Quenton Nelson News
Indianapolis Colts general manager Chris Ballard said he wants offensive guard Quenton Nelson to stick around for the long haul. Ballard also said the team will not move Nelson to left tackle next year. The 25-year-old was an All-Pro guard in each of his first three seasons with the team before battling injuries in 2021. Nelson still made his fourth straight Pro Bowl this season, but he missed the first four games of his career. When he was healthy, he was still one of the best offensive guards in the NFL, and he will return for the 2022 season to try and get the Colts back into the playoffs after their disappointing finish with a loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars in the Week 18 season finale.
The Indianapolis Colts placed All-Pro offensive guard Quenton Nelson (ankle) on Injured Reserve on Saturday with a high ankle sprain. In corresponding moves, the team elevated safety Ibraheim Campbell and quarterback Brett Hundley to the active roster from the practice squad. Nelson was carted off the field in the Week 3 loss to the Tennessee Titans, and he'll be out at least the next three games and possibly more. It's a big blow to Indianapolis' offensive line, especially with quarterback Carson Wentz playing on two sprained ankles. Chris Reed could replace Nelson at left guard for however long he is sidelined.
Indianapolis Colts offensive guard Quenton Nelson (ankle) will miss his first NFL game in Week 4 against the Miami Dolphins after playing in the first 51 games of his career. Nelson could be in danger of missing the second game of his career in Week 5 after he was carted off the field in the first half of the Week 3 loss to the Tennessee Titans. With Nelson out this weekend, Chris Reed is expected to start at left guard on Indy's offensive line. Nelson made the Pro Bowl and was named a first-team All-Pro in each of his first three seasons, so losing that kind of talent up front shouldn't be ignored. Not only that, but running back Jonathan Taylor (knee) is questionable, and quarterback Carson Wentz (ankles) is expected to play on two bum ankles for the second straight week. The Dolphins defense is on the streaming radar in Week 4.
