Blue Jays
Toronto Blue Jays pitching prospect Brandon Barriera (elbow), who has been dealing with an elbow injury, has undergone a combination of Tommy John surgery and an internal-brace procedure on his throwing elbow. Barriera was the 23rd overall pick in the 2022 draft and is the Blue Jays' No. 4 prospect, per MLB Pipeline. The 20-year-old has only thrown 21 2/3 innings in his professional career and was currently in Single-A at the time of his injury. Barriera has potential in the long-term but can be avoided in all fantasy formats for now.

Brandon Barriera Leaves Minor League Start With Apparent Injury
Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Brandon Barriera (arm) had to be removed from his start in Single-A Dunedin on Saturday after sustaining an apparent arm injury. The lefty threw a pitch in the second inning, then walked back over the back of the mound and threw the ball down at the ground in disgust before crouching down in pain. The 20-year-old is the Blue Jays' No. 4 ranked prospect and was Toronto's first-round pick in the 2022 draft. This news won't affect fantasy managers in 2024 but if those in dynasty leagues may want to keep an eye on Barriera's diagnosis in the coming days.

Brandon Barriera Could Return In A Few Weeks
Toronto Blue Jays left-handed pitching prospect Brandon Barriera (elbow) continues to build his arm up and is sitting at 92-94 mph during live batting practice sessions. The first-round pick from a year ago could be on pace to return from his left-elbow injury in a couple of weeks. The 19-year-old southpaw will be returning to Single-A Dunedin when he's ready after going 0-2 with nine earned runs allowed while walking six and striking out 18 in 13 1/3 innings over four starts before his injury. Barriera still has plenty of seasoning in the minor leagues to do over the next couple of years, but he has the upside of a future big-league starter with a high-90s heater, a sweeping slider and a changeup.
