Seth Jones Traded To Florida

The Florida Panthers have acquired defenseman Seth Jones and a 2026 fourth-round pick from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for goaltender Spencer Knight and a 2026 conditional first-round pick. The 30-year-old is still under contract for five seasons so fantasy managers should expect Jones to have a significant role in the Florida defense. Through 42 games this season, Jones has scored seven goals and added 20 helpers. He logged 81 shots on goal, 83 blocked shots, and 62 hits. Given his experience operating on a power-play, fantasy managers should expect Jones to be the quarterback on the second unit as Aaron Ekblad will likely continue to operate on the top line. During 5-on-5 play, Jones will likely slot in on the second pairing alongside Dmitry Kulikov. In Chicago, Knight will serve as the No. 2 goaltender behind Petr Mrazek and Alex Vlasic will take Jones' spot on the top power-play.

Seth Jones Returns To Action Sunday

Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Seth Jones (illness) will return to the lineup on Sunday against the Minnesota Wild. Jones sat out Friday's contest against the Tampa Bay Lightning and didn't practice on Saturday due to an illness. However, Jones is ready to rejoin the action on Sunday, taking TJ Brodie's spot in the lineup. Operating as Chicago's No. 1 defenseman, Jones has logged 20 points (four goals, 16 assists) in 31 appearances, along with 58 blocks and 40 hits. Alec Martinez (illness) is also good to go after skipping Saturday's practice, so Chicago has its top defensive pairing available for the tough matchup.

Seth Jones Expected To Miss Four Weeks

Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Seth Jones (foot) is expected to miss four weeks of action. Jones injured his right foot when he blocked a shot in a game against Seattle last week. He will sit out a third consecutive contest on Thursday versus Florida. The multi-time All-Star is a big contributor at both ends of the ice, and Chicago has struggled without him, losing back-to-back games with a combined score of 7-3. Nolan Allan has jumped back into action during Jones' absence, while Alex Vlasic led the Blackhawks blue-liners with 26:34 of ice time in Tuesday's 3-2 loss to Anaheim. He has also logged the most power-play time among defensemen in the last two games.

Seth Jones Added To Injured Reserve

Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Seth Jones (foot) has been placed on Injured Reserve. He logged over 26 minutes of action against Seattle on Wednesday but also injured his right foot in the contest. Jones will be unavailable for at least three games, starting with Saturday's matchup against Vancouver. Jones' absence leaves a huge gap in the Chicago defense. He's the team's third-highest scorer with 10 points (two goals, eight assists) in 17 games and has racked up 34 blocks with 22 hits. The Blackhawks have recalled Louis Crevier from the minors, while Nolan Allan is another option to enter the lineup on Saturday.

Seth Jones Scores First Goal Of Season In Overtime Friday

Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Seth Jones scored his first goal of the season in overtime on Friday as the Blackhawks defeated the visiting New York Islanders by a 4-3 score. The veteran rearguard beat Islanders netminder Ilya Sorokin from the high slot with plenty of traffic aiding his wrister past the Russian netminder. Jones has endured a down season offensively, like many Blackhawks skaters, as he now has just 13 points in 31 games along with 72 shots on goal and a minus-eight rating in that time. He managed 12 goals and 37 points across 72 games last season but has once again been hit with the injury bug this time around. He is still logging 25:27 of ice time per game, good for fourth-most in the NHL.

Seth Jones Expected To Return Saturday

Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Seth Jones (shoulder) says he expects to return to the lineup for Saturday's contest versus the visiting Dallas Stars. The veteran blue-liner has missed his team's past 15 games and has not appeared since injuring his shoulder in a Dec. 10 game against the Washington Capitals. The 11-year veteran is logging a big-time 25:25 of ice time per game, fourth-most in the league, but has yet to score in 27 games with 11 assists on the campaign. He also has 60 shots, 64 blocks, 25 hits, 14 penalty minutes, and a minus-five rating to his ledger on the campaign. The Blackhawks, currently without phenom Connor Bedard due to a broken jaw, sit last in the Central division with a 12-28-2 record on the campaign.

