Carlos Lagrange has Sprained Shoulder, Won't Throw for Six Weeks

The New York Yankees are saying that right-handed pitching prospect Carlos Lagrange (shoulder) has been diagnosed with a capsular sprain of his right shoulder, and he'll be shut down from throwing for six weeks, according to Chris Kirschner of The Athletic. It's a real bummer for the Yankees and fantasy managers in dynasty/keeper leagues who have been stashing the hard-throwing 6-foot-7, 248-pounder, as he was seemingly on the verge of joining the Yankees' major-league roster to bolster their bullpen in July. He was placed on the seven-day injured list at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, and with an extended absence coming, it's now fair to wonder if he'll get called up to the majors at all in 2027. The team's No. 4 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, was recently moved from a starting role to a relief one. Lagrange has gone 1-4 with the RailRiders with a 4.55 ERA, 1.36 WHIP, and 83:33 K:BB in 63 1/3 innings across 18 outings (11 starts). Fantasy managers in mixed redraft formats can probably hold off on stashing Lagrange now due to his uncertain timetable. He's rostered in 5% of Yahoo leagues.

Carlos Lagrange Lands on Minor-League Injured List With Shoulder Injury

New York Yankees right-handed pitching prospect Carlos Lagrange (shoulder) has landed on the seven-day injured list at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre with a shoulder injury, according to Chris Kirschner of The Athletic. The Yankees will know more about the extent of Lagrange's shoulder injury once he undergoes an MRI exam. It's a setback for a pitching prospect who was expected to join the Yankees' major-league bullpen soon. The team's No. 4 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, last pitched for the RailRiders on June 28, when he allowed five earned runs on four hits while walking two in two-thirds of an inning. The 23-year-old flamethrower started his transition from starting pitcher to reliever in early June, with the Yankees hoping he'd join the major-league roster at some point in July. Lagrange's fastballs have been clocked at 103 mph, and he first turned heads when he struck out Aaron Judge with a 102.6 mph fastball in spring training. The 6-foot-7, 248-pounder should still make his MLB debut in 2027, but it's a bit more unclear when that might be now. Lagrange is currently rostered in 5% of Yahoo leagues and figures to be a high-leverage reliever in the majors sooner rather than later.

Is Carlos Lagrange Ready for a Call to New York?

New York Yankees pitching prospect Carlos Lagrange did not allow a run in his latest appearance at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. The hard-throwing right-hander did not allow a hit either and walked one while striking out two of the three batters he faced. It was a nice bounce-back from his previous appearance. Though none were considered earned runs in that outing, the Yankees' fourth-ranked prospect allowed four runs to cross the plate, in which he allowed two hits and two walks while not striking out a batter in an appearance for the first time all season. Since his move to the bullpen, the 6-foot-7 Dominican has produced a 2.19 ERA (4.61 FIP) with a 1.14 WHIP, and a 22.0 percent K-BB% over 12 1/3 innings pitched. The 23-year-old could be called upon to fortify New York's bullpen by midseason, but likely would not be in line for save opportunities. As such, the strikeout artist really only has value in leagues that reward holds, but in such leagues, he's a worthy stash option for his ability to rack up the punchouts.

Carlos Lagrange Sharp in Move to Bullpen, On Verge of MLB Promotion?

New York Yankees right-handed pitching prospect Carlos Lagrange has been quite productive in his transition to the bullpen and is quickly approaching his MLB debut much sooner than anticipated. The hard-throwing right-hander began the 2026 season in the team's Triple-A starting rotation, but endured some growing pains facing the top hitters in the minor leagues. Over 49 innings of work, Lagrange posted a 4.41 ERA with a modest 1.33 WHIP. However, since moving to a relief role, the No. 73-ranked prospect on MLB.com has looked quite comfortable, logging 9 2/3 innings (three outings) to the tune of a 2.79 ERA, 0.93 WHIP, with a 15:3 K:BB. While he will likely not compete for save opportunities in the Bronx, he could emerge as a go-to high-leverage option and hold high-end upside in holds leagues. For now, Lagrange is a worthy stash target in deeper 12+ team leauges that reward holds as he could debut ahead of the All-Star break.

Is Carlos Lagrange Still Worth Stashing After Move to Bullpen?

New York Yankees pitching prospect Carlos Lagrange was effective in his latest start out of the bullpen for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, allowing one earned run on three hits and a walk while striking out three batters in 2 2/3 innings pitched. The hard-throwing Dominican recently transitioned to a reliever, with the expectation that the big league club could leverage him in that same role. As a starter, the Yankees' fourth-ranked prospect held a 4.41 ERA, 1.33 WHIP, and a 17.5 percent K-BB% in 49 IP, but through two relief appearances, he's posted a 1.35 ERA, 1.05 WHIP, and a 25.9 percent K-BB%, so the move appears to be working out for now. The right-hander's strikeout potential is what makes him intriguing for fantasy, but a move to middle relief has dealt a blow to his worthiness as a stash candidate. Only those managers in very deep leagues desperate for strikeouts should consider stashing him, especially since it may come at the cost of WHIP due to his control issues.

