Nicolas Roy Makes Maple Leafs Debut Saturday

Toronto Maple Leafs center Nicolas Roy (lower body) will suit up for the team for the first time in Saturday's preseason game against the Montreal Canadiens. The 28-year-old has been unavailable for the previous exhibition games due to a lower-body injury. Roy moved to Toronto this offseason as part of the Mitch Marner trade to the Vegas Golden Knights. He finished his last year in Vegas with 31 points (15 goals, 16 assists) in 71 outings. Roy is set to stay on the third line with his new team, so fantasy managers shouldn't expect a boost in his productivity. On Saturday, Roy will skate with Dakota Joshua and Mattias Macelli.

Nicolas Roy Avoids Suspension

Vegas Golden Knights center Nicolas Roy will not be suspended for Game 3 against the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday night. He was in danger of a suspension for cross-checking Oilers forward Trent Frederic in the face during overtime in Game 2 of the second-round series. After a disciplinary hearing with Roy, the NHL Department of Player Safety announced a fine of $7,813 for him, the maximum allowed under the collective bargaining agreement. Roy is a versatile forward who can move up and down the lineup but has currently settled into a fourth-line center role. He has recorded three points (one goal, two assists) and 18 hits in eight postseason appearances this year, while winning an impressive 59.7 percent of his faceoffs.

Nicolas Roy Misses Thursday's Game

Vegas Golden Knights forward Nicolas Roy (upper body) will miss his first game of the season on Thursday versus Vancouver. Roy has been cold offensively in recent weeks, and his season has now suffered another setback due to an upper-body injury. In 31 games, Roy has contributed six goals and seven assists. Ivan Barbashev (upper body) will also miss Thursday's action, so the Golden Knights are set to roll out a new-look offense. Cole Schwindt, who has tallied six assists in 24 outings this season, will replace Roy on the fourth line, while Pavel Dorofeyev will fill in for Barbashev on the first line. Meanwhile, Tanner Laczynski will make his season debut on the third line after being called up from the AHL, where he has been red-hot with 19 points (six goals, 13 assists) in 17 games.

Nicolas Roy Won't Play On Friday

Vegas Golden Knights forward Nicolas Roy is battling an undisclosed ailment and won't feature against the Coyotes on Friday. He was injured in Tuesday's contest against Vancouver. Roy has played a big part in the Golden Knights' success in 2023-24, posting 38 points (11 goals, 27 assists) in 66 outings. He will be desperate to make a quick recovery and rejoin the lineup, as Roy is just two points short of setting his new scoring record for a single season. The 27-year-old will have his first opportunity to return on Monday in a rematch with the Canucks. Brendan Brisson is projected to fill Roy's spot in the lineup on Friday.

Nicolas Roy Set To Join Second Line Friday

Vegas Golden Knights forward Nicolas Roy is expected to join the second line for Friday's Game 5 against the Oilers. The Golden Knights have suffered a couple of heavy defeats in the last three games and head coach Bruce Cassidy has decided to switch things up a bit, with Michael Amadio getting scratched for the contest and Roy taking over his spot on the second line. Roy has been limited to fourth-line minutes, but he's collected all three of his points this postseason in the last four games and could now do even more damage in a bigger role.

Nicolas Roy Scores Lone Vegas Goal In Wednesday's Losing Effort

Vegas Golden Knights forward Nicolas Roy was the only player to get the puck past Stuart Skinner in Wednesday's 4-1 defeat to Edmonton. He ruined Skinner's shutout bid 5:58 into the final frame. William Carrier and Shea Theodore had assists on the play. Roy now has points in three of the four games so far in the second round after managing none in the opening series versus Winnipeg. Depth scoring figures to be vital for the Golden Knights in the matchup as they try to outscore Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid enough to get to four wins first. After splitting the first four meetings, Roy and the Golden Knights have a chance to grab the lead in the series on home ice Friday.

Nicolas Roy Ends Scoring Drought With Two Goals

Vegas Golden Knights forward Nicolas Roy was able to put a stop to a 13-game scoring drought on Monday, lifting the team to a 3-2 victory over Colorado with a pair of second-period goals. It's the first time since Nov. 25 that he lit the lamp. The 25-year-old was a regular scorer early in the campaign, but Roy was completely off form offensively in December and clearly has some work to do to get back on track. With that said, getting seven goals and eight assists in 37 games from a third-liner isn't a bad return at all. He's done his bit defensively as well, delivering 48 hits with 23 blocks.

Nicolas Roy Won't Play Saturday, Dealing With Lower-Body Injury

Vegas Golden Knights forward Nicolas Roy (lower-body) will not travel with the team for their Saturday game in Edmonton. Roy has been deemed day-to-day by coach Bruce Cassidy. The 25-year-old was enjoying his best season to date, so hopefully he can return to the ice in short order. In 18 games played he has four goals and seven assists, and has also contributed 25 shots, 24 hits, and 11 blocked shots. Roy is technically on the fourth line, but is averaging over 15 minutes TOI per game, and has been given time on the powerplay and penalty kill as well. The Knights clearly trust him, and he could be worthy of a streamer in fantasy leagues in some situations.

Nicolas Roy Extends Point Streak With A Goal

Vegas Golden Knights forward Nicolas Roy opened the scoring in Friday's 3-1 win over Anaheim, extending his point streak to three games. The 24-year-old had three shots on goal and produced five more efforts that failed to hit the target. Roy has enjoyed a strong campaign as the third-line center for Vegas, going for seven goals and 17 points in 31 outings. He was also on the top power-play unit on Friday and ended up logging over six minutes with the man advantage during a feisty game. Managers in deep leagues should keep an eye on him, especially with Vegas short a few forwards again.

Nicolas Roy Steals Show With Two Points Sunday

Vegas Golden Knights center Nicolas Roy broke a close game a bit more wide open on Sunday during the third period. He scored just 1:49 into the final period thanks to Shea Theodore's persistence. The defenseman set up the goal as his first attempt to Roy was foiled. His second attempt found the center in the middle of the ice wide open. Roy did not miss going high upstairs for his fourth goal of the season. It was also his second in as many games. Quietly, the Vegas pivot has 13 points in 22 games after adding an assist on Evgeni Dadonov's game-winner Sunday.

Nicolas Roy Extends Point Streak In Wednesday's Loss

Vegas Golden Knights forward Nicolas Roy scored the team's only goal in Wednesday's 3-1 loss to St. Louis, getting to a three-game point streak. William Carrier and Ryan Reaves picked up the helpers. Roy completed his night at the office with three shots, one block and one hit in 12:11 of ice time. The 23-year-old doesn't see a lot of action for Vegas as he's a bottom-six forward. He now has two goals and seven points for the season in 35 games with a plus-six rating. Roy gets a chance to extend his point streak in Friday's matchup against Arizona.
