Tanner Bibee Succeeding With Greater Sinker Usage

Since allowing seven earned runs (five home runs) in three innings in a loss to the Washington Nationals on May 25, Cleveland Guardians right-hander Tanner Bibee has leaned more on his sinker, and in his six starts since, he's posted a 2.29 ERA with just eight walks and 28 strikeouts in 39 1/3 innings for a 2-2 record. Through his rough outing against the Nats, Bibee's sinker usage was at 15.8%. In his six starts since, he's used it 37.2% of the time as his primary pitch. "The sinker last year, the start of this year," said Bibee, "it was kind of like a surprise pitch. But now it just feels like a real weapon, where I can really lean on it to get quick outs, like I've been getting. Or I still can have guys freeze on it. It opens up a lot of stuff." In his first 13 starts, Bibee's opponents hit .313 against his four-seam fastball, with a 56.1% hard-hit rate, and hit .295 with a 47.8% hard-hit rate against his cutter. In his last six starts, opponents are 1-for-21 against his four-seamer with a 26.7% hard-hit rate and 3-for-28 against his cutter with a 26.1% hard-hit rate. The 27-year-old has slightly tweaked his changeup as well, so that it mimics his cutter more. Fantasy managers have to like what they've seen from Bibee as the second half of the season quickly approaches.

Tanner Bibee Allows Five Home Runs in Loss, Time to Drop in All Leagues?

Cleveland Guardians starting pitcher Tanner Bibee had a rough outing on Monday night at home against the Nationals, giving up seven runs on eight hits, including five home runs. Bibee gave up a leadoff homer to James Wood to start things off on the wrong foot and never got any kind of momentum going. The loss dropped Bibee to 0-7 on the year with a 4.57 ERA and 4.85 FIP. He has allowed 12 homers in his 12 starts and has allowed 11 runs in his last three games. Despite Monday's home run derby, he has had a few strong outings recently. He went eight innings and gave up just one run in Detroit in his previous start, and he had three quality starts in a row before Monday's disaster. There are enough reasons for optimism to still hold onto him in deep leagues, but until he turns things around, he's not worth a roster spot in shallower formats.

Tanner Bibee to Start on Tuesday Against Dodgers

Cleveland Guardians right-hander Tanner Bibee (shoulder) has been cleared to make his next start on Tuesday on the road against the Los Angeles Dodgers, according to Paul Hoynes of The Cleveland Plain Dealer. Bibee was pulled from his Opening Day start on Thursday against the Seattle Mariners after allowing three solo home runs due to right-shoulder inflammation. The injury was never considered serious, though, and he has been cleared to start on the road in a very difficult matchup. Fantasy managers in DFS will definitely want to avoid Bibee coming off his shoulder scare against the reigning World Series champions. The three solo shots that Bibee allowed at T-Mobile Park last Thursday night were the only runs he gave up, also walking two and striking out seven in five innings of work in his 2026 season debut.

Tanner Bibee Feels Good After Saturday's Bullpen Session

Cleveland Guardians right-hander Tanner Bibee (shoulder) threw a 26-pitch bullpen session on Saturday and felt good, according to Tim Stebbins of MLB.com. Manager Stephen Vogt said that Bibee is still day-to-day, but said that "today was a really good day for Tanner." Bibee was pulled from his Opening Day start on Thursday night against the Seattle Mariners due to right-shoulder inflammation, but the Guardians never believed it was a serious situation. The 27-year-old allowed three solo runs to the Mariners on Thursday in the 6-4 win while also walking two and striking out seven in a no-decision in five innings pitched. Bibee could make his next scheduled start in a tough matchup against the Los Angeles Dodgers, but if the Guards play it safe and push him back, the best bet is that left-hander Logan Allen makes a spot start. Bibee would be a pretty risky fantasy starter on Tuesday if he makes his next start against the back-to-back World Series champions.

Tanner Bibee Day-to-Day, Could Make his Next Start

Cleveland Guardians right-hander Tanner Bibee (shoulder) said he is "doing better" on Friday and threw weighted balls after being pulled from his Opening Day start on Thursday night against the Seattle Mariners with right-shoulder inflammation, according to Tim Stebbins of MLB.com. Manager Stephen Vogt noted that the team is proceeding day to day with Bibee to give him "every chance" to make his next scheduled start. It remains to be seen if Bibee will actually make his next start, but at the very least, the 27-year-old should be able to avoid a trip to the injured list to begin the 2026 campaign. Bibee took a no-decision in Seattle on Thursday night, allowing three solo home runs, walking two, and striking out seven in five innings before being pulled with his shoulder injury. If Bibee misses a start or two, the most likely candidate to replace him in Cleveland's starting rotation is left-hander Logan Allen.

