win over the Tennessee Titans. He lost four yards on his only reception and his two rushing attempts resulted in zero yards gained. Charbonnet was given a couple of chances to punch in the game-winning score from inside the Titans' five-yard line before Geno Smith threw his game-winning touchdown pass to tight end Colby Parkinson. He was held up after a three-yard gain on his first attempt and then lost three yards on the next play. For the second week in a row, the rookie was on the field only on passing third downs and during the team's two-minute drills. Based on his recent usage Charbonnet should not be relied on in the fantasy football championship round in Week 17 when the Seahawks face the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Seattle Seahawks running back Zach Charbonnet took four carries for 16 yards in Week 15 against the Philadelphia Eagles. The rookie had a near-equal snap share to Kenneth Walker III (shoulder) in the game but his four touches paled compared to Walker's 22. Charbonnet looked poised to take back the starter role after Walker missed two practices to start the week. However, he did log a limited practice Friday and is believed to be ready for Sunday's game against the Tennessee Titans, knocking expectations for Charbonnet back down. Charbonnet should be considered an RB4 under the assumption that Walker will be active and healthy. Managers should keep an eye on the situation though, in case of any last-minute changes to Walker's status, which would bump Charbonnet's value up a couple of tiers.
Seattle Seahawks running back Zach Charbonnet took a big step back on the depth chart on Monday night. Charbonnet had just four carries for 16 yards in the 20-17 win over the Philadelphia Eagles. The rookie was in on passing downs but he was targeted only once and did not record a catch despite quarterback Drew Lock's apparent fixation on short routes. Charbonnet was also on the field for two-minute drills but did not handle the ball during the eventual game-winning drive at the end of the fourth quarter. The four rushing attempts paled in comparison to the 22 touches garnered by Kenneth Walker III, in a workload split reminiscent of the first half of the season. After being left out of the picture on Monday, Charbonnet does not figure to be a big part of the Seahawks' game plan for their Week 16 matchup against the Tennessee Titans.
Seattle Seahawks running back Zach Charbonnet lost his hold on the top of the depth chart with the return of Kenneth Walker III in Week 14. Charbonnet still finished with 10 total touches in that game, taking nine carries for 44 yards and one reception for four more. Walker's 58% snap rate outdid Charbonnet's 40%, but he had just two more touches and was less efficient than the rookie. In Week 15, the Seahawks play the Philadelphia Eagles, who have been rather stingy to running backs in 2023 allowing them just four touchdowns all season and holding opposing backfields to fewer than 100 rushing yards in all but three games. In a game where the Seahawks figure to exploit Philadephia's porous secondary and lean heavily on the pass, Charbonnet projects to finish as an RB4.
Seattle Seahawks running back Zach Charbonnet (knee) led the team in rushing attempts and yards against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. His nine carries and 44 rushing yards were all that it took to lead the Seahawks' ground game in Week 14. He also had a single reception for four yards as well. Kenneth Walker III (oblique) was in action for the first time since Week 11 and took back his starting role, but had one fewer carry than Charbonnet. Walker will likely retain his starting role going forward, but Charbonnet's efforts may make their workloads closer to a 50/50 split as the season winds down. Next up, the Seahawks take on the Philadelphia Eagles who have allowed the second-fewest fantasy points per game in 2023 but have allowed 152.3 rushing yards per game over the last three weeks.
Kenneth Walker III, Zach Charbonnet Active For Week 14
Seattle Seahawks running backs Kenneth Walker III (oblique) and Zach Charbonnet (knee) are active for Week 14 versus the San Francisco 49ers. Both players had been listed as questionable. Walker makes his return after missing two games. He has shown immense promise when handling a full workload but could have a reduced snap share as the Seahawks phase him back into action. Nevertheless, the second-round back is worth deploying as an RB2 in fantasy football. Charbonnet will also earn some touches, but he isn't on the fantasy radar.
