Dan Vladar News
Calgary Flames goaltender Dan Vladar (hip) will miss the remainder of the season but is expected to be ready for next season. "It's obviously unfortunate for 'Vladdy'," Flames defenseman MacKenzie Weegar said. "I think he's been dealing with that (injury) for quite a while. He's a warrior about it. The one thing we do have here is depth at goaltender." The 26-year-old worked to a 3.62 goals-against average and an .882 save percentage across 20 outings (19 starts) this season, going 8-9-2 in the process. He last appeared on March 12 while Dustin Wolfe has started the past two games with both Vladar and No. 1 netminder Jacob Markstrom sidelined, although the latter could return Saturday.
Calgary Flames goaltender Dan Vladar (lower body) landed on Injured Reserve on Friday. The Czech netminder worked as Jacob Markstrom's backup on Thursday against New Jersey, but he reportedly hurt himself during the warm-ups before the game. Vladar has had an up-and-down campaign with the Flames in 2023-24, going 7-7-2. The team has called up Dustin Wolf from the minors as cover for Markstrom until Vladar can return to the lineup. The 22-year-old has performed well in the AHL, but he's had a tough time in the big league, posting a 1-2-1 record in four starts this season with a 3.46 goals-against average and a .893 save percentage.
Calgary Flames goaltender Daniel Vladar entered the game in relief after starter Jacob Markstrom was pulled in Sunday's 5-4 victory against the Ducks. Markstrom allowed two goals on nine shots in the opening period, and with the team trailing by two goals he was taken out of the game during the first intermission. Vladar entered the contest and stopped 11-of-13 shots on goal, while the team scored five goals after the goalie change to pick up a massive victory in their push for the final Western Conference wild card spot. Vladar carries a 2.83 goals against average and .895 save percentage on the season, and the Flames backup could close out the regular season as the number one option in the final five games while Markstrom has underperformed with a 2.98 goals against average and .890 save percentage on the season.
Calgary Flames goaltender Daniel Vladar defeated the St. Louis Blues 4-1 on Thursday and has now gone nine consecutive appearances without a regulation loss. He got there with 25 saves this time around, keeping the Blues back until Calgary broke out with three goals inside the final 10 minutes of play. Vladar improved to 7-4-4 for the campaign, and he has registered a 2.64 goals-against average with a .910 save percentage. Jacob Markstrom remains the Flames No. 1, but Vladar has outperformed him this season and could find himself with more opportunities during the latter half of the campaign as the playoff race starts to pick up.
