Tony DeAngelo Expected to Return Thursday

New York Islanders defenseman Tony DeAngelo (lower body) is expected to be available on Thursday against the Toronto Maple Leafs, Rachel Luscher of the Islanders' official site reports. He has missed six games due to a lower-body injury but returned to practice on Wednesday, skating with Adam Pelech. The Islanders' playoff hopes are hanging by a thread, and DeAngelo's creative spark could help the team end a four-game skid. He is third on the team with 28 assists and has collected 33 points in 72 appearances. DeAngelo has recorded an assist in both of his encounters with the Maple Leafs this season.

Tony DeAngelo to Miss 1-2 Weeks

New York Islanders defenseman Tony DeAngelo (lower body) will be unavailable for 1-2 weeks, the team announced. He sat out his first game of the season on Thursday night against Dallas and is expected to be sidelined for at least three more contests. Losing DeAngelo is a significant setback for the playoff-chasing Islanders. The 30-year-old has contributed five goals and 28 assists in 72 games. On the bright side, Ryan Pulock (lower body) was back on the blue line against Dallas, which helps ease the impact of DeAngelo's absence.

Tony DeAngelo Unavailable Thursday

New York Islanders defenseman Tony DeAngelo (lower body) won't play on Thursday against the Dallas Stars. He will miss at least one game due to a lower-body injury suffered in Tuesday's loss to Chicago. DeAngelo has made a big impact offensively for the Islanders, registering 33 points (five goals, 28 assists) in 72 outings. Isaiah George will play on Thursday night if Ryan Pulock (lower body) isn't ready to return. He is considered a game-time call after missing two contests.

Tony DeAngelo Suffers Lower-Body Injury Tuesday

New York Islanders defenseman Tony DeAngelo (lower body) was limited to 6:09 of ice time in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks. He sustained a lower-body injury in the first period as the Islanders' blue line suffered another blow. Ryan Pulock (lower body) was hurt last week and sat out a second straight game on Tuesday. DeAngelo is sixth in scoring on the Islanders roster, producing 33 points (five goals, 28 assists) in 72 games. Mathew Barzal (47) and Matthew Schaefer (30) are the only Islanders skaters with more assists than him. Pulock skated briefly on Tuesday morning and might be able to step in for DeAngelo if needed on Thursday against Dallas.

Tony DeAngelo On Trade Block

Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Tony DeAngelo is on the trade block and has reportedly been available for more than a month. The right-shot blueliner was brought back to the Hurricanes on a one-year deal in the offseason but has not appeared in a game since Nov. 18. A 2014 first-round pick, DeAngelo has collected one goal and seven points in 16 games for the Hurricanes this season but is a minus-10 and has recorded just 28 shots and one hit during that time. He spent the 2021-22 season in Carolina when he recorded 10 goals and 51 points across 64 games before notching 11 goals and 42 points in 70 games with the Philadelphia Flyers in the 2022-23 campaign.

Tony DeAngelo A Likely Scratch Friday

Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Tony DeAngelo is expected to be healthy scratched for Friday's game against the Florida Panthers. DeAngelo has played in all 13 games for the Canes so far this season, but with Brett Pesce ready to return, it looks like he will be the odd man out. Tony D isn't known for his defensive prowess, but he has been decent on the offensive side this season, notching six points in 13 games. He is a -8 though, and Rod Brind'Amour likely wants to see some better defense out of DeAngelo if he's going to be a full-time player. He is still a decent points-only league option when he plays.

Tony DeAngelo Ready To Battle For Ice Time

Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Tony DeAngelo finds himself part of a stacked blue line for the 2023-24, but he is looking forward to the challenge of battling for ice time. "I think everybody should want to battle for ice time. There's nothing given to you," DeAngelo told Cory Lavalette of The Athletic. "When you come in, certain guys are gonna get it, that is what it is. But they deserve it, too. For me, I know I can play." In the same interview with Lavalette, DeAngelo notes that the current Hurricanes backline is probably the best ever assembled in the cap era. It's definitely going to be a huge challenge for him to make his mark on the team, but DeAngelo's offensive ability is a great asset for Carolina, and it certainly gives him an edge over some of his teammates.

