Jose Ramirez Hitting Off a Tee, to Return Before All-Star Break?

Cleveland Guardians All-Star third baseman Jose Ramirez (hand) has started hitting off a tee and will progress to overhand batting practice in the coming days, according to Tim Stebbins of MLB.com. General manager Chris Antonetti said that Ramirez has met each checkpoint so far in his recovery from surgery to fix a fractured hamate bone in his hand, but he still has more boxes to check. The Guardians remain hopeful that J-Ram can return before the All-Star break from July 13-16. The 33-year-old Dominican switch-hitter had the stitches removed from his surgically-repaired left hand earlier this week and is making good progress. Ramirez hasn't lived up to his lofty expectations so far in 2026, but if he's healthy in the second half, he still can carry a fantasy team. Through his first 72 games (314 plate appearances) in 2026 in his 14th year in the league, Ramirez is slashing .239/.339/.418 with a .757 OPS, 10 homers, 33 RBI, 24 steals, and 42 runs scored. J-Ram should be stashed in all fantasy baseball leagues.

Jose Ramirez has Stitches Removed, Could Resume Swinging Soon

Cleveland Guardians third baseman Jose Ramirez (hand) is making good progress after having surgery to fix a fractured hamate bone in his left hand, according to Tim Stebbins of MLB.com. Ramirez had the stitches removed from his hand on Tuesday, is feeling good, and could soon resume swinging a bat in his rehab process. The 33-year-old was previously able to resume gripping a bat and has been doing fielding drills while throwing at 140 feet. The seven-time All-Star and six-time Silver Slugger winner broke his left hamate bone against the Detroit Tigers on June 13 and was placed on the 10-day injured list the next day. The Guardians said he'd miss around five to seven weeks of action, with this Tuesday marking the two-week mark since J-Ram had surgery. Assuming Ramirez has no setbacks, he's still another three to five weeks away from returning to the big-league roster. Although his numbers are down compared to his lofty standards, Ramirez must be held in all fantasy formats. He's still logged a .757 OPS with 10 home runs, 18 doubles, 33 RBI, and 24 stolen bases while appearing in each of the team's first 72 games.

Jose Ramirez Undergoes Hand Surgery, Expected to Miss 5-7 Weeks

Cleveland Guardians All-Star third baseman Jose Ramirez (hand) underwent surgery to fix a broken hamate bone in his left hand on Tuesday and is expected to miss five to seven weeks, according to Zack Meisel of MLB.com. Ramirez injured his hand over the weekend against the division-rival Detroit Tigers, and he won't be ready to rejoin the big-league roster until after the mid-July All-Star break. Even though the 33-year-old seven-time All-Star and six-time Silver Slugger hasn't been performing up to his usual high standards in 2026, fantasy managers should consider him a must-hold in all traditional leagues while he recovers from hand surgery. The Dominican switch-hitting third baseman is currently slashing .239/.339/.418 with a .757 OPS, 10 home runs, 33 RBI, 24 stolen bases, and 42 runs scored across his 268 at-bats in 2026. Until J-Ram can return from his hand injury, utility infielder Gabriel Arias is expected to handle most of the playing time at the hot corner in Cleveland.

Jose Ramirez Heading to Injured List with Fractured Hamate Bone

Cleveland Guardians third baseman Jose Ramirez (hand) made an early exit from Saturday's game against the Detroit Tigers. Ramirez was pulled in the sixth inning with an undisclosed injury. Now, Ramirez has been diagnosed with a fractured left hamate bone and will head to the Injured List. The Guardians haven't given a timetable for Ramirez, but he figures to miss at least a month of action. The expectation is that David Fry and Daniel Schneemann will see increased opportunities at the hot corner. The Guardians could turn to prospect Angel Genao, but that's likely dependent on how long Ramirez is going to be sidelined. This is a tough break for the Guardians and for fantasy managers who will be without the superstar slugger for an extended period of time.

Jose Ramirez Remains an Elite Third Baseman Despite Underwhelming Production

Across 276 plate appearances entering play on Thursday, Cleveland Guardians third baseman Jose Ramirez had hit .245/.351/.433 with nine home runs, 32 RBI, 36 runs scored, and 21 stolen bases. While the 33-year-old's .784 OPS this season still represents above-average production, it's well below the .868 OPS he posted across back-to-back top-five finishes in the American League MVP vote in 2024 and 2025. Still, Ramirez's 7% barrel rate is right in line with his career norms, and his 44.8% hard-hit rate is actually the best mark of his career. Ramirez's plate skills also remain elite, as he's drawn 39 walks on the season and struck out just 35 times. Ramirez is already an elite source of speed, and there's plenty of reason to believe that the rest of his fantasy profile will return to elite status over the remainder of 2026.

