Travis Bazzana Removed With Oblique Injury on Thursday

Cleveland Guardians second base prospect Travis Bazzana (oblique) was removed from Thursday's game at Triple-A Columbus with left oblique soreness. The Guardians' top-ranked prospect missed two months earlier this season due to an oblique injury, although that was on his right side. The 2024 top draft pick was promoted to Triple-A in mid-August, and although he was hitting just .225 at the time of the injury, the left-handed slugger had recently popped four home runs over a four-game stretch, seemingly starting to find his footing at that level. There is no indication as to the severity of the injury, and he has yet to be placed on the injured list, but obliques typically result in missed time. It is looking like 2026 is when we'll see him in the majors, and redraft managers will have to get familiar with him as he has an all-around skillset that will make him fantasy relevant, whether that's at the beginning of the season or later.

Travis Bazzana Logs Two-Homer Game on Saturday at Triple-A

Cleveland Guardians second base prospect Travis Bazzana belted two home runs in a 3-for-5 day at the plate on Saturday for Triple-A Columbus. It was his second three-hit game in his last three games, during which time he's tallied three home runs, five RBI, seven runs scored, and a 2:2 BB:K. The 2024 first-overall draft pick is hitting just .244 through 22 games at Triple-A, but an elite 23.1 percent walk rate has helped him to a .427 OBP, and he's also registered a .449 SLG (.876 OPS). There's still time for a late-season call-up to the big leagues, but that may be too late for fantasy purposes. Look for the 23-year-old to be in the majors next year, and with good all-around hit, power, and speed tools, it will be interesting to see how high he'll go in drafts for season-long leagues.

Travis Bazzana Set to Join Triple-A

The Cleveland Guardians are promoting former first overall pick second baseman Travis Bazzana to Triple-A Columbus. Bazzana was the top pick in last year's MLB Draft out of Oregon State and is now just one stop away from the major leagues. After earning a brief taste of High-A following the draft last summer, Cleveland opted for Bazzana to open the 2025 campaign at Double-A. However, the 22-year-old missed time with injuries which halted his development. Since returning from the injured list, Bazzana has looked quite impressive at Double-A, which has resulted in his promotion. Through his last 18 games, he has held a .265/.367/.412 line with a .799 OPS. In 51 total games with Akron, Bazzana has carried a .256/.364/.426 line. He is worth monitoring as the Guardians could give him a brief taste of the majors before the end of the season.

Travis Bazzana Homers in Three-Hit Game

Cleveland Guardians second base prospect Travis Bazzana went 3-for-5 on Saturday for Double-A Akron, including a double and a game-tying three-run home run in the ninth inning of the contest versus Erie. The Guardians' top prospect (MLB No. 13) finished up a rehab assignment in mid-July after suffering an oblique injury that kept him out for two months, and is 15-for-44 (.341) in the 11 games since rejoining the RubberDucks, with five doubles, a home run, and a 6:8 BB:K over that stretch. For the season, the 22-year-old is slashing .275/.377/.456 with five home runs and eight steals in 44 games. There's a chance he could see some at-bats at Triple-A to finish out the year, but a major league debut will likely have to happen in 2026 after so much time missed this year. A former first-overall draft pick with good hit, power, and run tools should make him one of the early stash candidates next season if he doesn't end up making the big league roster out of camp.

Travis Bazzana Extends On-Base Streak to 15 Games

Cleveland Guardians second base prospect Travis Bazzana has continued his impressive run at Double-A with another strong showing on Wednesday evening. Facing Double-A Harrisburg, the former first overall pick went 1-for-4 with a walk. This extended his current on-base streak at the Double-A level to 15 games. During this stretch, the Oregon State product has posted a remarkable .345/.446/.582 slash line with seven doubles, two home runs, five stolen bases, and a 15:9 K:BB. Over his last four games, since returning from the injured list, Bazzana has been swinging an awfully hot bat, posting a .438/.500/.625 line with three doubles. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his production as he could be in the mix to join Triple-A later this season. Even though injuries have limited him in his first full professional campaign, he should continue to be viewed as a high-end dynasty asset.

