C.J. Kayfus Connects on his Second Major-League Home Run

Cleveland Guardians first baseman/outfielder C.J. Kayfus hit his second homer in the majors on Monday night to help the Guardians claim a 3-1 victory in their series opener against the Diamondbacks. Kayfus started the scoring with his home run off Zac Gallen in the second inning and finished the game 2-for-3 with a walk, two runs scored, and an RBI. Kayfus is hitting .239 with his two homers, two stolen bases, and a .319 wOBA in his 15 games in the majors. Before his promotion, he hit .300 in 86 games in the minors, totaling 14 homers, four stolen bases, and a .408 wOBA between Double-A and Triple-A. The 23-year-old has been splitting time between first base and the outfield and is looking to establish himself as a key part of the Guardians' young core going forward. He has decent power upside and a little speed, and he could emerge as a strong mixed league pickup if he keeps trending up down the stretch.

C.J. Kayfus Hits Two Doubles, Tallies Three RBI on Friday

Cleveland Guardians first base/outfield prospect C.J. Kayfus enjoyed a breakout game on Friday evening. Facing the White Sox, Kayfus went 2-for-4 with two doubles and three RBI. In the opening frame, the recently-promoted prospect hit a bases-clearing double which scored Kyle Manzardo, Carlos Santana, and Bo Naylor. This was his second straight game in the majors, tallying at least two hits, and his third consecutive game tallying at least one hit. Overall, through his first six games in Cleveland, Kayfus has held his own, posting a .300/.300/.450 line with three doubles. Earlier in the season, Kayfus flashed high upside at Triple-A, slashing a .283/.367/.528 line with an .893 OPS. Given that he is finding his footing and seeing every day opportunities, he is worth adding in all 12+ team formats this weekend.

C.J. Kayfus Called up to Majors

Cleveland Guardians first baseman/outfielder C.J. Kayfus was called up to the MLB on Friday. The 23-year-old is well deserving of this promotion after mashing the ball in the minors. This season, Kayfus is slashing .300/.390/.539 with 14 home runs, 54 RBI, and four steals between Double-A and Triple-A this season. He's a former third-round pick of the Guardians from the 2023 draft. The assumption is that Kayfus is going to see regular playing time in Cleveland. The Guardians are unlikely to call him up just for him to ride the bench. Fantasy managers should keep an eye on this situation.

C.J. Kayfus Homers in Three-Hit Game on Saturday

Cleveland Guardians first base/outfield prospect C.J. Kayfus continues to mash, going 3-for-4 with a single, a double, a solo home run, and two runs scored for Triple-A Columbus on Saturday. The Guardians' fifth-ranked prospect now owns a .313/.405/.573 slash line between Double and Triple-A this year, with 13 of his 14 home runs coming in 60 games with the Clippers. The 23-year-old's strikeout rate jumped from 17.5 percent at Double-A to 28.9 percent at Triple-A this season, but he's still walking at an above-average 11.7 percent rate at the higher level. A promotion to the big leagues could happen in the coming weeks, so managers in deep redraft leagues looking for some pop should consider stashing the former third-round draft pick, who is eligible at both 1B and OF in Yahoo! leagues.

C.J. Kayfus Removed from Thursday's Game with Knee Injury

Cleveland Guardians first base prospect C.J. Kayfus (knee) was removed from Thursday's contest with a knee contusion. However, the team noted that his removal was precautionary and that he is viewed as day-to-day. The budding star suffered this injury while running on the basepaths. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status, as Triple-A Columbus will likely keep him sidelined for a few games. However, it appears he avoided a significant injury. Kayfus opened the season with Double-A but needed just 18 games to prove he was ready to join Triple-A. Through his first 53 games at the top level of the minor leagues, the 23-year-old has posted a remarkable .299/.387/.567 slash line with 11 doubles and 11 home runs. If he can make a quick return to the lineup, he should remain on the verge of a promotion, given his production at Triple-A. He is worth stashing in all 12+ team leagues as he could join Cleveland shortly after the All-Star break.

At Double-A, he held a stellar .364/.475/.591 line with four doubles and one home run. Through his first 28 games at the Triple-A, Kayfus has looked quite comfortable, posting a .327/.397/.570 slash line with seven doubles and five long balls.
