Guardians
Cleveland Guardians starting pitcher Joey Cantillo turned in the best start of his young career in Monday's 5-3 win over the White Sox. Cantillo, who was recalled from Triple-A Columbus ahead of the start, pitched seven innings, allowing one run on two hits and no walks with 10 strikeouts, earning his first career win. The 24-year-old prospect has made six appearances (five starts) with the Guardians and owns a bloated 5.96 ERA in 25 2/3 IP. He has pitched better at Triple-A, but it does not seem he necessarily has a clear path to playing time down the stretch in the big leagues. It is possible he could make a few more spot starts, but he seems to be a more relevant player in dynasty or keeper fantasy leagues at this time.

Joey Cantillo Called Up By Guardians
The Cleveland Guardians recalled left-handed pitching prospect Joey Cantillo from Triple-A Columbus on Monday, and he's expected to appear in Game 1 of the team's doubleheader against the division-rival Kansas City Royals at Progressive Field. Right-hander Nick Sandlin is getting the starting nod on the bump, but Cantillo, the team's No. 17 prospect per MLB Pipeline, could serve in a bulk-relief role. In Cantillo's first four big-league starts, he went 0-3 with an 8.47 ERA and 1.76 WHIP while striking out 14 and waking nine in 17 innings pitched. Fantasy managers would be wise to avoid the 24-year-old southpaw in his first major-league appearance since Aug. 21, especially with a tough matchup against the Royals on tap. Cantillo is expected to be sent back to Columbus after the team's twin bill on Monday.

Joey Cantillo Called Up To Start Game 1 On Friday
The Cleveland Guardians recalled left-handed pitching prospect Joey Cantillo from Triple-A Columbus on Friday to serve as their 27th man and start in Game 1 of a doubleheader against the hosting division-rival Minnesota Twins. Cantillo, the team's No. 9 prospect per MLB Pipeline, will be making his third major-league start for Cleveland after allowing six earned runs on 10 hits (two homers) while walking three and fanning seven in his first two starts versus the Philadelphia Phillies and Baltimore Orioles. The 24-year-old southpaw will get another difficult matchup on the road and will most likely head back to Columbus to continue his development after this spot start. In eight outings (seven starts) at Columbus this year, he's posted a 2.79 ERA, A 1.48 WHIP and a 39:19 K:BB in 29 innings pitched. Consider Cantillo a risky fantasy streamer with minimal upside on Friday.

Joey Cantillo Sent To Triple-A, Eli Morgan Recalled
Cleveland Guardians starting pitching prospect Joey Cantillo is being optioned to Triple-A Columbus to make room for right-handed pitcher Eli Morgan. Cantillo made his first two starts at the major league level over the past two weeks and held a 7.36 ERA, 1.77 WHIP, and a 3:7 BB:K ratio. Cantillo should get another opportunity in the big league later this summer as he performed well at Triple-A in the past with a 2.39 ERA and 1.48 WHIP. This transaction makes for Eli Morgan to return to the big leagues. Morgan has split this season, bouncing between the majors and Triple-A. In the big leagues, he has held a strong 1.98 ERA and 1.17 across 13 innings of relief. Morgan was typically deployed in the seventh inning in the past, and fantasy managers should expect him to reclaim a similar role. Morgan is worth a look in deeper leagues that score holds, as he should typically be pitching with a lead playing on a strong Guardians team.

Joey Cantillo To Make MLB Debut On Sunday
Cleveland Guardians starting pitching prospect Joey Cantillo is being promoted from Triple-A Columbus to make his major-league debut on Sunday against the Philadelphia Phillies. The 24-year-old battled a hamstring injury earlier this summer but has looked quite sharp since returning to the bump. In 29 innings at the top level of the minor leagues, the southpaw has held a 2.79 ERA, 1.48 WHIP, and a 19:39 BB:K ratio. In his past three outings, he has carried a strong 1.98 ERA and 1.17 WHIP. Cantillo could carve out a role in the Cleveland rotation especially since the Guardians are lacking a stable number five option. Cantillo is a name to keep an eye on in deeper redraft leagues going forward, but he is best to fade in DFS this afternoon as he will face one of the best lineups in baseball.

Guardians Assign Joey Cantillo To Triple-A
After completing his rehab assignment, Cleveland Guardians pitching prospect Joey Cantillo (hamstring) has been reassigned to Triple-A Columbus. The left-hander had a nice spring before being sidelined with a strained hamstring. According to MLB Pipeline, Cantillo is the Guardians' No. 10 prospect, moving up from No. 19 in 2023. Cantillo has performed well in his professional career, but injuries have held him back. Cantillo rolled through the lower levels of the system, but had the worst ERA of his career at 4.64 for Columbus in 20 game (18 starts) last season. Cantillo has been an exciting strike-thrower for the Guardians, but he will need to maintain his health first and foremost. If he is able to stay on the hill, there is a chance he gets the call to the big leagues sometime this summer.
