Adrian Houser Tosses Five Scoreless Innings

Tampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Adrian Houser was able to bounce back on the mound during Saturday's outing against the San Francisco Giants. Before this outing, Houser was blasted for nine runs on 17 hits over his first two starts with the Rays. The veteran right-hander was able to settle down on Saturday. Houser tossed five scoreless innings, allowing four hits, while striking out six batters in the no-decision. Despite a few rough starts, Houser holds a 2.67 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, and a 60/29 K/BB ratio across 14 starts this season. He'll offer some streaming appeal for a favorable matchup against the St. Louis Cardinals next week.

Adrian Houser Moved to Rays

Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Adrian Houser was traded to the Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday. In exchange, the South Siders will receive corner infielder Curtis Mead from the Rays. Houser had an outstanding run for the White Sox during his short stint with the team. He posted a 2.10 ERA and 1.22 WHIP across 11 starts. The Rays bulk up their starting rotation with Shane McClanahan (triceps) nearing his return. Mead is a former top prospect that should get a real chance to play on the rebuilding White Sox. This looks like a smart move by both sides, but probably means Taj Bradley remains in the minors.

Adrian Houser Scratched from Start, Tyler Alexander on the Bump

Chicago White Sox right-hander Adrian Houser was scratched from his scheduled start on Wednesday, fueling speculation that a trade is in the works ahead of Thursday's deadline. The 31-year-old has quietly put together a career year for the struggling South Siders, posting a 6-2 record with a stellar 2.10 ERA. Houser has been more effective across the board in 2025, lowering his batting average against to .248 (down 24 points from last year), while increasing his strikeout rate to 17.1% and trimming his walk rate to 8%. His improved command and contact suppression make him an appealing mid-rotation option for contenders. From a fantasy perspective, Houser is worth a speculative pickup in deeper redraft leagues. If dealt to a winning club with better run support and bullpen help, his value could rise significantly in the second half.

Adrian Houser has Become Viable Trade Chip

Chicago White Sox right-hander Adrian Houser has become a viable trade chip this summer before the July 31 deadline, as he's gone 5-2 with a nice 1.56 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 39:18 K:BB in 57 2/3 innings over his nine starts since joining the Pale Hose. Houser has a chip on his shoulder after being released by four different teams since last July. The 32-year-old spent the 2024 season with the New York Mets but finished with a 1-5 record, career-high 5.84 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and 45:32 K:BB in 69 1/3 frames over 23 appearances (seven starts). Although Houser has only 39 strikeouts in his 57 2/3 innings in Chicago this year, he could be an attractive trade piece for a contending team looking to round out its starting rotation for the second half of the season. Houser would certainly be more intriguing as a fantasy streamer if he were to land with a contender.

Adrian Houser Activated from Paternity List

The Chicago White Sox have activated right-handed pitcher Adrian Houser from the paternity list prior to his start on Sunday against the Toronto Blue Jays. Houser was placed on the list earlier in the week. In his last outing, Houser served up a season-high four walks with three runs and six hits across five innings of work. Through his first 29 1/3 innings of the campaign with the White Sox, the 32-year-old has enjoyed a nice bounce-back, posting a solid 2.15 ERA and a 1.19 WHIP. During this stretch, Houser has only struck out 22 batters but has generated a leite 3.5% barrel rate. Under the hood, Houser sits with a 3.23 xERA, which suggests he should see some minor regression. He is a viable play in deeper formats this afternoon, facing the Toronto Blue Jays.

Adrian Houser Sharp Again Across Six Innings

Chicago White Sox pitcher Adrian Houser allowed six hits and one earned run over six innings in Saturday's 4-1 victory against the Kansas City Royals. He walked one and struck out six to nab his fourth straight quality start. The 32-year-old yielded a solo home run to Royals' first baseman Vinnie Pasquantino to lead off the second inning, but that would be the only blemish -- and extra-base hit -- against him. Houser has been superb in his four starts this season, working to an impeccable 1.48 ERA and 1.03 WHIP over 24 1/3 innings. He'll carry that excellent line and a 2-1 record into his next start -- which should come late next week against the Texas Rangers on the road. He's due for a bit of regression, but it shouldn't hit him too hard (3.46 xERA).

Adrian Houser Tosses Six Scoreless Innings

Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Adrian Houser was once again excellent on the mound during Monday's game against the New York Mets. Houser recently joined the South Siders and has been basically untouchable on the mound since doing that. On Monday, Houser tossed six scoreless innings, allowing three hits, and striking out six batters in a no-decision. He has thrown 12 straight scoreless frames with his new team. The track record would suggest that Houser will come back down to Earth soon, so fantasy managers don't need to jump on the waiver wire just yet. Houser might be worth rostering in AL-only formats, but isn't a must-have pitcher despite his recent success.

Adrian Houser Tosses Gem on Tuesday

Chicago White Sox right-hander Adrian Houser notched a quality start in a 1-0 win over the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday. Houser threw six innings of shutout ball while allowing two hits and walking three with two strikeouts to earn the win. It was the 2025 debut for Houser, who wasted little time getting acclimated to his new team after the Texas Rangers released him earlier in the week. Houser will hope for another chance to show what he can do in the Chicago rotation.

Adrian Houser Signs With Rangers

Free-agent right-hander Adrian Houser signed a minor-league deal with the Texas Rangers on Saturday. Houser will head to the American League after spending the 2024 campaign with the New York Mets. Houser appeared in 23 games (seven starts) for the Mets but wasn't very effective on the mound, going 1-5 with a career-worst 5.84 ERA (4.93 FIP), a 1.53 WHIP, his first career save and a 45:32 K:BB in his 69 1/3 innings pitched before he was cut in late July. The 31-year-old veteran latched on with the Baltimore Orioles and Chicago Cubs after that but didn't make it back to the majors in the second half of the season. The former second-round pick by the Houston Astros in 2011 wasn't much better in seven starts in the minors, posting a 6.37 ERA and 1.44 WHIP in 35 1/3 frames. Houser will most likely open the 2025 season at Triple-A Round Rock as pitching depth for Texas.

Adrian Houser Won't Start On Wednesday

New York Mets right-hander Adrian Houser warmed up in the ninth inning in Tuesday's loss to the Philadelphia Phillies when Sean Reid-Foley got hit. As a result, Houser will not start in Philadelphia on Wednesday against the Phillies. The Mets currently don't have a starting pitcher listed for Wednesday's contest. The 31-year-old Houser has made six starts for the Mets this year but was recently demoted to a relief role out of the bullpen and currently carries a rough 7.63 ERA (5.29 FIP) and 1.83 WHIP with 22 walks and 16 strikeouts in 30 2/3 innings. Houser is going to need to display better command to have a shot at returning to New York's starting rotation and sticking around beyond just an emergency spot start. The Mets will likely roll with a bullpen game against Philly on Wednesday now.
