Travis Bazzana Heating Up, an Emerging Rookie to Target on Waiver Wire

Cleveland Guardians rookie second baseman Travis Bazzana went through a cold spell early in June for the first time in his major-league career, but he has snapped out of his funk of late and is attracting interest again on the waiver wire in fantasy baseball leagues. The 23-year-old left-handed hitter from Australia is batting .261/.357/.446 overall with an .802 OPS, seven home runs, 24 RBI, 24 runs scored, and 12 stolen bases in just 50 games and 213 plate appearances as Cleveland's starting second baseman. The former first overall pick in 2024 out of Oregon State is not known for his power, but rather his speed and mature approach at the plate. He's as patient a young hitter as you'll find, and he rarely chases outside of the strike zone early in counts, making him a solid asset in on-base-percentage leagues. After slumping earlier in the month, Bazzana has gone 10-for-30 (.333) with three home runs, two doubles, seven RBI, eight runs scored, and a steal in his last eight games. You could do much worse in fantasy at the second base position, and Bazzana is only rostered in half of Yahoo leagues at the moment.

Travis Bazzana a Must-Add Off Waiver Wire After First Multi-Homer Performance

Cleveland Guardians rookie second baseman Travis Bazzana appears to be the real deal. After recently slumping for the first time in his big-league career following a hot start, Bazzana is heating up quickly. The 23-year-old former first overall pick in 2024 from Oregon State University went 4-for-4 at the plate in Saturday's 8-1 win over the Houston Astros at Daikin Park with two home runs, a career-high five RBI, and three runs scored to boost his season average to .274 and his OPS to .845 out of the leadoff spot. Both of his round-trippers came off Astros right-handed starter Spencer Arrighetti, and it was the first multi-homer game and four-hit game of his young MLB career. Bazzana came into Saturday's tilt hitting .182 in 15 games in June, but he has quickly turned that around and is now slashing .274/.369/.476 with seven homers, 23 RBI, 11 stolen bases, and 22 runs scored in his first 46 big-league games. He put on a power display on Saturday in Houston, but Bazzana is best known for his eagle eye and patience at the plate, helping fantasy managers in leagues that count on-base percentage. The Australian second baseman is rostered in only 39% of Yahoo leagues and needs to be snagged off the waiver wire ASAP.

Travis Bazzana Heating Up Again, a Waiver-Wire Option to Monitor

Guardians infielder Travis Bazzana has started to find his rhythm after a slower stretch to begin the month, going 2-for-4 on Friday with a double and a run scored. Bazzana hit .311 in May before cooling off as the calendar turned to June, but recent results suggest he may be turning things around. The No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 MLB Draft has recorded four hits over his last three games, with three going for extra bases. He is now slashing .256/.356/.427 with five home runs, a .783 OPS, and 11 stolen bases. The 23-year-old has shown steady growth during his rookie season, and fantasy managers should continue monitoring his progress as he looks to build momentum moving forward.

Travis Bazzana Still Worth Rostering After Recent Cold Stretch?

In his first 30 major-league games since being called up on April 28, Cleveland Guardians second base prospect Travis Bazzana, the first overall pick in 2024 out of Oregon State University, went 32-for-109 (.294) with three home runs, eight doubles, 11 RBI, eight stolen bases, 13 runs scored, 15 walks, and 24 strikeouts in 126 plate appearances. The Aussie has been in a bit of a rough stretch since the calendar flipped to June, though, going 6-for-42 (.143) with a homer, a double, a triple, six RBI, three runs scored, three steals, five walks, and 11 strikeouts in 11 games played to drop his season slash line to .252/.345/.404 in his first 174 plate appearances. At one point, the 23-year-old left-handed hitter had a stretch of zero hits in 17 at-bats. Nobody was expecting Bazzana to light up the league like a seasoned vet from start to finish in 2026. The good news is that he's still only striking out at a 20.1% clip while walking 11.5% of the time. Plate discipline and patience have always been a strong suit for Bazzana, who is still worth rostering in deeper fantasy leagues that count on-base percentage. He's rostered in only 42% of Yahoo leagues.

Travis Bazzana a Must-Add Off Waiver Wire in On-Base-Percentage Leagues?

Cleveland Guardians rookie second baseman Travis Bazzana has absolutely looked like he belongs in the big leagues through his first 33 games with the Guards. While mostly serving as Cleveland's leadoff hitter and thriving atop the batting order, the 23-year-old left-handed-hitting Aussie has hit .273 (33-for-121) with three home runs, 15 RBI, eight stolen bases, and 13 runs scored across his first 139 big-league plate appearances. Bazzana was curiously dropped to the cleanup spot in Thursday's loss to the New York Yankees, but it was likely only because the Yanks had a tough left-hander on the mound. The former first overall pick out of Oregon State University in 2024 should return to the leadoff spot this weekend, where he has looked very comfortable despite his first taste of major-league pitching. Bazzana isn't going to offer a ton of power from the left side at the keystone, but he's an extremely patient hitter who will get on base frequently and take advantage of his plus speed. In OBP leagues, he should be scooped up now. Bazzana is somehow still available in just over half of Yahoo leagues.

