Colten Ellis Enters Concussion Protocol

Buffalo Sabres goaltender Colten Ellis entered concussion protocol after getting hurt during Tuesday's 4-3 overtime victory against the Edmonton Oilers. Ellis was pulled from the game late in the first period following a collision with Oilers forward David Tomasek. The 25-year-old stopped all six shots he faced against Connor McDavid's crew. He was replaced by Alex Lyon, who finished with 21 saves on 24 shots. Ellis has posted a 4-3-0 through his first eight NHL appearances this season, posting a 3.25 goals-against average with a .895 save percentage. If Ellis misses additional time, Lyon will share the Sabres crease with Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen.

Colten Ellis to Make Second Career Start Wednesday

Buffalo Sabres goaltender Colten Ellis will make his second career start in Wednesday's matchup against the Utah Mammoth. He will attempt to make it two wins in two appearances, having beaten the Detroit Red Wings 4-2 with 29 saves on Oct. 22. The Sabres have allowed three or more goals in six of their last seven games, going 1-2-4, and desperately need a change in momentum. Ellis faces a tough challenge on Wednesday night, as Utah averages 29.3 shots and 3.19 goals per game. However, Buffalo catches the Mammoth at a good time, with Andr Tourigny's team having gone 1-5-0 over the last six games.
