Claude Giroux Signs One-Year Deal with Senators

Ottawa Senators forward Claude Giroux has agreed to a one-year contract extension with the team. He will earn a baseline salary of $2 million, with the potential to earn up to $4.75 million through bonuses. The 37-year-old has spent three seasons with the Senators, recording 193 points (71 goals, 122 assists) in 245 appearances, including 50 points (15 goals, 35 assists) in 81 games during the 2024-25 season. Although Giroux's fantasy value has gradually decreased in recent years, he still remains a top-six forward in Ottawa and should be able to produce 50-plus points again next season if he stays healthy.

Ottawa rested Giroux for Tuesday's matchup against the Chicago Blackhawks. This marked his first absence of the year. Giroux has had a decent 50-point campaign, recording 15 goals and 35 assists in 80 outings. He will return to the top line on Thursday, joining Brady Tkachuk and Tim Stutzle, and is projected to work on the second power-play unit. 18 of Giroux's points this season have come with the man advantage.

Reinhart is averaging exactly a point per game this season in 63 outings and he should be a great fit on the top line. It will also be interesting to see how Giroux does on the second line.

Claude Giroux Bags Two Assists In Panthers Debut

Florida Panthers forward Claude Giroux made a very good debut for the team on Thursday, collecting two assists in a 4-3 victory over Montreal. He was plus-two for the night with four shots and one hit in 17:13 of action. Giroux needed just 36 seconds of action to get his first point as a Panther as he combined with fellow debutant Robert Hagg to set up Aleksander Barkov. His second helper came on the power play 7:20 into the third period when Sam Reinhart scored the eventual game-winning goal. Giroux's fantasy stock has gotten a big boost and we should expect plenty of fireworks from him for the rest of the way.
