Carlos Correa Progressing

Minnesota Twins president of baseball operations Derek Falvey said the plantar fasciitis in shortstop Carlos Correa's right foot is progressing ahead of where he was with his left foot a year ago. If Correa is able to stay healthy, the Twins plan to keep him as their starter at the 6 and not move him to third base. "He's still young," Falvey said. "He's a tremendous shortstop. I see no reason why he wouldn't be as long he manages the plantar issues in a positive direction. He's tracking in a positive direction. He's got good plans for how he's going to handle it therapeutically and I think he's in a good place." The 30-year-old ended up missing most of the second half of the season due to ongoing foot issues but still finished with a .310/.388/.517 slash line with a .905 OPS, 14 home runs and 54 RBI in 86 games played. At a premium position, Correa's foot issues make him an extremely risky fantasy SS heading into 2025.

Carlos Correa Returning On Saturday

The Minnesota Twins will activate shortstop Carlos Correa (foot) from the injured list on Saturday and will option outfielder DaShawn Keirsey Jr. to Triple-A St. Paul in a corresponding move. Correa should be back in the starting lineup on Saturday at Target Field against the Cincinnati Reds and right-hander Nick Martinez, but fantasy managers will want to check back later for further confirmation. The 29-year-old has been away from the Twins since the All-Star break due to plantar fasciitis, so there certainly could be a bit of a rust factor now that he's back. The Puerto Rican infielder was hitting a strong .308/.377/.520 with an .896 OPS, 13 home runs, 47 RBI and 51 runs scored in 279 at-bats before his injury, so fantasy managers are hoping he can somehow pick up where he left off. Don't be surprised if the Twins look to ease Correa back in at shortstop after all the time he has missed.

Carlos Correa "Very Encouraged" With How He's Feeling

Minnesota Twins shortstop Carlos Correa (foot) is "very encouraged" after sprinting three of the last four days. Correa started a new treatment five days ago. He's not getting ahead of himself right now, but it's also the best he's felt in a long time as he tries to recover from plantar fasciitis in his right foot. It's good news for the 29-year-old, but there is very little time left for him to do anything for fantasy managers still in the mix for a title. Given all the time that Correa has missed (he's been out since July), it's likely he'll need some kind of a rehab assignment, although the minor-league will also be over soon. Until Correa is able to return, infield prospect Brooks Lee should continue to see regular playing time at the 6 in Minnesota. Foot issues have become a problem for Correa, but he was also hitting an impressive .308/.377/.520 with an .896 OPS, 13 homers and 47 RBI this year before his injury.

Still No Timeline For Carlos Correa's Return

There remains no timeline for Minnesota Twins shortstop Carlos Correa's (heel) return from the plantar fasciitis in his right heel, head athletic trainer Nick Paparesta said on Tuesday. Correa ran again on Tuesday, still experiencing discomfort, as the Twins are still managing their shortstop's situation of pain management. Although he reported feeling better than he did the last time he ran, Correa still isn't running the bases. The 29-year-old star infielder has been on the 10-day injured list since July 20, and there's simply no telling how much longer this issue might linger for. Until Correa is back with Minnesota, super utility man Willi Castro should remain rostered in all fantasy leagues.

Carlos Correa Ramping Up But Still Not Sprinting

Minnesota Twins manager Rocco Baldelli noted on Wednesday that shortstop Carlos Correa (heel) is ramping up his running, but he is not sprinting yet. "When he's able to sprint and run the way that he needs to, he's going to go on a rehab assignment and go get some at-bats," Baldelli said. "Then he'll be on his way back at that point." Correa jogged on the field for the first time on Saturday since going on the injured list on July 20 due to right plantar fasciitis, and there is still optimism that the 29-year-old star infielder will be able to return to the Twins sometime in mid-August. Until Correa is back, switch-hitting utility man Willi Castro should be rostered in all fantasy leagues. Castro is slashing .257/.344/.403 with eight home runs, 25 doubles, 64 runs scored, and 10 stolen bases in 404 at-bats this year.

