Semyon Varlamov has actually done very well in Sorokin's absence, but it's a start of a back-to-back set on Friday and thus we should see both netminders in action in the final two games of the week. Sorokin carries a 22-14-7 record and owns a 2.30 goals-against average with a .927 save percentage and six shutouts. This is a pretty rough spot for a comeback game, but the Hurricanes have looked shaky in recent weeks and Sorokin could still come out victorious if he performs well.

Sorokin has missed two games after getting injured last weekend in a 4-1 loss to Tampa Bay. He's been a rock for the Islanders this season with a 22-14-7 record and six shutouts. Semyon Varlamov hasn't gotten anywhere near to Sorokin's numbers, although he has won both starts since his teammate got hurt. With that said, both outings came against Columbus, and Friday's matchup will be much tougher for Varlamov, who is 8-13-2 for the year with a 2.84 goals-against average, a .915 save percentage and one shutout.

He exited the game ahead of the third period after allowing two goals on 20 shots. Sorokin has been a rock for the Islanders and his absence will obviously be a big blow. They have a good backup in Semyon Varlamov, but he's had a rough campaign with only six wins in 21 starts. Sorokin is 22-14-7 for the year, carrying a 2.30 goals-against average with a .927 save percentage and six shutouts. Islanders head coach Barry Trotz hopes to know more about his injury on Monday. The next game comes on Tuesday against Columbus.