Jose Ramirez Making an Impact Despite Low Batting Average?

Cleveland Guardians third baseman Jose Ramirez's basic offensive statistics have taken a step backward so far this season. For now, fantasy managers are dealing with a low hit and high strikeout output from the veteran third baseman. After a brief stretch where it looked like he was turning things around, Ramirez has fallen back into a mini-slump, hitting 1-for-11 with a single, a walk, and a strikeout over his last three games. The bad news is that Ramirez is hitting just .221 with a 12.7% strikeout rate, which is his worst since 2021. The good news is that he owns a .343 OBP with a 15.7% walk rate, six home runs, and 115 wRC+. That's his lowest wRC+ mark since 2019, but at least he remains above league average. More hits will provide more value in fantasy baseball, but the Guardians can't complain about his walk and power rates, even if the batting average is ugly. He's also remained a threat on the basepaths, swiping 11 bags to this point.

Jose Ramirez Back in Cactus League Lineup on Thursday

Cleveland Guardians third baseman Jose Ramirez (shoulder) is back at third base and will bat third in the team's Cactus League game on Thursday against the Kansas City Royals, according to MLB.com. Ramirez left the spring training game last Sunday with shoulder inflammation, but the 33-year-old veteran is back and should have no issues being ready to go for Opening Day next week. He's gone 7-for-30 (.233) with two home runs, nine RBI, three runs scored, and three stolen bases in 13 Cactus League games this spring. J-Ram is a seven-time All-Star and six-time Silver Slugger who has been one of the best all-around hitters for the last eight seasons. He's ranked as the No. 6 overall player in fantasy baseball as he heads into his 14th MLB season. Not only is Ramirez durable, but he provides across all fantasy categories. He hit .283/.360/.503 with an .863 OPS, 30 homers, 85 RBI, 103 runs, and a career-high 44 stolen bases in 2025. Ramirez has hit 30-plus homers in three of the last five seasons and has 40-plus steals in each of the last two years. The dude does it all.

No Plans for Jose Ramirez to Undergo Imaging on Injured Shoulder

Cleveland Guardians manager Stephen Vogt said on Monday that third baseman Jose Ramirez (shoulder) is doing much better on Monday after exiting Sunday's Cactus League game against the Athletics with left-shoulder soreness, according to Tim Stebbins of MLB.com. Ramirez tested his shoulder on Monday and doesn't have any plans to undergo imaging. "He's feeling much, much better today, so we're going to reassess him day by day. He should be just fine in a few days," Vogt said. The 33-year-old seven-time All-Star and six-time Silver Slugger winner is day-to-day for now and should be good to go for Opening Day at the end of the month. It's great news for the Guardians and fantasy managers. J-Ram has been one of the best all-around hitters for the last eight years. He has made the All-Star team each of the last five seasons and has hit 30-plus home runs in three of the last five years, while also driving in over 100 runs in three of the last five years and stealing 40-plus bases in the last two seasons. Ramirez is a top-10 overall fantasy player.

Jose Ramirez is Day-to-Day with Shoulder Inflammation

Cleveland Guardians third baseman Jose Ramirez (shoulder) was removed early during Saturday's Cactus League matchup against the Chicago White Sox. Ramirez jammed his left shoulder while doing a head-first slide into third base. After the game, Guardians manager Stephen Vogt said that Ramirez is day-to-day with left shoulder inflammation. Fantasy managers can take a sigh of relief as it doesn't appear that Ramirez has suffered a significant injury. He could still potentially miss time, but this doesn't sound like something that will require a lengthy absence. The Guardians might have Ramirez undergo further testing, so fantasy managers should check back for another update on the superstar slugger.

Is Jose Ramirez Worth a Top-Five Pick in 2026 Drafts?

Cleveland Guardians third baseman Jose Ramirez has been one of the better players in baseball for the better part of the last 10 years. He posted another excellent season in 2025, hitting .282/.360/.503 with 30 home runs, 85 RBI, 103 runs scored, and 44 stolen bases across 673 plate appearances. Ramirez has logged at least 630 plate appearances in five consecutive seasons and has now recorded back-to-back campaigns with at least 30 home runs and 40 stolen bases. He has not recorded a strikeout rate higher than 12% since 2021, providing him with a safe batting average floor as well. If there's one flaw in Ramirez's profile, it's that he does not make consistently elite contact. With a 7% barrel rate and a 37% hard-hit rate in 2025, Ramirez's underlying power metrics are below-average. Still, the 33-year-old has a proven track record of maxing out his skill set. Ramirez remains an elite third base option who should be selected in the early part of the first round in fantasy drafts heading into 2026.
