Jimmy Snuggerud to Miss Six Weeks After Wrist Surgery

St. Louis Blues right wing Jimmy Snuggerud is set to have left wrist surgery, which will keep him out of action for six weeks. The 21-year-old rookie has struggled recently and now won't get an opportunity to start turning his season around until at least mid-January. Snuggerud has tallied five goals and 11 points in 26 games with the struggling Blues this season. On Monday, St. Louis also ruled out Alexey Toropchenko after he had suffered scalding burns to his legs in a home accident. With Pius Suter (lower body) already on the shelf, the Blues' top six and first power-play unit will feature Dalibor Dvorsky in Monday's game against the Anaheim Ducks. Oskar Sundqvist will also have additional fantasy value as a member of the top power-play unit.

Jimmy Snuggerud Records First Multi-Goal Game

St. Louis Blues right wing Jimmy Snuggerud scored his first two goals of the season in Monday's 5-2 victory over the Vancouver Canucks. Snuggerud's power-play goal in the middle of the second frame proved to be the game-winning marker. The 21-year-old rookie celebrated his first career multi-goal game. Having tallied three points in three games, Snuggerud can be very happy with his start to the campaign. He's skating with the top power-play unit and has picked up two of his points with the man advantage. Wednesday's meeting with the struggling Chicago Blackhawks will give Snuggerud a good chance to further boost his numbers.

Jimmy Snuggerud Avoids Serious Injury

St. Louis Blues right wing Jimmy Snuggerud (undisclosed) is not seriously hurt after crashing into the boards during Wednesday's practice. "He's fine," Blues head coach Jim Montgomery told reporters Friday. "Anything serious has been eliminated, and he's day-to-day right now." Snuggerud is expected to be one of the most exciting rookies in the NHL this season. Following an outstanding three-year spell with the University of Minnesota, he made his pro debut last season, producing four points (one goal, three assists) over seven regular-season outings. Snuggerud also had two goals and two assists during St. Louis' seven-game first-round playoff series against the Winnipeg Jets.

Jimmy Snuggerud Leaves Practice Early Wednesday

St. Louis Blues right wing Jimmy Snuggerud (undisclosed) didn't finish Wednesday's practice. He left the session early after a hard crash into the boards. Blues head coach Jim Montgomery considers Snuggerud day-to-day. It seems that Wednesday's incident is unlikely to affect Snuggerud's availability for opening night. The talented forward will begin his first full season in the NHL, and fantasy managers should keep a close eye on Snuggerud. He notched four points (one goal, three assists) in his first seven NHL outings last season. With a top-six spot and regular power-play time, Snuggerud could contend for the Calder Trophy.

Jimmy Snuggerud Ready For NHL Debut Tuesday

St. Louis Blues right wing Jimmy Snuggerud will make his NHL debut in Tuesday's matchup against the Detroit Red Wings. The 20-year-old forward, a first-round pick in the 2022 NHL draft, signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Blues last Friday. He has just completed a prolific collegiate career with the University of Minnesota, producing 135 points (66 goals, 69 assists) in 119 NCAA appearances. Snuggerud, who bagged 51 points (24 goals, 27 assists) in 40 games this season, is among 10 candidates for the Hobey Baker Memorial Award, presented annually to the top NCAA men's hockey player. The Blues are set to use Snuggerud in a third-line role on Tuesday, pairing him with Oskar Sundqvist and Zack Bolduc. He will also slot into the second power-play unit, giving him extra fantasy value.