Carlos Lagrange Dominant in Move to Bullpen, Will he Compete for Early Promotion?

New York Yankees pitching prospect Carlos Lagrange was recently moved to the bullpen at Triple-A to have a much clearer path to reach the Bronx in the near future. This past week, Lagrange made his first appearance out of the Triple-A bullpen and did not disappoint. Facing Syracuse, the hard-throwing right-hander tossed four one-hit innings with seven punchouts and two walks. He opened the season at Triple-A but was deployed as a starter and did not enjoy much sustained success. Pitching out of the starting rotation, the 23-year-old held a 4.41 ERA and a 1.33 WHIP but continued to flash elite strikeout potential, totaling 63 over 49 innings of work. While Lagrange's fantasy upside will be limited in a setup or long relief role on the MLB roster, his elite strikeout potential makes him worth a look as a stash candidate, especially in deeper 12+ team formats.

Carlos Lagrange Shifting to Bullpen, Being Fast-Tracked for MLB Debut?

New York Yankees right-handed pitching prospect Carlos Lagrange is being shifted to the bullpen at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, according to YES Network's Jack Curry. The Yankees always believed that Lagrange could boost their bullpen in the big leagues this year, so it's a major step in that direction. The 23-year-old, who is considered the team's No. 4 prospect by MLB Pipeline, can touch 103 mph with his fastball and could be a real asset for the Yankees' bullpen at some point in 2026. In his fifth season in the minors this year, Lagrange has gone 0-3 with a 4.41 ERA and 1.33 WHIP with 63 strikeouts and 25 walks in 49 innings pitched across 11 starts. Manager Aaron Boone said that it will be at least several weeks before Lagrange is considered for his first major-league call-up. While his strikeout upside is intriguing for fantasy managers in deeper leagues, he might not be very valuable in single-year formats in 2026 if he's only pitching out of the bullpen in the Bronx. Long-term, it's a bit unclear what the Yankees' plan is for Lagrange regarding his role as a starter or reliever.

Carlos Lagrange a High-Strikeout Pitcher to Stash?

New York Yankees starting pitching prospect Carlos Lagrange has emerged as a top fantasy stash heading into June. Lagrange has an iffy 4.41 ERA, but we're very impressed by his 11.57 K/9. He has maintained strikeout rates north of 10+ K/9 for all of his minor league career, and he should keep up that pace once he reaches the majors. With that being said, he'll need to lower his walk (4.59 BB/9) and home run (1.47 HR/9) rates going forward, as these are likely some of the main reasons why his ERA is on the higher side. The right-hander is an impressive prospect in terms of makeup. He checks in at 6-foot-7 and throws a 99 mph fastball, touching triple-digits at times. He has five distinct pitches, and all of them are average or above-average offerings. In addition to the four-seamer, he throws a sweeper, slider, changeup, and sinker. The changeup complements the heater nicely, inducing a .188 xwOBA and 37% whiff rate. Managers should consider stashing Lagrange now, because it'll be too late once he starts racking up strikeouts in the majors.

Carlos Lagrange Firmly Off the Stash Radar After Rough Showing?

New York Yankees right-handed pitching prospect Carlos Lagrange remains in the mix to compete for a late-season MLB debut but has begun to see his short-term stock take a hit. In his most recent outing of the young season on May 22, Lagrange allowed five runs to Lehigh Valley in just five innings of work. This was the second time this season Lagrange allowed at least five runs in a single contest. Overall, the hard-throwing right-hander has posted a high 4.78 ERA with a 1.41 WHIP across 43 1/3 innings of work at Triple-A. While his ratios remain high, he has shown solid strikeout potential, totaling 57, which has kept his fantasy intrigue relevant. However, with Gerrit Cole and Carlos Rodon both back in action, Lagrange may only be in the mix for a late-season promotion as a reliever, which makes him a low-end stash target in the deepest of redraft leagues for the foreseeable future.

Can Carlos Lagrange Make his MLB Debut in 2026?

New York Yankees right-handed pitching prospect Carlos Lagrange has continued to improve in the minor leagues and is seeing his stash value continue to climb each week. Even though Carlos Rodon is back in action and Gerrit Cole is set to return later this week, fantasy managers should monitor Lagrange at Triple-A, as he could be called up during the second half. Lagrange is currently viewed as the team's No. 4-ranked prospect on MLB.com and the overall No. 76 prospect in the game. Last summer, the flamethrower split his time at High-A and Double-A, which earned him the ticket to Triple-A to open the 2026 campaign. During his first taste of Triple-A, Lagrange has continued to flash impressive strikeout upside, totaling 52 over 38 1/3 innings. However, he has endured some growing pains, holding a 4.23 ERA and a 1.33 WHIP. While he needs to improve his command to be in serious contention for a promotion, another injury to the Yankee pitching staff could pave the way for an early debut. For now, he remains a sneaky stash target for those in deeper leagues with multiple N/A spots.
