Oliver Ekman-Larsson Resting On Tuesday

Florida Panthers defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the visiting Ottawa Senators due to rest. The Panthers just completed a stretch of 10 games in 17 days and Ekman-Larsson has appeared in all 78 games for the team to this point in the season. He has been a variable addition to the Panthers' blueline as both Brandon Montour and Aaron Ekblad missed notable time to begin the season while Ekblad is once again on the shelf and won't likely return until the postseason. Ekman-Larsson has tallied nine goals and 30 points with 105 hits and 121 shots on goal across 78 games with the Panthers this season.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson Contributes With Two Points In Victory

Florida Panthers defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson scored a goal and added an assist in Sunday's 4-3 victory against the Blackhawks. Ekman-Larsson got the scoring started less than a minute into the game, as the Panthers forced a turnover in the offensive zone and set up the goal with a nice passing play. The veteran defenseman later added an assist on forward Sam Reinhart's 10th goal of the season. Ekman-Larsson leads all Panthers defensemen on the offensive end with totals of four goals and five assists through 14 games, and the 32-year-old is a solid option in deeper fantasy formats during his bounce back campaign after two difficult seasons as a member of the Canucks.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson Good To Go For Thursday

Florida Panthers defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson (undisclosed) is expected to play Thursday versus the Red Wings. A high hit from Boston defenseman Charlie McAvoy ended Ekman-Larsson's night early on Monday, but he managed to avoid serious injury. Ekman-Larsson has played a very prominent role for the Panthers early in the year, skating with the first power-play unit and logging 23:52 of ice time per game. He has contributed one goal and two assists in eight games.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson Hurt On Monday

Florida Panthers defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson failed to complete Monday's 3-2 overtime loss to Boston, exiting in the third period with an undisclosed injury. The Swedish rearguard had no points on Monday, but he's been playing a major role for the Panthers due to the absences of Brandon Montour (shoulder) and Aaron Ekblad (shoulder). Both rejoined practice at the weekend, but they are still multiple weeks away from being ready to play, so the team will be desperate to get some good news regarding Ekman-Larsson's status ahead of Thursday's encounter with the Red Wings. Ekman-Larsson has averaged close to 24 minutes per game, logging three points (one goal, two assists) with 21 shots on net and 13 blocks.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson Set To Get Look On Top Power-Play Unit

Florida Panthers defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson will be getting a look on the top power-play unit next week when the team starts working on special teams in training camp. The Panthers need alternative options on the power play for the start of the season, with Aaron Ekblad (shoulder) and Brandon Montour (shoulder) out for at least the first couple of months of action. Ekman-Larsson, who was brought in over the summer after the Vancouver Canucks bought out his contract, has tallied 175 power-play points for his career. Florida had the 10th-best power play in the league last season, scoring 22.8 percent of its opportunities with the man advantage.

Canucks Buy Out Oliver Ekman-Larsson

The Vancouver Canucks have bought out the final four seasons of Oliver Ekman-Larsson's eight-year contract. Ekman-Larsson was a big catch for Vancouver when he arrived from Arizona via a trade in 2021, but the Swedish blue-liner never really got comfortable with life in Canada and ended up having two disappointing seasons. His play deteriorated so badly that Ekman-Larsson even spend some time as a healthy scratch this season. He played 54 games and had only 22 points with a minus-24 rating, missing the end of the campaign with an ankle injury. Ekman-Larsson, who will turn 32 next month, had $29 million remaining on his contract. Instead, he will now be paid $19.5 million over the next eight years, with Vancouver getting some cap relief. The team opened up $7.1 million of cap space for next season.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson Not Expected To Return This Season

Vancouver Canucks defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson (ankle) isn't expected to return this season. He has been nursing an ankle sprain since Feb. 15 and Ekman-Larsson will be forced to wrap up his season after playing in only 54 games. He posted 22 points with 90 shots, 58 hits and 43 blocks. The 31-year was also an awful minus-24 for the campaign, so there's clearly room for improvement for Ekman-Larsson, who's in the middle of a big eight-year, $66 million contract.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson Ruled Out For Several Weeks

Vancouver Canucks defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson (ankle) will be out for "some weeks", according to head coach Rick Tocchet. He played less than five minutes last time out against the Rangers after spraining his ankle and Ekman-Larsson will now start a long injury layoff with Saturday's contest against the Flyers. The Swedish rearguard likely can't wait for the end of the season, as it's been a tough campaign for him at both ends of the ice. Ekman-Larsson has posted only 22 points in 54 games and has a minus-24 rating. Christian Wolanin has been called up from the minors and will join Luke Schenn on the second defensive pairing against Philadelphia.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson Injured Versus Rangers

