Angel Genao Stays Hot on Thursday

Cleveland Guardians shortstop prospect Angel Genao extended his hitting streak to eight games on Thursday during their contest against Double-A Erie. In this game, Genao went 2-for-4 with a double and a walk. During his eight-game hitting streak, Genao has posted a remarkable .500/.588/.667 slash line with three doubles, one triple, and two stolen bases. During this impressive surge, Genao has tallied at least two hits in one game. Through 22 total games with Double-A this season, the No. 55-ranked prospect in baseball has posted an impressive .318/.379/.447 line with six doubles, three stolen bases, and a 15:9 K:BB. Given his elite production at Double-A this season, Genao could be in the mix to earn a taste of Triple-A later in the summer.

Angel Genao with Another Multi-Hit Game, Adds Two Steals

Cleveland Guardians infield prospect Angel Genao went 2-for-3 with two walks and a pair of singles on Sunday for Double-A Akron, his fifth consecutive game with two hits, during which time he's gone 10-for-17 (.588) with a double, a triple, four RBI, five runs scored, two steals, and a 4:1 BB:K. The Guardians' fourth-ranked prospect dealt with a shoulder injury that kept him out until June 9, but since that time, he's slashing .306/.363/.431 in 19 games for the RubberDucks. The 21-year-old has good contact skills, striking out at just a 13.8 percent rate this season at Double-A, and is coming off a 25-steal campaign in 2024, so there is some speed as well. With such a delay to his season, he may spend the rest of the year at Double-A, but if he continues to collect multi-hit games, a taste of Triple-A before the season is out would be prudent.

Angel Genao Hits Home Run No. 1 in Three-Hit Game

Cleveland Guardians infield prospect Angel Genao went 3-for-4 on Sunday for Double-A Akron, including a walk, two RBI, and his first home run of the season. The Guardians' fourth-ranked prospect suffered a shoulder injury during spring training that kept him out of action until June 6, but since then, the switch-hitter has gone 9-for-28 (.321) with two doubles, a home run, four RBI, five runs scored, and a 1:3 BB:K in seven games. The 21-year-old is coming off a strong 2024 season that saw him slash .330/.379/.499 with 10 home runs and 25 stolen bases between Single-A and High-A. With a strong showing at Double-A, the Dominican should push for a promotion to Triple-A later in the year. Keep an eye on MLB.com's next refresh list, as MLB's No. 52 prospect could be a big riser and has the momentum to make the majors next season.

Angel Genao to Begin Rehab Assignment

Cleveland Guardians infield prospect Angel Genao (shoulder) is set to begin a rehab assignment with the team's Arizona Complex League affiliate. It was previously reported that the team expects him to return to action with Double-A Akron the week of June 1, and this timeline still appears to be on track. Genao suffered a right shoulder sprain in spring training that has held him out all season, but is coming off a fantastic 2024 campaign where he slashed .330/.379/.499 with 10 home runs and 25 stolen bases over 110 games between Single-A and High-A. Cleveland's fourth-ranked prospect (MLB No. 55) could see some action at Triple-A later this year if all goes well, and with a solid power/speed combination, he could be an impactful fantasy asset in the majors as soon as next season.

Angel Genao Set To Begin Simulated Games

Cleveland Guardians infield prospect Angel Genao (shoulder) is set to begin participating in simulated games early next week. Genao has been on the 7-day injured list through the early part of the MiLB regular season. However, it appears the No. 4-ranked prospect in the Cleveland system is nearing a return to game action. Fantasy managers should keep an eye on his progression as he should be in the mix to return to Double-A in the coming weeks. Last summer, Genao spent his time at Low-A and High-A. Across 44 games at Low-A, Genao held a .341/.383/.553 slash line with 14 doubles and six home runs. He was then given the call to High-A, where the No. 59-ranked prospect in the sport held a strong .322/.377/.463 line. Fantasy managers should keep an eye on his progression as he could be in the mix to reach Triple-A by the second half of the campaign.

Angel Genao Won't Return Until June

Cleveland Guardians shortstop prospect Angel Genao (shoulder) sprained his right shoulder during drills in spring training and won't return until June, according to MLB.com's Jim Callis. Genao, who is ranked as the team's No. 4 prospect by MLB Pipeline, is on the injured list at Double-A Akron to begin the 2025 season. The 22-year-old switch-hitting Dominican shortstop really impressed in 2024 by slashing .330/.379/.499 with an .878 OPS, 10 home runs, 71 RBI, 25 stolen bases and 72 runs scored in 110 total games with Single-A Lynchburg and High-A Lake County. The 5-foot-9, 150-pounder has excellent bat-to-ball skills and control of the strike zone, but unless he adds some size, his power output down the road might leave plenty to be desired, especially if he sticks at the shortstop position. Genao is at least another year away from a potential MLB debut, and his shoulder injury will set delay his timeline.

Angel Genao Dealing With Shoulder Injury

Cleveland Guardians shortstop prospect Angel Genao sustained a shoulder injury during spring training that is expected to keep him out of game action until June. The 20-year-old was in camp with the big league club, going 2-for-6 with a walk in his seven plate appearances, and is expected to head to Double-A Akron when he returns from the minor league IL. Last season between Single and High-A, the Guardians' fourth-ranked prospect amassed a .330-10-71-72-25 line in 110 games, so he's ready to see some stiffer competition. Ranked at No. 60 on MLB.com's Top 100 prospects list, the switch-hitter has an ETA of 2026. With a nice blend of contact skills, power, and speed, the Dominican could be a worthy stash candidate in dynasty leagues if he continues to perform well upon his return.

Angel Genao Promoted To High-A

The Cleveland Guardians have promoted shortstop/third base prospect Angel Genao to High-A Lake County. Genao,20, was dominating Single-A in his second go-around with a .341 batting average that was accompanied by six homers, 39 RBI and 12 stolen bases. Genao signed out of the Dominican Republic in 2021 and has shown the ability to be a very good contact hitter. Scouts also like his baseball IQ and he has shown the ability to be a very good defender at a young age. Genao is still a few seasons away from being considered in the fantasy community, but he makes for a fun watch-list candidate to monitor.

Angel Genao Riding 10-Game Hitting Streak

Cleveland Guardians outfield prospect Angel Genao extended his hitting streak to 10 games with a three-hit performance on Wednesday evening. During this stretch, the 20-year-old has posted a .476/.522/.786 slash line with two home runs, 12 RBI, and six stolen bases. Through 41 games this season with Single-A Lynchburg, he has posted an incredible .347/.393/.563 line with six total long balls, 38 RBI, and 11 swiped bags. Genao spent all of last summer with Single-A and posted a much lower .263/.345/.385 line, which shows how quickly the No. 11 prospect in the Cleveland system is progressing. He remains a few seasons away from his major-league debut but is worth following in dynasty leagues, as his promotion to High-A is right around the corner.