Tony DeAngelo Rejoins Hurricanes

Defenseman Tony DeAngelo has rejoined the Carolina Hurricanes as a free agent, signing a one-year, $1.675 million deal. DeAngelo was traded to Philadelphia only last July when he had spent just one season in Raleigh, but he is making a quick return after the Flyers bought out his two-year, $10 million contract that had one year left on it. DeAngelo had a decent campaign offensively in 2022-23 with 11 goals and 42 points in 70 games. He was even more productive as a Hurricane the year before, registering 51 points across 64 outings, and Carolina will certainly be hoping that the 27-year-old can get close to the same level of play in the upcoming season. In 340 career games, the offensive-minded blue-liner has tallied 199 points in total.

Flyers Buy Out Tony DeAngelo

Defenseman Tony DeAngelo is set to become an unrestricted free agent after being placed on unconditional waivers by the Philadelphia Flyers on Friday for the purpose of buying out the final season of his contract. The 27-year-old had one season remaining on a two-year, $10 million contract. DeAngelo joined Philadelphia just 12 months ago when he was acquired from Carolina, and he had a decent campaign with the team, posting 42 points in 70 outings, but the offensively-gifted blue-liner finished the season as a healthy scratch. He has been linked with a trade back to Carolina, and the Hurricanes can add him now as a free agent if they are still interested in his services.

Tony DeAngelo To Sit Out Thursday's Action

Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Tony DeAngelo is set to miss Thursday's game against Dallas as a healthy scratch. The 27-year-old is close to posting his third 50-point campaign in four seasons, having recorded 11 goals and 31 assists, but he also has a career-worst minus-27 rating through 70 appearances, which shows that DeAngelo's play has been lacking on the defensive side of things. Cam York is the main beneficiary of DeAngelo's absence, as he should take over his spot on the first power-play unit.

Tony DeAngelo Suspended For Two Games

Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Tony DeAngelo has received a two-game suspension for a spearing incident that occurred in Tuesday's game against Tampa Bay. He was handed a major penalty and a game misconduct for spearing Corey Perry below the belt in a scrum. DeAngelo will be sitting out Thursday's meeting with Carolina and Saturday's game against Pittsburgh, while also forfeiting around $54,000 in salary. The 27-year-old has skated in 59 games for the Flyers this season, posting 10 goals and 24 assists.

Tony DeAngelo Ready For Action Again

Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Tony DeAngelo (personal) is set to return from a four-game absence against the Rangers on Saturday. He initially fell out of the lineup as a healthy scratch, but DeAngelo has missed the last few games because there was a death in his family. DeAngelo has blown hot and cold throughout the year, but he was in the middle of a hot streak before exiting the lineup, putting together a four-game point streak. He has tallied 16 points in 24 games overall this season with 58 shots, 37 blocks and a minus-13 rating. DeAngelo definitely has to improve the latter mark if he wants to avoid getting scratched again on a John Tortorella team.

Tony DeAngelo Remains Out Thursday

Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Tony DeAngelo (personal) will miss a fourth consecutive game on Thursday against New Jersey. He initially dropped out of the lineup as a healthy scratch, but DeAngelo has now sat two games for personal reasons. The 27-year-old was riding a four-game point streak before falling out of the lineup and has notched 14 points across 26 games during the whole campaign. DeAngelo's absence has allowed Cam York to make an impression, and he's done well, even scoring a goal in the last game against the Avalanche.