Seth Jones Without Timetable To Return

Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Seth Jones (shoulder) is without a timetable to return and isn't expected to play before the Christmas break. He missed a fourth consecutive game on Tuesday as the Blackhawks pulled off a surprising 3-2 win against the Avalanche. Chicago has two more games to come before the break. With several other players also missing from the back, Nikita Zaitsev has taken on a much larger role lately and had a big impact Wednesday with two assists. Isaak Phillips and Connor Murphy currently make up the first defensive pairing in Chi-Town.

Seth Jones Stays Behind As Blackhawks Start Road Trip

Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Seth Jones (upper body) isn't with the team for a short two-game-road trip, which starts on Tuesday in Edmonton. He sustained an upper-body injury on Sunday versus Washington and will come out of the lineup for the first time this season. Jones' absence leaves a huge gap to fill at the back for Chicago, as the 28-year-old leads all skaters on the team in average ice time with 25:25 and regularly contributes at both ends of the ice. In 27 outings, Jones has tallied 11 points with 25 hits and 64 blocks. Alex Vlasic should get the biggest boost from Jones' absence, as he's set to take over his position on the top power-play unit.

Seth Jones Expects To Play Thursday

Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Seth Jones (illness) expects to play Thursday versus St. Louis. He missed the morning skate with an apparent stomach bug but it looks like it won't keep Jones out of action. After struggling throughout the campaign, the 28-year-old will be hoping to end the season on a high note over the last couple of weeks. He has produced 32 points across 64 games with 158 shots on net, 95 hits, 115 blocks and a minus-32 rating. Only a couple of players in the league have done worse in the plus/minus column.

Seth Jones Hands Out Two Assists

Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Seth Jones ended a dry spell with two assists in Wednesday's 4-3 victory over Dallas. He had a power-play assist when Max Domi started a comeback from a 3-0 deficit and Jones added an even-strength helper on a Patrick Kane goal. He had finished without a point in six consecutive games before finding his flow again Wednesday. Jones has been a massive disappointment for fantasy managers this season, as he has totaled only 26 points in 47 games and is carrying a minus-24 rating. He's finishing off the first year of a huge $76,000,000 contract and Chicago will be desperate to see him have a big bounce-back campaign in 2023-24.

Seth Jones Has Another Three-Point Night

Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Seth Jones enjoyed a second consecutive three-point night in Tuesday's matchup against Buffalo, playing a key role in a 4-3 overtime win. With the Blackhawks 3-1 down in the third period, Jones produced an assist and had two goals, pushing to game into overtime inside the final minute of regulation and providing the game-winner 2:24 into the extra frame. Jones joined Brent Burns and Scott Niedermayer as the third blue-liner in NHL history with double-digit overtime goals. The 28-year-old has mostly had a miserable campaign during which he has registered a minus-25 rating, but a run of nine points in six games is a sign that Jones has started to sort himself out. He has boosted his points total to 19 and has recorded 86 shots on goal in 32 games with 44 hits and 64 blocks.

Seth Jones Returns To Action Versus Dallas

Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Seth Jones (thumb) will be back in the lineup for Wednesday's visit to Dallas. He has been on the shelf for 10 games after injuring his right thumb at the end of last month. The 28-year-old managed to pick up four points with 22 shots, 16 hits and 21 blocks before getting hurt. Expect him to fill the stat sheet again on Wednesday, although Blackhawks head coach Luke Richardson has said that Jones won't be getting his usual workload at the beginning and isn't starting on the top power-play unit either. Jones will be paired with Jack Johnson in even-strength situations.

Seth Jones Nearing Return

Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Seth Jones (thumb) is getting close to returning to the lineup. He is recovering from a broken thumb suffered on Oct. 30 versus Buffalo. Jones is back skating on his own in practice and Blackhawks head coach Luke Richardson said on Wednesday that the 28-year-old is seven to ten days away from getting back to action. Jones was able to get four points in eight games before getting knocked out of the lineup. He didn't have a good start to the campaign, but Jones is a big presence at both ends of the ice for Chicago, and the team will hope to get him back as soon as possible. He will miss at least two more games, starting with Saturday's trip to Boston.

