Chase DeLauter Assigned To Minor-League Camp

Cleveland Guardians outfield prospect Chase DeLauter (abdomen) was assigned to minor-league camp. DeLauter is expected to be sidelined for at least 8-to-12 weeks after undergoing hernia surgery. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status as he could push for a late-season MLB debut if he can return to form once cleared for action. Last season, DeLauter appeared in just 39 games in the minor leagues. He spent most of his time at Double-A where he held a .252/.328/.441 slash line with six doubles and five home runs. During his brief six-game stint at Triple-A, DeLauter posted an impressive .304/.407/.739 line. DeLauter is considered one of the top prospects in the sport but has dealt with numerous injuries that have continued to push back his MLB debut. He is a name to monitor during the second half of the season as he could play a role for Cleveland down the stretch.

Chase DeLauter To Miss 8-12 Weeks After Surgery For Sports Hernia

The Cleveland Guardians announced on Tuesday that outfield prospect Chase DeLauter (hernia) had surgery this morning to fix a bilateral core-muscle injury (sports hernia) and will miss anywhere from eight to 12 weeks. DeLauter was seen by Dr. William Meyers in Philadelphia on Monday for an injury that DeLauter sustained doing defensive work in camp on Feb. 28 during a pre-game workout. It's more bad news for the 23-year-old, who is considered by MLB Pipeline as the team's No. 2 prospect. DeLauter has only played in 96 games in the minors since the Guardians used a first-round pick on him back in 2022. Foot injuries have mostly been the culprit for DeLauter missing time, but now he'll be rehabbing from hernia surgery early this year, setting his development back even more. Fantasy managers stashing him in dynasty/keeper leagues have to be pretty frustrated.

Guardians Invite Chase DeLauter To Spring Training

Cleveland Guardians outfield prospect Chase DeLauter is among the team's non-roster invites to major-league spring training this year. Per MLB Pipeline, DeLauter is Cleveland's No. 2 prospect. The 23-year-old is one of the best up-and-coming outfield prospects in the game from a pure athletic standpoint, but he's going to need to stay healthy to have a shot at panning out at the next level. He was limited to only 39 games in the minors in 2024 due to foot and hamstring ailments and slashed a combined .261/.342/.500 with an .842 OPS, eight home runs, 24 RBI and 25 runs scored in 164 plate appearances at three different stops. If DeLauter stays healthy this spring and impresses, he could break camp with the big-league squad. He missed his entire first pro season in 2022 with a broken foot. The former first-rounder has little left to prove in the minors but is an injury risk for those in keeper leagues.

Chase DeLauter Doubles Twice In Three-Hit Day In The AFL

Cleveland Guardians outfield prospect Chase DeLauter went 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles, a walk, two RBI, and a run scored on Thursday in the final regular season game of the Arizona Fall League (AFL) for the Surprise Saguaros. The former first-round draft pick is slashing .350/.475/.511 with five doubles, a home run, and a strong 12:6 BB:K in 12 AFL games. The 23-year-old missed most of the 2024 regular season due to complications from a previous foot injury but hit well in his return and is getting some extra reps in the AFL with an 2025 MLB debut likely on the horizon. Fantasy managers should be keeping an eye on his spring performance as the left-handed hitter offers good power and a keen eye that should translate to the majors.

Chase DeLauter Placed On Minor-League Injured List

The Cleveland Guardians announced on Friday that outfield prospect Chase DeLauter (hamstring) was placed on the seven-day minor-league injured list at Triple-A Columbus due to a right-hamstring strain. In a corresponding move, the team reinstated right-hander Nic Enright (undisclosed) from the seven-day IL. DeLauter, the club's No. 2 prospect per MLB Pipeline, had just been promoted to Columbus and was on track to potentially receive his first big-league call-up with rosters expanding in September, but that probably won't be the case now. The 22-year-old former 16th overall pick in 2022 out of James Madison University has had trouble avoiding injuries in his two pro seasons and only played in 30 games for Double-A Akron, slashing .252/.328/.441 with five home runs and 16 RBI. If he can stay healthy in 2025, he should make his major-league debut at some point in Cleveland.

Chase DeLauter Settling In At Triple-A

Cleveland Guardians outfield prospect Chase DeLauter smacked his second home run in six Triple-A games on Wednesday for Columbus. He's now got a mini four-game hit streak at the highest level of the minors and has hit safely in 14 of his last 15 games overall (20-for-56; .357). After missing almost three months of the season due to complications from his previous foot injury, the 22-year-old has been putting his hit and power tools on display since his return, potentially putting himself in position for a promotion to the big leagues when rosters expand in September. Either way, he's on track to be on the big league club next season, so managers in all leagues need to take notice.

Chase DeLauter Being Promoted To Triple-A

Cleveland Guardians outfield prospect Chase DeLauter will be promoted from Double-A Akron to Triple-A Columbus on Tuesday. DeLauter, the team's No. 2 prospect per MLB Pipeline, earned the promotion by hitting .252/.328/.441 with a .770 OPS, five home runs, 16 RBI and 18 runs scored in 30 games at Akron. The 22-year-old former 16th overall pick in 2022 out of James Madison University missed almost two months earlier this year due to a foot injury, but he's now at the top level of the farm system after cranking a home run in each of his last three games at Akron. The 6-foot-4, 235-pounder bats and throws from the left side and is mostly worth stashing in dynasty/keeper leagues for his raw power. But DeLauter also boasts impressive plate discipline and athleticism for his size. Don't expect him to surface in the big leagues when rosters expand in September, but barring another serious injury, we should see DeLauter make his major-league debut in 2025.

Chase DeLauter Goes Deep On Thursday, Stays Hot At The Plate

Cleveland Guardians outfield prospect Chase DeLauter went 2-for-5 at the plate on Thursday as he tallied two hits, including one long ball and three RBI. This performance extended his current hitting streak to seven games. During this stretch, the James Madison University product holds a .385/.400/.654 slash line with two home runs, nine RBI, and a 2:4 BB:K. The former first-round selection in the 2022 MLB draft has been hindered by injuries all season but has begun to put those behind him. Through 28 games at Double-A Akron, the outfielder has held a .240/.311/.385 line with three home runs, but his recent production suggests he could enjoy a nice end to the summer.

Chase DeLauter Goes Deep On Wednesday

Cleveland Guardians outfield prospect Chase DeLauter went 1-for-4 with a long ball on Wednesday evening. This was DeLauter's first long ball since returning to Double-A Akron on July 27. The top prospect in Cleveland has been on the injured list for the majority of the summer, which has limited his playing time. Through 27 games in the minors this summer, the former first-rounder has held a disappointing .206 AVG with only three home runs. However, DeLauter posted a stellar .355/.417/.528 line with five home runs and 39 RBI last summer in the minor leagues. The number 28th-overall prospect in baseball on MLB.com should still be closely monitored in all dynasty and keeper leagues as he should spend most of next summer in the big leagues despite his rough 2024 season.

Chase DeLauter Knocks Two Doubles In Return To Double-A

Cleveland Guardians outfield prospect Chase DeLauter went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a run scored, and two RBI in his return to Double-A Akron. After missing almost three months with a broken foot and turf toe, DeLauter has played well since his recovery. Through five games between Rookie Ball and Double-A, he's gone 5-for-16 (.313 AVG) with two doubles, a home run, and 3 RBI. The Guardians' No. 1 prospect (per MLB.com), DeLauter is expected to make his MLB debut at some point next season.
