St. Louis Blues right wing Alexey Toropchenko (lower body) will miss Saturday's matchup against Carolina. The Russian forward is dealing with a lower-body injury and is considered day-to-day. Toropchenko is a big physical piece for the Blues on the fourth line, who has tallied one assist with four shots and 12 hits in five games this season. His absence gives Nathan Walker a chance to rejoin the action on Saturday. Walker logged one assist, four shots, and 12 hits in four games before being scratched for Thursday's 1-0 overtime victory against the Islanders. He has posted very similar numbers to Toropchenko, so it's basically a like-for-like change on the fourth line. Fantasy managers should ignore Walker.
St. Louis Blues right wing Alexey Toropchenko was unavailable for selection for Thursday's preseason game against Dallas due to a lower-body injury. The 24-year-old had to give up his spot to Nikita Alexandrov. Toropchenko had his first full NHL season last term and notched 19 points (10 goals, nine assists) in 69 games. The preseason has given him an opportunity to carve out a bigger role for the new campaign, and the injury will definitely be a blow for him.
Alexey Toropchenko Agrees On Two-Year Extension With Blues
St. Louis Blues winger Alexey Toropchenko has agreed to a two-year, $2.5 million contract extension with the team. The 24-year-old was set to start an arbitration process with the Blues in a few days, but the two sides were able to work out a new deal for the restricted free agent. Toropchenko, whose new deal comes with a $1.25 million cap hit, has skated in 97 regular-season games for the Blues, scoring 12 goals and logging 21 points with 191 hits. He's been limited to a bottom-six role on the team, averaging less than 12 minutes of ice time per game, so Toropchenko currently doesn't carry a lot of fantasy value.