Tanner Bibee's Shoulder Issue Not Considered Serious

Cleveland Guardians right-hander Tanner Bibee's right-shoulder issue that forced him out of his Opening Day start early on Thursday night against the Seatle Mariners "doesn't appear serious at this point," according to Tom Withers of The Associated Press. The Guardians will re-evaluate Bibee on Friday, at which point we should have a better idea of whether he might land on the injured list. The Guardians took the cautious approach in Game 1 of the season, but it's possible that left-hander Logan Allen could take Bibee's rotation spot if rest is required. The 27-year-old took a no-decision on Thursday before leaving with a trainer, allowing three solo home runs while walking two and striking out seven in his five innings of work to begin the 2026 campaign. Cleveland called Bibee's injury right-shoulder inflammation on Thursday night. At the very least, Bibee's next start will most likely be pushed back, but he could also go on the IL and miss at least 15 days.

Tanner Bibee Leaves Opening Day Start Early With Shoulder Inflammation

Cleveland Guardians right-hander Tanner Bibee (shoulder) left Thursday night's Opening Day start on the road against the Seattle Mariners with trainer Jeff Desjardins before throwing a pitch in the bottom of the sixth inning with right-shoulder inflammation, according to Tim Stebbins of MLB.com. Before leaving, Bibee had allowed three earned runs on four hits (three solo homers allowed) while walking two and striking out seven in five innings of work. The 27-year-old could go for imaging on Friday to determine the severity of his shoulder injury. Expect the Guardians to proceed with caution with their star pitcher early in the season, which means fantasy managers shouldn't be surprised if Bibee goes on the injured list. Bibee posted a 3.61 ERA (3.83 FIP), 1.17 WHIP, 23.8% strikeout rate, and a 7.0% walk rate in 498 innings over 87 starts in his first three years in Cleveland. He came into the 2026 season just inside RotoBaller's top-50 fantasy starting pitcher rankings. Bibee will need to be stashed in all fantasy formats if he ends up going on the injured list.

Tanner Bibee to Take the Ball on Opening Day

The Cleveland Guardians named right-hander Tanner Bibee as their starter for Opening Day next Thursday, March 26, against the Seattle Mariners, according to Zack Meisel of The Athletic. Bibee will be opposed by Mariners right-hander Logan Gilbert. The 27-year-old will make his first career Opening Day start in 2026 after going 12-11 last year with a career-high 4.24 ERA (4.34 FIP), 1.23 WHIP, and 162:54 K:BB in 182 1/3 innings over his 31 starts in his third year in the majors. After two strong campaigns to begin his career, Bibee was a disappointment for his fantasy managers, posting his lowest strikeout rate and lowest K-BB percentage while also giving up the most home runs in his young career. Bibee's underlying metrics in 2025 were encouraging, though, and he did finish strong with a 1.30 ERA in the final month of the season. Fantasy managers should target him as a strong No. 3 or 4 starter with safe volume at the top of Cleveland's rotation. RotoBaller has him ranked as the No. 48 overall starting pitcher.

Tanner Bibee in Line for Resurgent 2026 Season?

After posting consecutive seasons with front-line numbers in 2023 and 2024, Cleveland Guardians starting pitcher Tanner Bibee's production fell back down to earth in 2025. Across 182 1/3 innings (31 starts), the 26-year-old posted a 12-11 record with a 4.24 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, and 162 strikeouts. Bibee's strikeout rate dropped from 26.3% in 2024 to 21.3% in 2025, while his walk rate jumped from 6.2% to 7.1%. Still, Bibee's 3.62 xERA in 2025 suggests he suffered from some poor luck. His 71.9% strand rate was well below his career average of 76%. Additionally, Bibee was much better down the stretch of the season, logging a 1.30 ERA with 26 strikeouts across 27 2/3 innings in September and October. Heading into 2026, Bibee remains locked into a starting rotation spot in Cleveland and looks like a quality bounce-back candidate. With a current average draft position of pick 185, Bibee could end up as a value selection for fantasy managers.

Tanner Bibee Fans 10 in Two-Hit Shutout

Cleveland Guardians right-hander Tanner Bibee performed like an ace and improved to 10-11 in a 4-0 win over the Chicago White Sox on Friday. Bibee fired Cleveland's first complete-game shutout in six years, allowing just two hits (both singles) while racking up 10 strikeouts against no walks. He threw 103 pitches, 74 for strikes, and generated 14 whiffs in his best outing of 2025. The 26-year-old went through a brutal July-August stretch in which he pitched to a 6.15 ERA in 11 starts, but he has fared much better in September. Bibee has taken the mound twice this month and logged 15 2/3 innings of two-run, seven-hit ball with 13:1 K:BB. Overall, he owns a disappointing 4.44 ERA with a 1.24 WHIP, 149 strikeouts, and 50 walks in 170 1/3 frames this season. He's scheduled to take on the division-rival Minnesota Twins next Friday. Bibee has faced the Twins twice this year and given up five runs on 13 hits and two walks (10 strikeouts) across 11 2/3 innings.
