Charlie Barnes News
Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Charlie Barnes put together a so-so effort in Saturday's no-decision against the Brewers. Barnes pitched four innings, allowing four runs, three earned, on four hits and one walk. He struck out a pair of batters. The lefty hasn't pitched deep into games this year, something that continued Saturday. He's now allowed 19 earned runs over 22 2/3 innings while exhibiting shaky control, as evidenced by his 12:10 strikeout-to-walk ratio. Barnes is off the fantasy radar, especially considering that he has yet to register a win or quality start.
Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Charlie Barnes got blasted by the Bronx Bombers Friday night, giving up seven runs on eight hits and five walks in five innings to the New York Yankees in a 10-2 defeat. He struck out two batters, allowed one home run, and saw his record on the year drop to 0-3. With a 6.56 ERA and 1.63 WHIP in 23 1/3 innings this year, Barnes shouldn't be anywhere near fantasy rosters, and he may not be long for the majors either.
Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Charlie Barnes was effective against the Tampa Bay Rays Sunday, allowing just one run on three hits and no walks in five innings. He struck out three batters, and his only real blemish was a solo home run to Mike Zunino in the fifth inning. Barnes has now appeared in four games, with three of them being starts. His 4.91 ERA and 1.36 WHIP aren't too disastrous, but with just nine strikeouts in 18 1/3 innings, it would be hard to see rostering Barnes in any format at this point.
