Colin Houck Promoted to High-A Brooklyn

New York Mets infield prospect Colin Houck has been promoted to High-A Brooklyn. The 2023 first-rounder slashed .252/.351/.461 with eight home runs and 11 steals in 62 games for Single-A St. Lucie. The right-handed hitter recorded a high 28.7 percent strikeout rate, but it was a vast improvement over last season's 36.3 percent strikeout rate at the same level. He also walked at an above-average rate of 12.3 percent, which is the third straight season he's walked at a double-digit rate. At just 20 years old, he's still got time to develop and figures to be a couple of years away from the majors at this point. The 6-foot-2 slugger has some good pop in his bat, but for now he's not on the dynasty league radar.

Colin Houck Goes Deep Twice on Wednesday

New York Mets infield prospect Colin Houck went 2-for-4 with two home runs during their contest against Low-A Palm Beach on Wednesday. This was Houck's first multi-home run game of the Low-A regular season. In addition, this outing extended his current hitting streak to three games. Before this recent surge at the plate, Young was in a slump as he carried a .179/.283/.282 line with just one home run over his last 11 contests. Through 43 games with Low-A St. Lucie this season, Houck has struggled at times as he holds a .222/.315/.424 line. However, he has continued to flash upside power, launching six home runs over this stretch. Young also spent the entire 2024 season with Low-A. If he can continue to find his swing, he should be in the mix to reach High-A before the end of the campaign.

Colin Houck Ends Power Slump

New York Mets shortstop prospect Colin Houck launched his first home run in 11 games on Thursday evening. The former 32nd overall pick in last year's MLB Draft has had trouble finding consistency in his first look at Single-A ball. Through 61 games this season, Houck has posted a .202/.302/.325 line with just three home runs, 28 RBI, seven swiped bags, and a poor 28:93 BB:K ratio. Houck appeared in nine games in the Rookie League late last season and tallied seven hits with one triple during the stint. The 19-year-old will have to find more consistency in his game at Single-A before earning a promotion. Dynasty managers should continue to monitor Houck's performance as he is considered one of the top prospects in the Mets system on MLB.com.