Travis Bazzana Smacks Three Doubles on Tuesday

Cleveland Guardians second base prospect Travis Bazzana went 3-for-3 for Double-A Akron on Tuesday, doubling three times and drawing a walk in the contest. The Guardians' top-ranked prospect drove in one run and scored twice as well. He's now 6-for-12 (.500) in the three games since coming off the injured list. The 22-year-old missed almost two months with a right oblique strain, but clearly looks fully recovered after this most recent performance. For the season, the first overall pick from the 2024 MLB Draft is hitting .253 with five home runs and a strong .375 OBP thanks to a high 14.7 percent walk rate in 42 games played, chipping in nine steals along the way. Look for him to make a push for the majors in 2026.

Travis Bazzana Officially Activated From Injured List

Cleveland Guardians second base prospect Travis Bazzana (oblique) was officially activated from the seven-day injured list at Double-A Akron on Friday to begin the second half of the season. Bazzana will return to action in the minors for the first time since mid-May due to a right-oblique strain. The 22-year-old is the club's top prospect, per MLB Pipeline, after being taken first overall in 2024 out of Oregon State. The Australian infielder has only hit .252/.362/.433 with four home runs, 17 RBI, 29 runs scored and eight stolen bases in 33 games at Akron in his first full season as a professional. Given the fact that Bazzana has been injured this year and hasn't exactly lived up to his draft stock yet in the lower levels of the minors, it seems more likely than not that he won't be in line to make his major-league debut until next year.

Travis Bazzana Expected to Rejoin Double-A on Friday

Cleveland Guardians second base prospect Travis Bazzana (oblique) is scheduled to be activated off the minor-league injured list to rejoin Double-A Akron when the team resumes play in the second half of the season on Friday at Double-A Altoona, according to Guardians Prospective. Bazzana, the team's top prospect per MLB Pipeline, has been on the minor-league IL since the middle of May with a strained right oblique, but the 22-year-old started a rehab assignment on July 5 and has gone 4-for-18 with two RBI, seven runs and a steal. The left-handed-hitting Australian from Oregon State was hitting .252 (32-for-127) with four home run, 17 RBI, 29 runs scored and eight stolen bases in 33 contests with Akron before his oblique injury. Bazzana should be stashed in most dynasty/keeper leagues, but there's a good chance he won't make his MLB debut until 2026.

Travis Bazzana Knocks Double in Rehab Game

Cleveland Guardians second base prospect Travis Bazzana (oblique) went 1-for-3 with two runs, two walks, and two strikeouts during his rehab game on Tuesday in the Arizona Complex League. In the opening frame, he hit a leadoff double against left-hander Blake Snell, who was also on a rehab assignment. Bazzana reported to Cleveland's ACL affiliate on July 5 for his assignment and held a .222/.462/.333 slash line with two doubles, two RBI, and an 8:4 K:BB. The Guardians are gradually increasing Bazzana's workload. As a result, fantasy managers should not expect him to return to Double-A for at least another week. Before his injury, last year's first overall pick held a .252/.362/.433 line with five doubles and four home runs through his first 33 games with Double-A. Bazzana remains a top dynasty asset at the keystone despite his injury-riddled campaign.

Travis Bazzana Continues Rehab with Complex League Affiliate

Cleveland Guardians second base prospect Travis Bazzana (oblique) has continued his rehab assignment with the team's Arizona Complex League affiliate and is now 3-for-11 (.273) with one double, a steal, and a 6:2 BB:K through five games. Before going down with the injury, the No. 1 overall pick from last year's draft was slashing .252/.362/.433 with four home runs, eight steals, and a 19:39 BB:K through 33 games (149 plate appearances) at Double-A Akron. At this point in the season, unless he catches fire, the Oregon State product will likely finish out the year at Double-A. But look for him to see Triple-A and make a push for the majors in 2026. With an exceptional hit tool, above-average power and the ability to run, the Guardians' top prospect should be stashed away in dynasty formats.
