Chase DeLauter a Priority Early-Season Pickup After Scorching Start

Cleveland Guardians outfielder Chase DeLauter is off to a red-hot start to the 2026 season, as he's hit four home runs in 14 plate appearances over his first three games of the year. The 24-year-old has also batted second in front of superstar Guardians third baseman Jose Ramirez all three contests, a good sign for DeLauter's ability to rack up counting stats. While DeLauter was called up to the big leagues for Cleveland's postseason run in 2025, 2026 represents his first chance to establish himself as an everyday MLB outfielder. Health remains the biggest red flag in DeLauter's profile, as he has failed to reach 250 plate appearances in three consecutive professional seasons and has broken his left foot twice. However, if he can stay healthy, DeLauter could challenge for the American League Rookie of the Year Award. In any fantasy league where DeLauter is not already rostered, he should be a priority waiver wire target.

Chase DeLauter Goes Deep Again, Remains a Priority Pickup

Cleveland Guardians outfield prospect Chase DeLauter is now up to three home runs on the year after just the first two games of the season after he homered again in the team's 5-1 loss to the Seattle Mariners on Friday night. DeLauter, batting in the two-hole for Cleveland, went 1-for-4 on the night with a solo home run and a strikeout. In his first two games of the 2026 season, the 24-year-old left-handed slugger has gone 4-for-9 with three home runs (all solo jobs). It's been nice to see from the former 16th overall pick in 2022 out of James Madison University in his first taste of major-league pitching. He also looked good at the plate this spring, batting .459/.535/.838 with a 1.373 OPS, three homers, five doubles, 10 RBI, 10 runs scored, six walks, and four strikeouts in 14 Cactus League games. Durability has been an issue for DeLauter in the minors, but for now, fantasy managers need to swoop him up where he's available, as he's looking like a potential early favorite for American League Rookie of the Year if he can stay on the field for Cleveland.

Chase DeLauter Launches Two Home Runs, Emerges as Top Waiver-Wire Target

Cleveland Guardians top outfield prospect Chase DeLauter went 3-for-5 with two home runs during his MLB debut on Thursday evening. DeLauter wasted little time making an impact as he hit a solo shot off Seattle ace Logan Gilbert in the opening frame. Later in the ninth inning, DeLauter would hit his second long ball of the game (also a solo blast), this time off Seattle reliever Cooper Criswell. DeLuater turned in a dominant showing in spring training, posting a .459/.535/.838 slash line with three home runs and a 4:6 K:BB, which earned him a starting role on the roster. Given his incredible regular-season debut, DeLauter should remain a staple in the Cleveland lineup for the foreseeable future. He is a top waiver-wire target heading into Week 2.

Chase DeLauter Emerging as a Top Early Season Waiver-Wire Pickup

Cleveland Guardians outfielder Chase DeLauter is having an outstanding spring training and makes a great pickup from the waiver wire or an awesome last-round snag. The 24-year-old lefty hasn't played a regular-season game but made his MLB debut in the playoffs last year. He hit .278 in 34 games at Triple-A with five homers and a .384 wOBA. This spring, DeLauter went 17-for-37 (.459) in his first 14 games with five doubles, three homers, six walks, and just four strikeouts. DeLauter's rise through the minors has been beset by injuries, but when he's healthy, he has proven to be an MLB-ready bat. If you need outfield depth, he makes a great pickup late in drafts and could be one of the hottest names on the waiver wire if he's starting and hitting high in the batting order as expected. If he stays healthy (a huge if so far in his career), he has a great shot at a breakthrough season.

Chase DeLauter Looking Like a Potential Breakout Candidate in 2026

Cleveland Guardians outfield prospect Chase DeLauter is looking comfortable at the plate this spring, collecting at least one hit in seven of the nine games he's played, going 10-for-25 (.400) with three doubles, a home run, and a 2:2 BB:K. The Guardians' second-ranked prospect is expected to break camp as the team's everyday right fielder and could be set up for a big year at the plate. The former first-round draft pick owns highly-rated hit and power tools, and has registered a .302/.384/.504 slash line with 20 home runs in 138 career minor league games. His problem, though, has been staying healthy, playing in no more than 57 games in a single season to date. With his health issues finally behind him, the team felt comfortable enough in allowing the youngster to make his big league debut in the postseason last year, so it shows the confidence they have in his abilities. Slated to bat sixth in the order in 2026, the left-handed slugger could live up to his first-round pedigree and return value on his ADP of 198 overall.