Seth Jones Out 3-4 Weeks With Broken Thumb

Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Seth Jones has been ruled out of Sunday's game against Minnesota, and he will miss 3-4 weeks of action with a broken right thumb. This is a better blow for the Blackhawks, as they lose their No. 1 defenseman and a guy who leads the team in ice time with an average of 25:14 a night. Jones has had a slow start to the season offensively, boasting four points through eight games, but he's been a beast on the defensive end with 21 blocks and 16 hits. His absence opens up a spot on the first power-play unit, and there should be more playing time available for everybody on the backline.

Seth Jones Assists Both Chicago Goals On Saturday

Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Seth Jones assisted on both goals Saturday night in a losing effort. Jones played almost 30 minutes on Saturday with two defenders out of the lineup. Defensively, he has been put in many unenviable positions. However, from a fantasy standpoint, Jones keeps producing points. He now has 21 in 23 games. Jones plays around 26 minutes a night, averages nearly three shots a game, and blocks two shots per contest. He fills categories on a nightly basis for better and for worse.

Seth Jones Notches Two Points In Blackhawks Win

Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Seth Jones helped his team knock off the Capitals by recording a goal and an assist Thursday. Jones assisted on the first goal of the game that Alex Debrincat registered. He also recorded the game-tying goal in the third period. The 27-year-old has been a bit more productive offensively these last few Chicago contests with four points in three games. The defenseman has three goals and 16 helpers in 22 contests this season.

Seth Jones Adds Helper for Chicago on Saturday

Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Seth Jones had another long night patrolling the blueline versus the Edmonton Oilers. Jones had a shift that lasted almost five minutes (4:55) at one point in the defeat. The defenseman did tally an assist but was not so effective from a category filling standpoint on Saturday. He had just two shots on goal and one blocked shot in 21:48 of ice time. Jones is now up to 15 points in 17 games for Chicago but is close to the league lead in giveaways.

Seth Jones Flipped To Chicago, Signs New Deal

The Columbus Blue Jackets flipped long-time defenseman Seth Jones to the Chicago Blackhawks on Friday. The eight-year NHL veteran has long been one of the better players in the league but he's coming off of a brutal season that saw him post a -18 +/- with ugly possession numbers and a habit of turning over the puck at the worst times. Still, Jones is just 26 years old and showed some offensive flair with five goals and 28 total points in 56 games. His best offensive season came in 2017-18 when he scored 16 goals with 57 points. Chicago certainly believes a rebound is coming. They're signing him to a new $76 million, eight-year contract that comes with a $9.5 million cap hit per year. In exchange for Jones, Columbus received defenseman Adam Boqvist and multiple picks.

Seth Jones Compiles Points In Blue Jackets Win

Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman Seth Jones was responsible for three assists on Saturday against Detroit. The Blue Jackets ended up winning the affair 5-4 in overtime. Jones's third helper came as a secondary assist on Max Domi's overtime winner. Been a tough year in Columbus, but Jones has still managed to have an ok season. He's produced five goals and 23 assists in 56 Blue Jackets contests. The season is over for Columbus as they were unable to make the playoffs.

Seth Jones Scores Twice In Thursday's Win

Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman Seth Jones opened and finished the scoring in Thursday's 3-2 overtime victory against Carolina, delivering the win in the final minute of the extra frame. He now has nine career overtime goals, which is tied for most among defensemen since Jones made his debut in 2013-14. The 26-year-old has been left frustrated in front of the goal this season, as he was sitting on just one goal ahead of Thursday's matchup despite firing off 64 shots. He had a game-high six efforts on goal against Carolina and was finally rewarded for his work. Jones is on 16 points for the season in 31 games with 70 shots, 60 hits, and 60 blocks.
