Jaison Chourio Turning the Corner Since Return From Injured List

Cleveland Guardians outfield prospect Jaison Chourio returned from the High-A injured list in early June, and after going 3-for-37 (.081) in his first 11 games back, he's begun to regain form, going 7-for-22 (.318), albeit with zero extra-base hits. The 20-year-old continued to display an excellent eye at the plate, though, walking 22 times compared to only 17 strikeouts since his return, now with an elite 25.0 percent walk rate through 39 games at High-A in 2025, with a better-than-average 19.8 percent strikeout rate. The switch-hitter has always shown a keen eye throughout his minor league career, but he'll need to pick it up at the plate if he's going to see any time at Double-A this year, hitting just .194 for the season.

Jaison Chourio Returns From High-A Injured List

Cleveland Guardians outfield prospect Jaison Chourio (shoulder) was activated off the 7-day injured list prior to their contest on Friday. Chourio is considered the No. 3-ranked prospect in the system and the No. 53-ranked prospect in baseball on MLB.com. The 20-year-old has spent the majority of the campaign with High-A Lake County and posted a .214/.396/.271 slash line with one double and one home run. He has shown a strong eye at the plate, drawing 21 walks and only striking out 17 times. Last season, the young outfielder spent most of his time with Low-A, where he posted a strong .269/.414/.398 line with 24 doubles and five home runs across 98 games. Chourio has continued to show an elite eye at the plate. If he continues to find his swing at High-A, he could be in the mix to reach Double-A in the second half of the season.

Jaison Chourio Beginning Rehab Assignment

Cleveland Guardians outfield prospect Jaison Chourio (shoulder) has begun a rehab assignment with the team's Arizona Complex League affiliate. The Guardians' third-ranked prospect (MLB No. 53) has been out of action since May 3. Before that, the 20-year-old was just 15-for-70 (.214) in his first taste of High-A pitching, however, he was getting on base at a high rate (.396 OBP) thanks to a 23.1 percent walk rate. This was a trait he displayed last season at Single-A as well, recording 86 walks to 69 strikeouts, posting a .414 OBP while hitting .269 as a 19-year-old. The switch-hitter also stole 44 bags in 2024, so there is plenty of fantasy potential here, although he is still a couple of years away from the majors. Look for him to head back to High-A Lake County once rehab is complete and push for a promotion to Double-A in the latter half of the year.

Jaison Chourio Dealing With Shoulder Injury At High-A

Cleveland Guardians outfield prospect Jaison Chourio injured his right shoulder during an at-bat back on May 3, and although he finished the AB, he was removed from the game afterward. The switch-hitter has not appeared in a game for High-A Lake County since then, however, no update on his status has been provided. The 19-year-old had a great season at Single-A last year, slashing .269/.414/.398 with five home runs, 44 steals, a .395 wOBA, and a 144 wRC+, but High-A was proving a bit more challenging this year. The 6-foot-1 slugger was hitting just .214 through 21 games, but was still getting on base thanks to his ability to draw walks, registering an impressive 17:21 K:BB in 91 PA. Chourio isn't expected to make it to the majors for a couple of years, but with solid contact ability, a keen eye, and a penchant for stealing bases, this injury is something to monitor in the event it jeopardizes his timeline at all.

Jaison Chourio Hits First Home Run Of High-A Regular Season

Cleveland Guardians outfield prospect Jaison Chourio went 1-for-2 with a home run and two walks during their contest on Tuesday against High-A Great Lakes. After a strong season with Low-A last summer, Chourio was able to open the 2025 season with High-A. Through his first 14 games at this level, the 19-year-old has held a .240/.406/.320 slash line with just two extra-base hits. However, he has held an elite 15:14 K:BB and swiped three bags. Over his previous nine games, Chourio has posted a strong .281/.452/.406 line and appears to have begun to turn the corner. Last summer at Low-A, the No. 57-ranked prospect in the sport, posted a .269/.414/.398 line. Even though he is several years away from his MLB debut, he is developing into one of the sport's top prospects.

Jaison Chourio Will Play In Spring Breakout Game

Cleveland Guardians outfield prospect Jaison Chourio (wrist) is set to play in the Spring Breakout game against the Seattle Mariners. Chourio suffered a season-ending wrist injury last August but appears to be at full strength during camp. Before his injury, Chourio was beginning to find his footing at the Single-A level. After tallying just seven hits through his first nine games at Single-A during the 2023 season, Chourio held a .269/.414/.398 slash line with 24 doubles across 98 games with Single-A Lynchburg last summer. He went deep five times and swiped an impressive 44 bags. The 19-year-old is considered one of the top prospects in the Cleveland system alongside infielder Travis Bazzana and outfielder Chase DeLauter (abdomen). Fantasy managers should expect Chourio to push for an early season High-A debut given his progression at Single-A last summer.

Jaison Chourio To Miss Remainder Of Season

Cleveland Guardians outfield prospect Jaison Chourio (wrist) will miss the remainder of the regular season after breaking his wrist in a diving attempt to catch a fly ball for Single-A Lynchburg on Saturday. The 19-year-old was having a good season for Lynchburg posting a .269-5-58-69-44 line over 98 games, but perhaps most impressive was the fact that he walked much more than he struck out with an 86:69 BB:K, which led to an outstanding .414 OBP. MLB's 70th-ranked prospect will presumably be ready for next season and should push for play at the upper level of the minors, potentially debuting in 2026.

Jaison Chourio Continues Strong Play At Single-A

Cleveland Guardians outfield prospect Jaison Chourio posted a strong .300/.462/.500 slash line with a triple, a home run, three RBI, a 6:4 BB:K ratio, and an eye-catching 11 swiped bags over the past week at Single-A Lynchburg. Chourio stole at least three bases in three games in this span. This was another dominant week Chourio has enjoyed this season, as he now sits with an excellent .277/.402/.411 slash line, four home runs, 52 RBI, 37 stolen bases through 80 games. The 19-year-old has clearly proven he is ready to move up to High-A, and that promotion could be right around the corner. Chourio is showcasing elite potential and could find himself near the top of most prospect rankings come this time next summer.

Jaison Chourio Incredible Through First Half

Cleveland Guardians outfield prospect Jaison Chourio has been incredible at Single-A through the first half of the season and should see time at High-A in the coming weeks. Through 71 games, the 19-year-old has posted a dominant .272/.394/.394 slash line. He has tallied 49 RBI, stole 26 bases, and holds a strong 55:51 BB:K ratio. Despite getting a bit cold in June, the budding superstar still sits with a stellar slash line. Chourio got a brief nine-game stint at Single-A last summer and has proved he is ready to move up to the next level in the minors. MLB Pipeline ranks the switch-hitter as the 85th-best prospect in all of baseball and the third-best in the Cleveland system.

Jaison Chourio Approaching High-A Promotion

Cleveland Guardians outfield prospect Jaison Chourio has been performing very well this season in his second look at Single-A and should be expected to join High-A sometime this summer. Through 45 games with Single-A Lynchburg, the 19-year-old holds a .294/.418/.425 line with three long balls, 30 RBI, 17 stolen bases, and an impressive 35:31 BB:K ratio. He has been exceptionally great in his past 11 games, where he is riding a .356/.404/.556 line with 10 RBI and four swiped bags. Chourio got a taste of Single-A ball last summer but was unproductive through the small nine-game sample size. The number three-ranked prospect in the Cleveland system is producing at a high level this season and could become a name to closely monitor once he is moved up to High-A.