Tony DeAngelo Scratched On Friday

Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Tony DeAngelo will miss Friday's clash with Vegas as a healthy scratch. He will be replaced in the lineup by Cam York, who is going to make his season debut. DeAngelo is riding a nice four-game point streak, but his overall effectiveness on the ice is always questioned and head coach John Tortorella has decided to go without him Friday. York has enjoyed a decent AHL campaign with 13 points in 20 games. He skated in his first 30 NHL games last season and posted 10 points, so the 21-year-old definitely has some offensive upside.

Tony DeAngelo Unavailable Tuesday

Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Tony DeAngelo has picked up a lower-body injury and won't be available for Tuesday's matchup against the Islanders. According to reports, he got injured last week in a game whilst blocking a shot. DeAngelo was able to play through the ailment Saturday versus the Islanders, but he now takes some time off. In all honesty, sitting out some action might actually benefit DeAngelo, because his form has been very disappointing. With Tuesday being Philadelphia's final outing of the month, DeAngelo finished November with only three points in 14 games. He has also posted an ugly minus-15 rating for the month. For the whole season, DeAngelo boasts 10 points in 22 games with a minus-12 rating. Egor Zamula will enter the lineup Tuesday and Ivan Provorov is expected to replace DeAngelo on the first power-play unit.

Tony DeAngelo Makes Hurricanes History In Game 5

Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Tony DeAngelo had a big game against the Bruins on Tuesday with a goal and two assists, becoming the first blue-liner in franchise history to record multiple three-point outings in a single postseason. He logged the game-winning goal on the power play and also had one assist with the man advantage. DeAngelo is now on eight points in the series, and he can chase another record next. Jaccob Slavin, who opened the scoring in Tuesday's 5-1 win, holds the Hurricanes record for most points scored by a defenseman in a single series, having finished the first round in 2019 against Washington with nine points.

Tony DeAngelo Returns To Action Against The Rangers

Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Tony DeAngelo (abdomen) will be back in action on Sunday against his former team, the Rangers. DeAngelo has waited for a long time for his return and hasn't featured since Feb. 20. DeAngelo is a huge piece for Carolina's power play and has notched 16 points with the man advantage this season. He sits on 40 points overall with 43 games played. DeAngelo crushed it with three points against the Rangers in the first meeting of the season and will no doubt want to do the same again.

Tony DeAngelo Moved To Injured Reserve

Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Tony DeAngelo (abdomen) has been moved to the injured reserve on Saturday. The move was expected as the 26-year-old defenseman is expected to miss around a month, according to head coach Rod Brind'Amour. DeAngelo is on pace to set a career-high in points as he has totaled nine goals, 31 assists and 40 points through 43 games. DeAngelo should be rostered across all leagues down the stretch of the season as he has contributed positively across the board in his first season with the Hurricanes.

Tony DeAngelo Out One Month

Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Tony DeAngelo (upper body) is expected to be out for one month, NHL.com reported. The 26-year-old blueliner left during the second period of Monday's 4-3 overtime win over the Philadelphia Flyers and was previously considered day-to-day. DeAngelo leads the Hurricanes with a plus-19 rating and is tied for third with forward Teuvo Teravainen with 40 points (nine goals, 31 assists), in addition to scoring 16 power-play points this season. While his absence will leave a hole on fantasy rosters, managers will have to look to other defensemen with DeAngelo sidelined for an unspecified period of time.

Tony DeAngelo Day-To-Day With Upper-Body Injury

Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Tony DeAngelo (upper body) is listed as day-to-day after being injured in Monday's 4-3 overtime win over the Philadelphia Flyers, CBS Sports reported Wednesday. In a corresponding move, Carolina recalled defenseman Jalen Chatfield from the AHL, according to Chip Alexander of the Raleigh News & Observer. While the Hurricanes have won three straight games, they won't want to be without DeAngelo for an extended period of time given his offensive contributions at both even strength (40 points total) as well as on the man advantage (16 power-play points). The exact details of the injury have not been released and Carolina doesn't play again until Friday, so managers should be on the lookout for updates before setting their rosters.
