Adrian Houser Won't Start On Wednesday

New York Mets right-hander Adrian Houser warmed up in the ninth inning in Tuesday's loss to the Philadelphia Phillies when Sean Reid-Foley got hit. As a result, Houser will not start in Philadelphia on Wednesday against the Phillies. The Mets currently don't have a starting pitcher listed for Wednesday's contest. The 31-year-old Houser has made six starts for the Mets this year but was recently demoted to a relief role out of the bullpen and currently carries a rough 7.63 ERA (5.29 FIP) and 1.83 WHIP with 22 walks and 16 strikeouts in 30 2/3 innings. Houser is going to need to display better command to have a shot at returning to New York's starting rotation and sticking around beyond just an emergency spot start. The Mets will likely roll with a bullpen game against Philly on Wednesday now.

Adrian Houser Working On His Slider

New York Mets right-hander Adrian Houser has been familiarizing himself with a tinkered grip on his changeup while making mechanical tweaks to his slider in spring training. His second Grapefruit League start on Sunday against the Astros didn't go so smooth, as he allowed a lot of hard contact in 1 2/3 innings of work. Houser had been unhappy with his slider in his first start and he's been working on a more direct path with his arm to keep his slider from getting loopy. Only five of his 13 sliders on Sunday were thrown for strikes, and he didn't get any whiffs on it either, so it's clear it's still a work in progress. Especially given Kodai Senga's (shoulder) injury, the Mets are hoping the 31-year-old Houser can step up to help solidify the back end of their rotation to begin the 2024 season.

Mets Acquire Adrian Houser, Tyrone Taylor From Brewers

The New York Mets acquired right-hander Adrian Houser and outfielder Tyrone Taylor from the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday in exchange for a minor-league right-hander Coleman Crow, whom the Mets acquired in the Eduardo Escobar trade, according to a source. The deal clears money for the Brewers, with Houser projected to make $5.6 million in salary arbitration and Taylor $1.7 million. The 30-year-old Houser will probably be in competition for a rotation spot in New York in spring training, especially if the Mets find a way to land Japanese star Yoshinobu Yamamoto. He had a solid 4.12 ERA with 96 strikeouts and 34 walks in 111 1/3 innings covering 21 starts and two relief outings in 2023. Taylor, 29, should open 2024 as outfield depth in Queens. He played in 81 games this past season due to an elbow injury and underwhelmed by hitting .234.

Adrian Houser To Return On Thursday

Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Adrian Houser (elbow) is set to be activated from the 15-day injured list and start against the Miami Marlins on Thursday. The right-hander has been sidelined since late August due to elbow swelling. Before that, Houser held a 4.58 ERA, 1.48 WHIP, and 77/28 K/BB ratio over 19 games (17 starts) with the Brewers this season. Prior to this news, Wade Miley was expected to pitch on Thursday, so it's unclear how the Brewers will shake up their rotation. For now, Houser is scheduled to pitch on Thursday, so fantasy managers can expect him to take the mound for that contest.

Adrian Houser Throws A Bullpen

Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Adrian Houser (elbow) threw a bullpen session on Monday, according to manager Craig Counsell. The skipper said Houser is doing well, and it's possible that he'll be ready to rejoin the starting rotation right around when he's first eligible to return on Sept. 12. He left his Aug. 27 start after two innings and was diagnosed with swelling in his right elbow, although not in the area of his UCL. Milwaukee has believed all along that the 30-year-old's stint on the 15-day injured list would be short. It appears that fantasy managers will have him back for the stretch run. Houser has gone 5-4 with a 4.58 ERA (4.25 FIP), 1.48 WHIP, 28 walks and 77 strikeouts in 90 1/3 innings over 19 outings (17 starts) in his seventh year with the Brew Crew.

Adrian Houser Put On 15-Day Injured List

The Milwaukee Brewers placed right-hander Adrian Houser (elbow) on the 15-day injured list on Monday with right-elbow effusion and recalled right-hander J.B. Bukauskas from Triple-A Nashville in a corresponding move. Houser, who was pulled from his start after just two innings on Sunday against the San Diego Padres, is dealing with fluid buildup in his right elbow and will need to take at least two weeks off. The 30-year-old hasn't been much of a fantasy asset to begin with in 2023, going 5-4 with a 4.58 ERA (4.26 FIP), 1.48 WHIP, 28 walks and only 77 strikeouts in 90 1/3 innings pitched over his 19 appearances (17 starts) for the Brew Crew. If Milwaukee sticks with a five-man starting rotation, Bryse Wilson could be the team's leading candidate to take Houser's rotation spot in the coming weeks.

Adrian Houser Pulled From Sunday's Start

Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Adrian Houser was pulled from his start against the San Diego Padres on Sunday due to minor right forearm tightness. Houser was rocked in the first two innings of this one, giving up two home runs on four hits and a walk, allowing four runs to score.

Adrian Houser Aims To Build On Recent Strong Outing

The Milwaukee Brewers and starting pitcher Adrian Houser look to make it eight wins in a row during Sunday's series finale versus the San Diego Padres. The 30-year-old impressed in his last time out, holding the potent Texas Rangers offense to one run with seven strikeouts over five innings for his fifth win of the year. Houser seeks to gain further momentum in Sunday's date with San Diego, who the right-hander has dominated for a 1.74 ERA in 20 2/3 innings (four starts) against since 2021. Houser could be worth streaming in this one for desperate season-long fantasy managers searching for some decent pitching numbers at the end of the week.

Adrian Houser To Start On Thursday

Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Adrian Houser will return to the starting rotation and make the start on Thursday against the New York Mets. Left-hander Wade Miley will toe the rubber on Wednesday. Houser's last two appearances have been out of the bullpen for the Brewers, but he's also made seven starts for the Brew Crew in 2023. Overall, the 30-year-old has a 4.02 ERA (3.96 FIP), 1.54 WHIP, 13 walks and 25 strikeouts in 40 1/3 innings pitched. He has allowed 18 runs (17 earned) on 44 hits (two homers) while walking 11 and striking out 23 in 35 1/3 innings in his seven starts, and he'll be facing a Mets team that has been extremely disappointing in all aspects of the game so far in 2023.

Adrian Houser Activated From The IL, Starting Sunday

Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Adrian Houser (groin) was activated from the 15-day injured list and will start on Sunday against the San Francisco Giants. The 30-year-old right-hander has been on the shelf since late March with a groin strain so Sunday's start will be his season debut. He compiled a 4.73 ERA, 1.46 WHIP, and 69:47 K/BB ratio over 102 2/3 innings (21 starts) last season. He shouldn't garner much fantasy attention outside of deep NL-only leagues.
