Carlos Lagrange Sharp in Triple-A Debut, Emerging as Sneaky Stash Candidate

New York Yankees pitching prospect Carlos Lagrange made his season debut at Triple-A on Sunday, allowing one earned run on four hits and no walks while striking out three in four innings of work. The Yankees' top pitching prospect began 2025 at High-A and moved up to Double-A after just eight starts, where his ERA improved, but his walk rate jumped. All in all, the right-hander posted a 3.53 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, and a 21.1 percent K-BB% in 24 appearances (23 starts). His 168 strikeouts were the third-most in all the minors, collecting them all in just 120 innings pitched. The 22-year-old even got a taste of big league camp this spring, striking out 17 batters in 16 1/3 IP, and could be in line for an early-season call-up if he continues to perform. The 6-foot-7 hurler has a fastball that can touch 103 mph and sits in the high 90s, and if he's going to be in the majors sooner rather than later, fantasy managers in redraft leagues may want to consider stashing the flamethrower for his strikeout upside.

Carlos Lagrange to Debut at Triple-A on Sunday

The New York Daily News' Gary Phillips reports that New York Yankees pitching prospect Carlos Lagrange is scheduled to make his debut at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Sunday for the RailRiders. Lagrange, who is considered the team's No. 2 prospect by MLB Pipeline, was named the Yankees' most outstanding rookie during spring training. The 22-year-old right-hander struck out 17 batters while walking six in 16 1/3 innings pitched in five Grapefruit League appearances (two starts). The hard-throwing Dominican is one of the better pitching stashes in dynasty/keeper leagues. The 6-foot-7, 248-pounder had a 3.53 ERA and 1.20 WHIP with 168 strikeouts and 62 walks in 120 innings over 24 outings (23 starts) with High-A Hudson Valley and Double-A Somerset in 2025. Lagrange had an impressive 31% strikeout rate but also a concerning 14.9% walk rate. If Lagrange cannot improve his control, he could be ticketed for a high-leverage bullpen role in the Bronx by the 2027 season.

Carlos Lagrange Reassigned to Minor-League Camp

The New York Yankees reassigned right-handed pitching prospect Carlos Lagrange to minor-league camp on Thursday, manager Aaron Boone told Bryan Hoch of MLB.com. Lagrange made it a difficult decision for the Yankees after he turned heads in Grapefruit League play, allowing an earned run with three walks and nine strikeouts in 9 2/3 innings of work in his three spring training appearances with the big-league squad. Per MLB Pipeline, he's the team's No. 2 prospect going into this year, behind only George Lombard Jr. Lagrange is a mountain of a man at 6-foot-7 and 248 pounds, and as you might expect, he has a fastball that gets into the low-100s on the radar gun. In addition to his elite heater, Lagrange features three swing-and-miss secondary pitches. The Dominican hurler has the upside to be a high-end starter in the big leagues, but a little more polish in the minors with his mechanics might be needed. We fully expect Lagrange to be in play for starts in the Bronx in 2026.

Carlos Lagrange Dominant in Spring Training, Making Case for Early MLB Debut?

New York Yankees right-handed pitching prospect Carlos Lagrange has been one of the most dominant pitchers in all of spring training and has made a strong case to earn a spot on the MLB roster. Through 9 2/3 innings, Lagrange has posted a near-perfect 0.93 ERA with a 0.72 WHIP. During this stint, Lagrange has totaled nine punchouts while serving up only three free passes. Given that the Yankees will be without Carlos Rodon (elbow) and Gerrit Cole (elbow) to begin the season, Lagrange could either find a role at the back of the rotation or in a long relief role in the bullpen. In 2025, the No. 79-ranked prospect on MLB.com began his season at Double-A, but would finish at Triple-A, where he logged 31 2/3 innings with a 3.22 ERA and 104 punchouts. He is a name to closely monitor over the final weeks of spring training, as he could have sneaky early-season upside.

Carlos Lagrange Impressing in Spring Training

New York Yankees right-handed pitching prospect Carlos Lagrange has looked very comfortable through the early part of spring training and could be in serious contention to begin the season on the MLB roster. The team's No. 2-ranked prospect on MLB.com has appeared in two games so far (one start) and logged 5 2/3 innings with one earned run (two total runs) and a stellar 1.06 WHIP. He has struck out six batters and allowed just two free passes. Last summer, Lagrange spent most of his time at Double-A Somerset, where he logged 78 1/3 innings with a strong 3.22 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, and a 104:50 K:BB. While he possesses immense strikeout upside, his weaker command has limited his production. If Lagrange continues this early success in camp, he could earn a spot on the Opening Day roster with both Carlos Rodon (elbow) and Gerrit Cole (elbow) set to miss the start of the season.

