Joey Loperfido Optioned To Triple-A

Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Joey Loperfido has been optioned to Triple-A Buffalo on Friday. Loperfido had a real shot at making the Opening Day roster, but really struggled with the bat in camp. He went 6-for-29 with two RBI, so he'll head to the minors to work on his game. The 25-year-old was traded to Toronto last season from Houston in part of the Yusei Kikuchi trade. Loperfido does have the potential to be an everyday player in the MLB, but might need a little more work in the minor leagues.

Joey Loperfido Cleared To Return

Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Joey Loperfido (neck/back) is in Friday's starting lineup for their split-squad game against the New York Yankees. Loperfido has been sidelined since Tuesday after colliding into the outfield wall. He did not have any concussion symptoms and was sidelined for the next few days. However, seeing him return to the lineup on Friday suggests this injury was not very serious. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status in case he faces a setback. Last season, Loperfido made his MLB debut and held a .214/.264/.350 line with four home runs and four stolen bases. He held a high 36.3 percent strikeout rate. However, in the minors, Loperfido flashed elite power as he launched 13 home runs with a .933 OPS across 39 games. Loperfido is expected to compete for the left field job during spring training.

Joey Loperfido Could Return On Friday

Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Joey Loperfido (neck/back) is expected to go through a full workout on Thursday and could return to the starting lineup on Friday. Loperfido avoided a serious injury on Tuesday when he collided into the center field wall. Loperfido did not have any concussion symptoms and is not expected to miss any significant period of time. If the 25-year-old progresses well during Thursday's workouts, he could be cleared to return to game action. Last season, Loperfido made his MLB debut and held a .214/.264/.350 line with four home runs and four stolen bases. However, at the Triple-A level, the Duke product flashed high power upside as he launched 13 home runs with a .568 SLG and a .933 OPS across 39 contests. Fantasy managers should expect Loperfido to open the season as Toronto's starting left fielder.

Joey Loperfido Does Not Have Concussion Symptoms

Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Joey Loperfido (head/neck) does not have concussion symptoms. Loperfido is instead dealing with upper back and neck discomfort. He is expected to undergo more testing on Wednesday. The 25-year-old sustained this injury during Tuesday's Cactus League contest when he crashed head-first into the outfield wall. However, it appears that Loperfido avoided any serious injuries. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status as he may not miss much time. The Duke product made his MLB debut last season and held a .214/.264/.350 line with four home runs and four stolen bases across 81 games. He held a high 36.3 percent strikeout rate. Loperfido flashed upside power at Triple-A as he went deep 13 times in just 39 games but has yet to show this in the major leagues. He will likely open the season as Toronto's starting left fielder.

Joey Loperfido Leaves Game After Crashing Into The Wall

Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Joey Loperfido (head, neck) left Tuesday's Grapefruit League game early against the St. Louis Cardinals with an apparent head/neck injury after crashing into the center-field wall awkwardly. Loperfido got up holding the back of his head/neck area and left the game after manager John Schneider and team trainers came out to check on him. We'll have an update on the 25-year-old's condition when the Blue Jays know more about his injury. Loperfido debuted in the big leagues in 2024 with the Houston Astros before being traded to Toronto. In 81 combined games, he hit .214/.264/.350 with a weak .614 OPS, four homers, 25 RBI and four stolen bases. Loperfido is competing for an outfield job this spring in Toronto. He'll need to cut down on his strikeouts to realize his 20-20 potential.

Joey Loperfido Getting A Day Off

Toronto Blue Jays rookie outfielder Joey Loperfido is not in the team's starting lineup for Friday's series opener at the Rogers Centre against the visiting Miami Marlins. With Loperfido starting on the bench, fellow outfield prospect Jonatan Clase is starting in center field and is batting eighth against Marlins right-hander Adam Oller. Loperfido, 25, has appeared at both center field and left field for Toronto and has mostly struggled offensively since being acquired from the Houston Astros at the trade deadline in the deal that sent lefty Yusei Kikuchi to Houston. Loperfido has gone 27-for-130 (.208) with two homers, eight RBI, two steals and 48 strikeouts in his 41 games in Toronto. Clase, who was also acquired via trade with the Mariners this year, will be playing in just his sixth game with the Jays. So far, he's gone 6-for-12 with a homer, double and two RBI in 14 plate appearances.

Joey Loperfido Returning On Wednesday

Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Joey Loperfido (hip) is back in the starting lineup ahead of Wednesday's game against the Texas Rangers. The 25-year-old has been out of the lineup since suffering a groin injury during Saturday's contest. It appears the rookie outfielder is ready to go and will cover center field and bat eighth versus left-hander Cody Bradford on Wednesday. Loperfido doesn't face left-handed pitching very often, but does have decent results in a small sample size. He's not a great DFS option for Wednesday, but fantasy managers in season-long formats can get him back in their lineups.

Joey Loperfido Exits Saturday Early

Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Joey Loperfido (hip) left Saturday's game early due to left adductor discomfort, according to Mike Wallner of the Toronto Star. The 25-year-old was lifted in the fifth inning after grabbing his hip in pain. He was replaced by infielder Luis De Los Santos after Addison Barger shifted to cover left field. Fantasy managers should pay close attention to Sunday's starting nine, as the Duke product may need an extra day off. Since the start of the month, Loperfido has carried a .250/.276/.357 line with three doubles and three RBI. If Loperfido happens to miss an extended period of time, Davis Schneider will likely see an uptick in playing time in the outfield.

Joey Loperfido Back In The Lineup

Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Joey Loperfido is back in the starting lineup ahead of Tuesday's game against the New York Mets. The rookie slugger sat out on Monday, which appears to have been a routine rest game. He'll return to the lineup on Tuesday, but he'll face left-hander David Peterson. Loperfido has limited playing time against left-handed pitching this season. He's hitting 6-for-33 with one home run against the southpaw during his time in the majors. Loperfido won't be an ideal DFS option for Tuesday, but fantasy managers in season long formats can get him back in their lineups.

Joey Loperfido, Addison Barger Both Sitting On Wednesday

Toronto Blue Jays rookie outfielders Joey Loperfido and Addison Barger (knee) are both out of the starting lineup for Wednesday's series finale at Rogers Centre against the Philadelphia Phillies. Davis Schneider is in left field and batting eighth, and catcher Alejandro Kirk is serving as the designated hitter and is batting cleanup against Phillies left-hander Cristopher Sanchez. Loperfido hasn't been afforded regular playing time since joining the team at the trade deadline and has hit just .198 (18-for-91) with two homers and six RBI in his 27 games with Toronto. Barger homered on Tuesday but also left the contest early with a left- knee injury, so he should be considered day-to-day. With the Blue Jays having Thursday off, the hope is that the 24-year-old Barger can return for the series opener on Friday in Atlanta against the Braves.
