Nick Westbrook-Ikhine News
Tennessee Titans wide receiver Nick Westbrook-Ikhine became more comfortable as a route-runner and pass-catcher as the season progressed last year, and he believes he's ticketed for a bigger role in 2022 after the team traded A.J. Brown to the Philadelphia Eagles and released Julio Jones. Westbrook-Ikhine's 38 catches last year was second behind Brown's 63. He was also second on the team in receiving yards with 476 and finished second with four touchdowns. Robert Woods will now be the team's No. 1 receiver, but Westbrook-Ikhine will be competing for targets with rookies Treylon Burks (a first-rounder) and Kyle Philips. Westbrook-Ikhine could have more opportunities, but fantasy managers need to remember that this is a run-first offense.
The Tennessee Titans re-signed wide receiver Nick Westbrook-Ikhine to a one-year deal on Wednesday. Financial terms of the team were not disclosed. Westbrook-Ikhine was scheduled to become an exclusive-rights free agent next week. The 24-year-old has developed nicely as receiver depth for the Titans the last two seasons. He saw plenty of playing time in 2021 due to injuries to A.J. Brown and veteran Julio Jones, and Westbrook-Ikhine took advantage by catching 38 of his 57 targets for 476 yards (12.5 yards per catch) and four touchdowns in 16 games (seven starts). He finished second on the team in catches behind Brown's 63, and his yardage total trailed only Brown (869). Westbrook-Ikhine has 41 catches for 509 yards and four touchdowns in 30 games in his two NFL seasons. He'll only become fantasy relevant (with a low ceiling) if injuries strike the position again in 2022.
The Tennessee Titans activated wide receiver Nick Westbrook-Ikhine from the Reserve/COVID-19 list on Friday. However, veteran Julio Jones, linebacker Jayon Brown, defensive lineman Denico Autry, tackle Kendall Lamm, defensive back Buster Skrine and outside linebacker Bud Dupree remain on the list heading into Sunday's game against the Miami Dolphins. If Jones isn't able to clear the COVID protocols before Sunday, Westbrook-Ikhine would serve as the team's No. 2 receiver next to A.J. Brown, who went off in his return in last Thursday's win over the San Francisco 49ers. Other than a 100-yard performance in Week 11 when both Brown and Jones were sidelined, Westbrook-Ikhine has done very little for fantasy managers and won't be an attractive upside flex play this weekend.
