Vancouver Canucks center Pius Suter (lower body) will return from a 14-game absence on Thursday versus the Panthers. Suter had a rough start to the season, but he strung together an impressive stretch of games right before getting hurt, producing four goals across five games. These are his only points in 15 appearances in 2023-24. Suter returns to action on the fourth line on Thursday, bumping Nils Aman out of the lineup.
Pius Suter Heads to Detroit on New Two-Year Contract
The Chicago Blackhawks walked away from a qualifying offer to Pius Suter. So, the Detroit Red Wings quickly struck. They signed the forward to a two-year deal worth $3.25 million AAV on Wednesday. Suter spent good parts of the season centering forwards like Alex DeBrincat and Patrick Kane. He scored 14 goals and 27 points in 55 games. Suter also played over 16 minutes a night and saw a good deal of power-play time. That ability to score goals was not lost on Steve Yzerman. Suter scored five goals against Detroit in 2021. Suter can also play left-wing as well and should see top-six ice time as a Red Wing.
Chicago Blackhawks forward Pius Suter will return to the lineup on Monday against Carolina after he was scratched for Saturday's 3-0 loss to Florida. Brett Connolly will come out of the lineup. Riley Stillman also won't play with Nicolas Beaudin taking over. Suter has posted 13 goals and 23 points in 50 games during his debut campaign in the league. He had a rough month in April with only five points but should be able to bounce back if he lands in a top-six role. Malcolm Subban, who is 6-7-1 for the year, is the man between the pipes on Monday.
Chicago Blackhawks forward Pius Suter will be scratched for Saturday's battle with the Panthers. Philipp Kurashev is set to join the forward group. Suter has been a first-line center lately, and he boasts a decent 13 goals and 23 points for the season in 50 games with 99 shots and a minus-six rating. The Swiss rookie could be dealing with an injury, but there's no info on it yet. Philipp Kurashev has had a 14-point campaign in 49 games with 57 shots and a minus-nine rating.
Pius Suter Scores First Career Goals With Hat Trick
Chicago Blackhawks forward Pius Suter was on a roll on Sunday against Detroit, scoring two first-period goals and completing a hat trick in the third. The 24-year-old rookie became the second player in franchise history to post his first three career goals in the same game. He also had a game-high five shots in the 6-2 win and finished with a plus-two rating. Suter had a 30-goal year playing in Switzerland last season, so he clearly has a good eye for goal. Skating alongside Patrick Kane isn't a bad situation either for him. Kane had two assists in the game, while Mattias Janmark and Connor Murphy recorded two points with one goal and one assist.