Carlos Lagrange Earns Ticket to MLB Spring Training

The New York Yankees have invited right-handed pitching prospect Carlos Lagrange to MLB spring training. Lagrange is currently viewed as the team's No. 2-ranked prospect on MLB.com and the No. 74 overall prospect in baseball. Lagrange began the 2025 campaign with High-A Hudson Valley, but would eventually spend the second half with Double-A Somerset. Through 41 2/3 innings at High-A, the right-hander would hold a modest 4.10 ERA with a 1.03 WHIP. He would rack up 64 punchouts during this stint. However, once he made the jump to Double-A, Lagrange looked far more productive. Across 78 1/3 innings, the right-hander struck out 104 hitters while carrying a 3.22 ERA and a 1.29 WHIP. While his strikeout upside remained high, Lagrange walked 50 batters. If Lagrange can improve his command, he should be in the mix to reach Triple-A early in 2026, opening the door for a midseason MLB promotion.

Carlos Lagrange an Emerging Arm in Yankees System

New York Yankees right-handed pitching prospect Carlos Lagrange is an emerging arm in their system and could debut in the majors in 2026. The 22-year-old spent the 2025 campaign with High-A and Double-A, logging 120 total innings. With High-A, the right-hander posted a 4.10 ERA with a 1.03 WHIP across 41 2/3 innings of work. During this stint, Lagrange struck out 64 batters while allowing just 12 free passes. During his first look at Double-A, Lagrange posted an impressive 3.22 ERA with a slightly higher 1.29 WHIP. He struck out 104 batters through 78 1/3 innings but served up a much higher 50 walks. While Lagrange won't be in a position to break camp with the MLB roster, he could begin the 2026 season with Triple-A, opening the door for a first-half MLB debut.

Carlos Lagrange Returns to Form on Sunday

New York Yankees right-handed pitching prospect Carlos Lagrange tossed five innings of one-run ball during their contest against Double-A Hartford on Sunday. In this outing, Lagrange struck out five hitters and allowed only one walk. This was a much-needed bounce-back outing for Lagrange as he held a 3.91 ERA with a high 1.57 WHIP over his last 23 innings of work. However, before this brief skid, Lagrange was flashing immense upside, striking out 41 hitters over his last 25 2/3 innings. During this stretch, Lagrange posted a 2.01 ERA and a 0.97 WHIP. Overall, across his first 63 2/3 innings at Double-A, Lagrange has had a 3.68 ERA and a 1.32 WHIP. The 22-year-old could be in the mix to earn a brief taste of Triple-A late in the regular season.

Carlos Lagrange Overpowering Double-A Hitters, Command Still Lagging

New York Yankees pitching prospect Carlos Lagrange is overwhelming Double-A hitters with elite velocity and strikeout stuff. The 6-foot-7 flamethrower has racked up 49 strikeouts in just 35 2/3 innings for Somerset, allowing only 20 hits and issuing 22 walks. While opponents can hardly touch him, his 3.79 ERA reflects inconsistent command, with a walk rate nearing 15%. If his control improves, Lagrange touches 102 mph and profiles as a high-octane starter or late-inning weapon. Already rising into top-100 prospect status, he's a high-risk, high-reward dynasty stash with electric upside. If he finds the zone, a Bronx call-up could come quickly.

Carlos Lagrange Displaying Strikeout Potential

New York Yankees pitching prospect Carlos Lagrange has tallied the second-most strikeouts in the minors over the first half of the season with 113. Tallying 77 1/3 innings pitched and 315 total batters faced, it works out to a 13.15 K/9 and 35.9 percent strikeout rate for the Yanks' 17th-ranked prospect. The 6-foot-7 hurler features a big fastball that sits in the high 90s along with a solid sweeper, but can be erratic with command. He came into the season with a 14.9 percent walk rate, but was able to drop it way down to 7.1 percent during his time at High-A (eight starts, 41 2/3 IP), which helped earn the 22-year-old a promotion to Double-A. Unfortunately, the command issues have resurfaced at Double-A, logging a 15.0 percent walk rate over seven appearances and 35 2/3 IP, although the righty was able to post a 3.79 ERA and 1.18 WHIP. There's a chance he could see some time at Triple-A before the season is out and could make a debut next year, but if he can't rein in the walks, a transition to the bullpen could be in his future.