Vancouver Canucks defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson sustained a lower-body injury in Wednesday's game against the Rangers. He appeared to have injured his left leg in the second period and finished with only 4:48 of ice time. Ekman-Larsson was minus-one for the contest. The 31-year-old had endured a horrible season in Vancouver and a serious injury would be the latest blow for him. Through 54 games, Ekman-Larsson has collected 22 points in 54 games with 90 shots on net, 58 hits, 43 blocks and a minus-24 rating. The team also lost Curtis Lazar to a lower-body injury Wednesday.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson Could Be Scratched Thursday

Vancouver Canucks defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson is in danger of missing his first game of the season Thursday against Tampa Bay, with head coach Bruce Boudreau hinting that he will be a healthy scratch for the contest. The Swedish blue-liner has had a nice offensive spurt lately with four points in four games, but the team keeps leaking goals with him on the ice and it's led to Ekman-Larsson having a minus-14 rating through 40 games this season. He hasn't been able to make up for the defensive deficiencies with his offensive production either, with Ekman-Larsson only on one goal and 18 assists for the season.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson Done For The Week

Vancouver Canucks defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson (undisclosed) won't play on Friday against Winnipeg and will also miss Sunday's clash with Carolina. He dropped out of the lineup on Wednesday against Boston, and new Canucks head coach Bruce Boudreau expects to have the Swede available again next week. It's not been a very good debut campaign in Canada for OEL, as he's managed only five points in 26 games with 74 shots and 37 hits. With Travis Hamonic (lower body) also out, Vancouver will go with Quinn Hughes and Luke Schenn as the first defensive pairing on Friday. Tyler Myers and Tucker Poolman will form the second pairing.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson Notches Power-Play Goal In Win

Vancouver Canucks defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson scored a power-play goal on Friday as Vancouver held on for a 3-2 win. The Winnipeg Jets, came in with the league's second-worst penalty kill and it showed. Ekman-Larsson had several scoring chances on the man advantage before converting late in the first period. Overall, the Vancouver blueliner had four shots on goal, three scoring chances, and two takeaways. This upped Ekman-Larsson's point total to four on the season in 18 games for Vancouver.

Canucks Snag Oliver Ekman-Larsson In Trade

The Vancouver Canucks acquired veteran Oliver Ekman-Larsson in a multi-player trade on Friday. The 30-year-old veteran has played 11 years in the NHL all with the Phoenix/Arizona organization up until now. Known for having some offensive abilities, Ekman-Larsson has surpassed the 40-point mark five times in his career. Last season, he scored three goals and added 21 assists in 46 games. Advanced metrics are not fond of the former Coyote and he's struggled with puck possession in recent years. He's signed through the 2026-27 season with a cap hit of $8.25 million although the Coyotes are retaining just under $1 million per year. Ekman-Larsson has modest fantasy value but he deserves extra attention in leagues that reward shots and hits.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson Stays In Good Form With Power-Play Goal

Arizona Coyotes defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson produced a power-play goal in Wednesday's huge 9-3 loss to Colorado, ending March by averaging a point per game in his last six outings. Conor Garland also scored and Michael Bunting had a goal and an assist in his season debut. Ekman-Larsson battled an injury early in the campaign, so he's only on 17 points for the year, but his recent outings are very encouraging. He has a chance to stay hot in a pair of games against the struggling Ducks next. The Coyotes captain has three points in four prior meetings with Anaheim this season.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson Returns To Action On Friday

Arizona Coyotes defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson (lower body) will be back in the lineup for Friday's clash with St. Louis. The Coyotes captain has featured just twice this season and has missed a month of action. He will join Ilya Lyubushkin on the top defensive pairing. Ekman-Larsson was forced to the sidelines following a three-point performance against San Jose. He logs big minutes for the Coyotes and tends to average around 0.5 points per game in a season. He has 12 points in 30 career games against the Blues.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson Racks Up Three Assists Before Injury

Arizona Coyotes defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson tied his career high with three assists in Saturday's 5-3 victory over San Jose, but he was forced to exit the game with an injury in the third period after taking a hit by Evander Kane. The Coyotes captain bagged two assists -- one on the power play -- on Phil Kessel's goals and he helped Clayton Keller on the scoresheet as well. Derick Brassard notched two dimes in the game. Ekman-Larsson has been very durable throughout his career, so hopefully, he won't be out for long. The Coyotes are back on the ice on Monday against Vegas.
