Max Domi News
Chicago Blackhawks forward Max Domi scored a pair of power-play goals in the third period of Wednesday's 5-4 loss to Edmonton. He helped the team to battle back from a 4-1 deficit, but Domi's big performance still wasn't enough to get at least a point on the board from the contest. The 27-year-old led his side with five shots on goal and added one hit and one block to his tally in nearly 20 minutes of ice time. It's not always been pretty, but Domi can be pretty satisfied with his debut campaign in Windy City, with him sitting on 16 points through 22 games.
Carolina Hurricanes forward Max Domi produced a big game-winning performance in Saturday's Game 7 against Boston, factoring in all of the team's goals in a 3-2 victory. He became the first player in franchise history to score multiple goals in a Game 7 and pitched up an assist on a Teuvo Teravainen goal. Domi also matched the club record for most points scored in a Game 7. The 27-year-old has been very quiet offensively since his move to Raleigh and he had managed only two points via assists in the first six games against the Bruins.
Left-winger Max Domi was almost certainly going to be moved, but few could have expected a deal in the waning moments of the trade deadline. That is what happened on Monday, as the left-winger became a member of the Carolina Hurricanes. The trade works out where Domi could easily find himself in a top-six role. Domi had nine goals and 23 assists in 53 games for the Columbus Blue Jackets this season. He had four assists in his final five games despite playing what amounted to be fourth-line minutes. Expect the forward to play more than the 13:25 of ice time a night he had in Columbus.
Columbus Blue Jackets forward Max Domi is set to miss two to four weeks with a fractured rib. The news comes after Domi had made a flying start to the season with four points in two games. Domi's absence will likely give Yegor Chinakhov a chance to make his NHL debut in Tuesday's matchup with the Red Wings. The 20-year-old Russian, who's Columbus' 2020 first-round pick, won the Gagarin Cup with Avangard Omsk last season in the KHL, contributing 10 goals and seven assists in 32 regular-season outings and adding five goals and two assists in 21 appearances during the playoffs. He skated on the third line at Monday's practice and also filled the right-wing spot on the second power-play unit.