Twins Hope Carlos Correa Will Start Jogging Thursday

Minnesota Twins shortstop Carlos Correa (heel) has progressed to hitting overhand batting practice as of Wednesday. The hope is that he will progress to jogging by Thursday, assuming there is improvement in the soreness in the heel. Correa was placed on the 10-day injured on July 20 as the Twins began the second half of the season, receiving a platelet-rich plasma injection in his right heel. He's experiencing plantar fasciitis in the opposite foot from the lingering issue that plagued him throughout the 2023 season, but that doesn't change the fact that Minnesota is likely to proceed with caution with their 29-year-old star shortstop. Before hitting the shelf, Correa was slashing a robust .308/.377/.520 with 13 home runs, 16 doubles, 47 RBI and 51 runs scored in 279 at-bats (75 games) and needs to be stashed in all fantasy leagues while utility man Willi Castro holds down the fort at short.

Carlos Correa In A Walking Boot

Minnesota Twins shortstop Carlos Correa (foot) was in the team's clubhouse on Monday before the series opener against the visiting Philadelphia Phillies in a walking boot. Correa said the boot will stay on for a few more days and he's unsure if he'll resume baseball activities immediately after that. He's hoping he's not out longer than another week or two. The 29-year-old All-Star shortstop isn't going to be ready to return to the Twins in the minimum 10 days after he was put on the injured list on Saturday with right plantar fasciitis. The Puerto Rican infielder needs to be stashed in all fantasy formats while hitting .308/.377/.520 on the year with an .896 OPS, 13 homers and 47 RBI, but this injury is worrisome for him the rest of the way. Willi Castro is expected to see most of the playing time at short in Minnesota with Correa sidelined.

Carlos Correa Lands On Injured List

Minnesota Twins shortstop Carlos Correa (foot) was placed on the 10-day injured on Saturday, July 20, with right-foot plantar fasciitis. In a corresponding move, the Twins recalled second baseman Edouard Julien from Triple-A St. Paul. Correa was absent from the starting nine over the final two games before the mid-summer classic and will now sit out for at least the next 10 games. The 29-year-old has been enjoying a nice bounce back season, posting an excellent .308/.377/.520 line with 13 long balls and 47 RBI. Julien could see stable playing time while Correa is sidelined but has struggled in the big leagues this season with a disappointing .211 AVG. In the minor leagues, the 25-year-old has held a mere .233 AVG. Julien could be worth a speculative add in deeper leagues if he can produce during this stint.

Carlos Correa Won't Play In All-Star Game

Minnesota Twins shortstop Carlos Correa (foot) will not play in this year's All-Star game on Tuesday after he was held out of Saturday's game against the San Francisco Giants on Sunday after undergoing an MRI exam, which revealed plantar fasciitis in his right foot. Correa is being replaced by two-time World Series MVP and Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager on the American League roster. Correa is still expected to attend the All-Star festivities this week in Arlington, Texas. The 29-year-old missed the final two games of the first half of the season last weekend, although his recent bout of plantar fasciitis isn't expected to be as severe as when he dealt with it in his right foot for most of last season. It's unclear if Correa will be ready to go for the start of the second half this Saturday against the visiting Milwaukee Brewers, so fantasy managers will want to check back then to see if he's active.

Carlos Correa Diagnosed With Plantar Fasciitis

Minnesota Twins shortstop Carlos Correa (heel) has been diagnosed with plantar fasciitis, according to Dan Hayes of The Athletic. Correa was a late scratch from Saturday's lineup and underwent an MRI shortly after. The 29-year-old had a similar injury in his opposite foot last season. Hayes also reported that this case is said to be not as severe as last time. Correa spent time on the injured list for this injury last season and could do the same again. The former first-overall selection has enjoyed a nice bounce-back season in 2024 with a strong .308/.377/.520 line and 13 home runs. If Correa were to miss an extended period of time, Brooks Lee and Willi Castro are strong candidates to fill in at shortstop.