Travis Bazzana a Must-Add Player off the Waiver Wire

Cleveland Guardians' No. 1 prospect and MLB's 13th-ranked overall prospect, Travis Bazzana, is breaking out in a big way since his call-up to the big league club back on April 28. Over the past month, Bazzana has slashed .302/.407/.458 with three home runs, 12 runs scored, 11 RBI, and seven stolen bases. Additionally, he has been batting leadoff against right-handed pitchers of late with the slumping Steven Kwan, which only should improve what he is already showcasing. He is displaying his upside by producing across all major fantasy categories. Bazzana, who is 23 years old and a former No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 MLB Draft, doesn't appear to be going anywhere anytime soon. Bazzana, if available on your waiver wire, should be picked up, as he is approaching must-start territory.

Travis Bazzana Holding his Own, Worth a Look on the Waiver Wire

Cleveland Guardians rookie second baseman Travis Bazzana debuted to plenty of fanfare on April 28 after the Guards took the Australian infielder first overall in 2024 out of Oregon State, and the highly-regarded prospect has quickly made his mark in the majors. The 23-year-old left-handed-hitting second baseman has gone 21-for-73 (.288) in his first 21 big-league contests, adding two home runs, nine RBI, seven stolen bases, and 10 runs scored across 88 plate appearances. Bazzana isn't going to be a major asset for fantasy managers in the power department, but his advanced approach at the plate is already paying dividends as Cleveland's starting second baseman of the future. The 5-foot-11, 199-pounder has been especially hot in his last eight games, going 13-for-32 (.406) with a homer, three RBI, and three runs scored in his 33 plate appearances. Fantasy managers in need of a boost in on-base percentage at the second base position should look no further than Bazzana, who is currently available in over half of Yahoo leagues.

Travis Bazzana a Rookie Waiver-Wire Target in OBP Leagues

Cleveland Guardians rookie second baseman Travis Bazzana, the team's top prospect per MLB Pipeline, is worth considering off the waiver wire for his speed and on-base abilities after recently debuting in the big leagues. The 23-year-old Australian has gone just 10-for-45 (.222) at the plate with one home run in his first 14 major-league games with the Guards, but he's also produced a .407 on-base percentage with 12 walks and nine strikeouts, and he has added seven stolen bases in 59 plate appearances. He's extremely disciplined as a hitter and rarely chases, so he should continue to take plenty of walks and get on base frequently, even if he's not hitting for average or power. Bazzana has a quick, compact swing from the left side and is more of a gap-to-gap hitter than one that features over-the-fence pop. Fantasy managers looking for counting stats should look elsewhere, but those in need of a boost in OBP should look his way. Bazzana is currently rostered in 42% of Yahoo leagues.

Guardians Calling Up Former First Overall Pick Travis Bazzana

The Cleveland Guardians are calling up former No. 1 overall pick Travis Bazzana from Triple-A Columbus, sources told Jeff Passan of ESPN. The 23-year-old Australian hit .287/.422/.511 with two home runs, 11 doubles, two triples, 10 RBI, eight stolen bases, and 18 runs scored in 24 games for Columbus to earn his first big-league call-up. Passan writes that Bazzana will take over at second base for a Guardians team that is a half-game out of first place in the American League Central division early in the year. Bazzana's arrival in the big leagues this week is bad news for the playing time of both Juan Brito and Daniel Schneeman, who had been platooning at the keystone for the Guards. Bazzana is currently rostered in only 9% of Yahoo fantasy leagues, but that number will surely rise now that he's set for regular playing time in the big leagues. The former Oregon State star projects as a plus hitter at a shallow second base position in fantasy who should have average power and plenty of on-base skills because of his disciplined approach as a hitter. Bazzana also has quick hands, a short, compact swing at the plate, and plus speed on the base paths.

Travis Bazzana Not Slowing Down at Triple-A, Entering Elite Stash Territory?

Cleveland Guardians infield prospect Travis Bazzana has continued to play at a high level at Triple-A Columbus and is quickly entering must-stash territory among hitting prospects. Over the first 11 games of the Triple-A regular season, the former Oregon State standout struggled to find his footing, posting a low .191/.296/.319 slash line with just two doubles and two triples. However, since this sluggish start, the former first-overall pick has begun to look like his former self, holding a much higher .405/.532/.676 slash line with seven doubles, one home run, and an elite 1.208 OPS over his last 10 contests. During this stretch, he has struck out just nine times while drawing 10 walks and stealing four bases. Given the Guardians could use depth in the middle of their infield with Gabriel Arias on the 10-day injured list, Bazzana is worth viewing as a top stash option in standard 12-team leagues.
