Patrick Bailey Hits Walk-Off Inside-The-Park Homer

San Francisco Giants catcher Patrick Bailey produced one of baseball's more unusual plays in Tuesday's 4-3 win over the Phillies. Bailey went 2-for-4 with a single, a walk-off inside-the-park three-run home run, and a strikeout. The 26-year-old faced Jordan Romano in the bottom of the ninth inning down by two with one out and runners on the corners. He drove a fastball off the top of the right-field brick wall, and it ricocheted all the way into left-center field, allowing Bailey to race around the bases to end the game. The 26-year-old has been a strong presence behind the plate for the Giants' pitching staff, but he hasn't provided much offensively. He is now slashing .194/.260/.294 with two HR and 26 RBI in 238 plate appearances.

Patrick Bailey Reinstated and Starting on Wednesday

The San Francisco Giants reinstated catcher Patrick Bailey (neck) from the 10-day injured list on Wednesday and optioned catcher Logan Porter to Triple-A Sacramento in a corresponding move, according to the San Francisco Chronicle's Shayna Rubin. Bailey is right back in San Fran's starting lineup on Wednesday night against the visiting Cleveland Guardians and left-hander Logan Allen, doing the catching for right-hander Justin Verlander (pectoral), who is also returning from the IL, and batting in the nine-hole. The 26-year-old switch-hitting backstop is hitless in just one career at-bat against Allen. Bailey has really struggled offensively in his third year in the big leagues with the Gigantes in 2025, going 30-for-162 (.185) with just one homer, 16 RBI and 57 strikeouts in 56 games played. Fantasy managers should continue staying away until he shows signs of breaking out of his funk.

Patrick Bailey Hoping to Return When he's Eligible

San Francisco Giants catcher Patrick Bailey (neck) was placed on the 10-day injured list on Wednesday with a neck strain, but he's hoping to return as soon as he's eligible on June 19, according to MLB.com's Maria Guardado. It's bad timing, as Bailey was finally starting to drive the baseball after hitting just .185 with a .518 OPS and a home run in his first 56 games of the season. Sam Huff is at Triple-A Sacramento, but he's been dealing with a back issue. Until Bailey returns, the Giants will roll with Andrew Knizner as their starting catcher, with Logan Porter backing him up. Porter is in the big leagues for the first time since 2023, when he hit just .194 with a .647 OPS in 11 games with the Kansas City Royals. He was hitting .237 with a .669 OPS and two home runs in 40 games for Triple-A Sacramento. Porter is making the start in Thursday's series finale against the Rockies with Knizner getting a breather.

Patrick Bailey Placed on 10-Day Injured List

San Francisco Giants catcher Patrick Bailey (neck) was placed on the 10-day injured list on Wednesday. Bailey was scratched from the lineup ahead of Tuesday's contest with neck spasms. He has now been diagnosed with a neck strain and will miss at least a week of action. Andrew Knizner will do the catching on Wednesday and figures to see a majority of the time behind the plate while Bailey is out. In a corresponding move, Logan Porter has been recalled from Triple-A and will serve as the backup catcher. Bailey hasn't done enough at the plate to warrant holding through the injury.

Patrick Bailey Sitting Out In Series Finale

San Francisco Giants catcher Patrick Bailey is taking the day off in Thursday's series finale against the division-rival Arizona Diamondbacks with left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez on the mound. Sam Huff will do the catching for right-hander Jordan Hicks and will bat seventh in the batting order. Bailey has had a rough go in the 2025 season to this point and is still searching for his first home run. The 25-year-old switch-hitting backstop has gone 20-for-112 (.179) with 12 RBI, 11 runs scored and a 40:7 K:BB in 38 games. He's gone 7-for-35 (.200) with two doubles, three RBI and 11 strikeouts in the last two weeks over 11 games. DFS managers should have better sleeper options than Huff at catcher. Huff has been just as bad as Bailey in 37 at-bats, hitting .189 with a homer and three RBI. The 27-year-old has never faced E-Rod in his career.

Patrick Bailey Getting A Breather Against Cubs

San Francisco Giants catcher Patrick Bailey is taking the day off for Wednesday's series finale at Wrigley Field against the hosting Chicago Cubs. Sam Huff is catching left-hander Robbie Ray and will hit eighth for the Gigantes against Cubs right-hander Ben Brown. It's a good time for San Fran to rest Bailey after he went 2-for-4 with three RBI in the team's 11-inning win over Chicago on Tuesday night. The 25-year-old switch-hitting backstop is still hitting under .200 on the season, though, with 19 hits in his 98 at-bats. Bailey has yet to homer, has drove in 12 runs and has scored 10 runs as the team's starting catcher. The good news is he's currently on a four-game hitting streak, going 6-for-14 with two doubles, three RBI and three runs scored. DFS gamers should be able to find better catcher sleepers on Wednesday than Huff. He's hitting .233 (7-for-30) with a homer and has never faced Brown in his career.

Patrick Bailey Resting On Friday

San Francisco Giants catcher Patrick Bailey (rest) is out of the starting lineup ahead of Friday's game against the Colorado Rockies. Bailey is off to a terrible start to the season as he's slashing .155/.209/.226 with zero home runs and nine RBI this season. He is 1-for-14 at the plate over his last four games, so a day off looks like it's needed. Sam Huff will do the catching and bat eighth versus right-hander Antonio Senzatela on Friday. Neither player is really bringing enough to the plate right now to warrant rostering in fantasy formats.

Patrick Bailey Getting Breather In Series Finale

San Francisco Giants catcher Patrick Bailey will start Thursday's series finale against the visiting Milwaukee Brewers at Oracle Park on the bench while Sam Huff does the catching for right-hander Landen Roupp and hits eighth against Brewers right-hander Tobias Myers, who is coming off the injured list to make his 2025 season debut. Bailey, 25, has gotten off to a rough start to the season at the plate, batting just .167 (11-for-66) with no home runs, eight RBI, seven runs scored, five walks and 26 strikeouts in 72 plate appearances over 22 games. He has just two multi-hit games and five extra-base hits as San Fran's primary catcher. Huff has been slightly better with five hits in 22 at-bats, including a home run, but fantasy managers in DFS should be able to find better low-cost options at catcher for Thursday's slate.

Patrick Bailey Out Against Yankees

San Francisco Giants catcher Patrick Bailey is taking the day off on Saturday at Yankee Stadium against the New York Yankees. Sam Huff will make the start behind the dish to catch right-hander Jordan Hicks and will hit eighth in the batting order versus Yankees right-hander Will Warren. Bailey went 1-for-3 with an RBI in Friday's series opener in the Bronx, but he's hitting just .206 (7-for-34) early in the season with no home runs, four doubles, a triple, four RBI, five runs scored, three walks and 10 strikeouts in 37 trips to the plate over his 13 games played. Bailey should be back in action for the series finale on Sunday at Yankee Stadium. Huff should be considered a long shot to return any DFS value for Saturday's slate. The 27-year-old catcher has gotten off to a 2-for-13 start at the plate for the Giants with no home runs and five strikeouts.

Patrick Bailey Takes A Seat On Saturday

San Francisco Giants catcher Patrick Bailey (rest) is out of the starting lineup ahead of Saturday's game against the Seattle Mariners. Bailey has earned himself a day off after going 3-for-5 with two doubles in the extra inning win on Friday. However, that three-hit performance was the first time that Bailey had recorded a hit since Opening Day. Sam Huff will do the catching and bat eighth against right-hander Bryce Miller on Saturday.
