Cleveland Guardians right-hander Tanner Bibee (knee) is penciled in as the team's probable starter for Monday's contest against the hosting division-rival Detroit Tigers. Bibee dealt with some cramping in his right knee in his most recent start against the Tigers on Wednesday, but it obviously isn't a serious enough issue to keep him from taking his next turn in Cleveland's rotation. The 25-year-old former fifth-rounder in 2021 out of Cal State Fullerton gave up just one earned run in five innings while walking one and striking out four on Wednesday against Detroit and should be rolled out in starting fantasy lineups again on Monday. Bibee has been solid for the Guards in his second year in the big leagues in 2024, going 8-4 with a 3.50 ERA (3.40 FIP) and 1.09 WHIP with 130 strikeouts and only 31 free passes issued in 115 2/3 innings over his 21 starts.
Cleveland Guardians starting pitcher Tanner Bibee (cramps) left Wednesday night's start against the division-rival Detroit Tigers at Progressive Field due to apparent cramping. Bibee was rolling against Detroit before departing on Wednesday, giving up one run on two hits (one home run) with four strikeouts and one walk in five innings. He was about to warm up for the sixth with just 67 pitches on his ledger when he appeared to cramp up as he came onto the field. This doesn't sound like a serious issue, one that shouldn't prevent Bibee from being able to make his next scheduled appearance on Monday against these same Tigers at Comerica Park. The 25-year-old star right-hander has been great for the Guardians and fantasy managers in 2024, most recently delivering a 2.68 ERA and 0.94 WHIP with 43 strikeouts and 11 walks over his latest 40 1/3 frames (seven starts).
Cleveland Guardians starting pitcher Tanner Bibee put together a strong outing at Progressive Field on Friday, tallying three strikeouts through 5 2/3 scoreless innings during his first start of the second half against the visiting San Diego Padres. Bibee secured his eighth win of the year on Friday against San Diego, scattering two hits and three walks during a scoreless performance. The 25-year-old right-hander will get a favorable matchup on paper when he takes a 3.58 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, and 126:30 K:BB over 110 2/3 innings (20 starts) into his next scheduled start at home against the division-rival Detroit Tigers on Wednesday. However, Bibee surprisingly has a 6.86 ERA and 1.52 WHIP in four appearances in his career against the Tigers.
Cleveland Guardians starting pitcher Tanner Bibee will open the second half at Progressive Field to start Friday's series opener against the visiting San Diego Padres. Bibee didn't have a great start to the year for the Guardians, but he's registered a strong 3.06 ERA with 79 strikeouts and 14 walks through his last 11 starts (64 2/3 innings). In four innings against the Padres last year, the 25-year-old right-hander did allow six runs on eight hits and two walks with three strikeouts. This is a different Friars lineup that won't include Fernando Tatis Jr. (quadriceps) or Juan Soto this time around, however, so Bibee should be deployed with some confidence to start the action post-All-Star break on Friday night.
Tanner Bibee Whiffs Seven Batters, Allows One Run Friday
Cleveland Guardian starting pitcher Tanner Bibee (4-1) picked up his fourth win and whiffed seven batters in 6 1/3 one-run innings allowing three hits and one walk in a 7-1 victory over the Washington Nationals Friday night. Bibee was fantastic and efficient on Friday only needing 89 pitches to pick up a quality start while giving his team plenty of support to pick up their eighth win in their last 10 games. With a 4.01 ERA in May, it wasn't quite the encore month Bibee had in mind after posting a 2.96 ERA in April, but was able to hold teams to two total runs in his last four starts. Despite the so-so month, Bibee was able to escape with only one recorded loss because the scorching hot Guardians offense provided an abundance of run support for him and all of the other starters in the rotation. The 25-year-old will look to start June off on the right foot against the Kansas City Royals next Thursday.
Cleveland Guardians starting pitcher Tanner Bibee had a stellar performance against the Minnesota Twins on Sunday. The right-hander struck out eight batters, allowing four hits, and one earned run over seven innings of work. Bibee was stuck with the no-decision, but fantasy managers will take the strong outing from him. This is now back-to-back strong outings for Bibee, so hopefully he's on the right track now.
Cleveland Guardians right-hander Tanner Bibee will be in search of another excellent start on Friday when he takes on the visiting Los Angeles Angels. The 25-year-old dominated a tough Atlanta Braves offense his last time out, tossing seven shutout innings while allowing just a pair of hits and zero walks against nine strikeouts on the day. He has now allowed just three earned runs over his last three starts spanning 17 2/3 innings of work with only four walks against 20 strikeouts in that time. For the season, Bibee sports a 3.45 ERA across six starts with 35 strikeouts and 12 walks across 31 1/3 innings of work. He will take on an Angels lineup that sits 14th with a .308 wOBA against right-handed pitching this season.
Cleveland Guardians starting pitcher Tanner Bibee bounced back from a shaky start to strike out nine batters and nab the win during Thursday's 4-2 road victory over the division-rival Minnesota Twins, allowing one run on five hits and one walk in 5 1/3 innings. Bibee gave up three runs in four innings during his last showing against the lowly Oakland Athletics, so Thursday certainly signified a major improvement. The 25-year-old right-hander stranded the bases loaded in a scoreless second frame before second baseman Edouard Julien tagged him for a solo home run in the fifth, but it was a great performance otherwise. Heading into a soft matchup with the visiting Chicago White Sox in his next scheduled start on Wednesday, Bibee shows a 3.86 ERA and 1.71 WHIP with 13 K's over his first 9 1/3 innings of 2024. He's a confident start in fantasy for that one.
Cleveland Guardians starting pitcher Tanner Bibee struggled in his first appearance in the Cactus League this spring against the San Francisco Giants. The 24-year-old tossed 1 2/3 innings and allowed two runs on three hits to go along with one walk and three punch outs. Bibee had a phenomenal rookie season with a shiny 2.98 ERA to go along with a 10-4 record and 141 strikeouts in 142 innings over 25 starts. Bibee missed the end of the 2023 campaign with a right hip injury, but all indications are that he is healthy heading into the 2024 season. Health will be the most important factor in his sophomore season, but Bibee has ace potential with a cheaper cost than most. He is well worth monitoring this spring with a chance to take another leap forward in year two.
The Cleveland Guardians placed right-hander Tanner Bibee (hip) on the 15-day injured list on Monday with right-hip inflammation and recalled reliever James Karinchak from the minors in a corresponding move. Bibee's fantastic rookie season will come to an end with a 2.98 ERA (3.52 FIP), 1.18 WHIP, 45 walks and 141 strikeouts in 142 innings over 25 starts. He finished with a win-loss record of 10-4 for Cleveland. The 24-year-old's hip injury occurred in his last start on Saturday against the Texas Rangers when he allowed just one earned run on five hits while walking none and striking out four in 5 1/3 innings for a no-decision. Both Shane Bieber (elbow) and Triston McKenzie (elbow) are nearing their returns and could take Bibee's spot in the starting rotation to close out the year.