Chase DeLauter Scratched on Wednesday With Lower-Body Soreness

Cleveland Guardians outfielder Chase DeLauter (lower body) was scratched from the lineup for his team's Spring Training game on Wednesday due to lower body soreness, per Tim Stebbins of MLB.com. The 25-year-old DeLauter is considered one of the best prospects in the Guardians' system and is expected to compete for a starting role in the team's outfield during Spring Training. DeLauter saw his first taste of big-league action in the 2025 postseason, recording one hit in seven plate appearances against the Detroit Tigers. While it does not appear as though DeLauter has suffered a specific injury, any potential health questions for him should cause fantasy managers to raise their eyebrows. DeLauter has never logged more than 242 plate appearances across three Minor League seasons. He's fractured his left foot twice and missed time in 2025 due to both core muscle surgery and a right hamate bone fracture. If he's slowed down in Spring Training by injury, DeLauter's chances of making Cleveland's Opening Day roster could be in jeopardy.

Chase DeLauter to See Time in Center and Right Field in Camp

According to Tim Stebbins of MLB.com, Cleveland Guardians outfield prospect Chase DeLauter is expected to see time in both center and right field during camp. The team's No. 2-ranked prospect is expected to not only compete for a spot on the Opening Day roster but also potentially carve out a starting role. Throughout his minor league career, the former 16th overall selection from the 2022 MLB Draft has shown high upside but has struggled to stay on the field. Last summer, DeLauter appeared in just 42 total MiLB games, with the majority of them at Triple-A Columbus. With the Clippers, DeLauter held a .278/.383/.476 line with five home runs and a strong 23:22 K:BB. Later in the season, he joined the Guardians in the postseason. If he were to perform well in camp, he should have the edge over Daniel Schneemann in center field or potentially George Valera in right field.

Chase DeLauter Projected for Lead Role in Cleveland?

Cleveland Guardians outfield prospect Chase DeLauter has flashed immense potential in the minors but has struggled to stay on the field, pushing back his MLB debut. Last summer, DeLauter actually joined the club for their postseason run and appeared in two games. Given that he is set to enter spring training with a clean bill of health, DeLauter seems positioned not only to make the MLB roster but also to claim the starting job in center field. Earlier in 2025, DeLauter held an impressive .278/.383/.476 line with eight doubles, five home runs, and a 23:22 K:BB across 34 games at Triple-A. While he has not reached the 50-game mark in each of his last two minor league seasons, when on the field, DeLauter has been very productive. Managers should monitor his status in spring training as he could become a top-sleeper pick in five-outfielder formats if he is penciled into their Opening Day lineup.

Chase DeLauter Making MLB Debut in Game 2 of Wild-Card Series

Cleveland Guardians outfield prospect Chase DeLauter will make his major-league debut on Wednesday in Game 2 of the wild-card series against the division-rival Detroit Tigers and right-hander Casey Mize at Progressive Field. DeLauter is starting in center field and will hit seventh in the batting order. It's a bold move by Cleveland after falling down 1-0 in the series with a loss in Game 1 of the series on Tuesday. The 23-year-old DeLauter has lots of upside, but he also hasn't played in a game since July 11 in the minors due to a right-wrist injury that required surgery. The former first-rounder only played in 42 games at Triple-A Columbus and in the Arizona Fall League this year before his injury and hit .264/.379/.473 with an .852 OPS, seven home runs, 24 RBI and 28 runs scored. The Guards are looking for a spark given their lack of productivity in center field from Angel Martinez, but DeLauter is a big dice role in the postseason in a must-win game.

Chase DeLauter Will Make His Debut in the Wild Card Series

Cleveland Guardians outfielder Chase DeLauter didn't make his major league debut during the regular season, but he will be on the active roster for the Wild Card series and will make his debut in the postseason. DeLauter is the team's No. 2 prospect according to MLB Pipeline, but he underwent surgery to repair a right hamate fracture back on July 23rd and has not played since. He hit .278 with five homers, 25 runs scored, 21 RBI, and a .384 wOBA in his 34 games at Triple-A before his injury. He will obviously be making a huge jump in competition, diving right into the postseason, but the lefty has a dynamic bat and has shown a high ceiling while navigating multiple injuries throughout his time in Cleveland's farm system. The Guardians could use his help in the outfield, and he could be the next surprise contributor in Cleveland's improbable postseason run. Update: DeLauter is on the active roster but not in the starting lineup for Game 1.
