Dalton Rushing Smacks a Double in His Rehab Assignment Thursday

Los Angeles Dodgers rookie catcher Dalton Rushing (lower leg) began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Thursday and went 1-for-4 with a double and caught all nine innings, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports. Rushing has been sidelined since September 6, but it appears to be a short stint, as he was able to play the whole game on Thursday. It seems he has a strong chance to be activated after a minimum stay on the injured list. Rushing has gotten his opportunities in the big leagues, slashing .194/.254/.298 with three home runs, 21 RBI, and 12 runs scored through 121 at-bats. While it appears likely the Dodgers will call him back up before the season's end, fantasy managers competing in the playoffs of their leagues will want to look elsewhere for catcher production. Rushing remains a strong dynasty stash.

Dalton Rushing Heads to Injured List

Los Angeles Dodgers catcher Dalton Rushing (shin) was placed on the 10-day injured list on Saturday. Rushing was forced to make an early exit from Friday's contest after fouling a ball off his leg. Luckily, the CT scan didn't reveal any fractures, so Rushing won't require surgery. However, Rushing will miss time due to a bruised left shin. The Dodgers are shorthanded behind the plate with Will Smith (hand) also sidelined. In a corresponding move, Chuckie Robinson has been recalled to give the Dodgers some depth behind the plate. Robinson and Ben Rortvedt figure to split up the time behind the plate for now.

Dalton Rushing Diagnosed with Leg Contusion, Will Go for CT Scan

Los Angeles Dodgers catcher Dalton Rushing (leg) exited a 2-1 loss to the Baltimore Orioles on Friday with a contusion in his lower right leg. X-rays came back negative, but Rushing was on crutches after the game and will go for a CT scan, Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register reports. The timing of Rushing's injury is terrible for the Dodgers, who may have to go without starting catcher Will Smith (hand) for the weekend after he suffered a bone bruise in his right hand on Wednesday. Rushing was in the lineup in Smith's place Friday, but the Dodgers had to bring in Ben Rortvedt to fill in behind the plate in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Rushing and Smith down, Plunkett notes that they'll add another catcher to the roster in the next day. Chuckie Robinson, who's with Triple-A Oklahoma City, is the most likely candidate.

Dalton Rushing Exits Early with Knee Injury

Los Angeles Dodgers catcher Dalton Rushing (knee) was forced to make an early exit from Friday's game against the Baltimore Orioles. Rushing needed to be carried off the field after fouling a ball off his leg in the sixth inning. The fact he wasn't able to get off the field under his own power isn't a good sign. However, Rushing will likely undergo further testing before they determine the next step for him. Rushing went 0-for-2 at the plate before exiting the contest. The Dodgers are also without Will Smith (hand) right now, which puts them in a bad spot. Ben Rortvedt could be asked to make a few starts behind the plate.

Dodgers Unlikely to Trade Dalton Rushing?

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts says he hasn't spoken to Dodgers catcher Dalton Rushing about trade speculation and doesn't "see a world in which he's moved anyway." The 24-year-old top prospect would seem to be a logical trade candidate as he's blocked off from regular playing time by star backstop Will Smith in Los Angeles, but it doesn't appear that the team is moving in that direction. Rushing has served as Smith's primary backup for much of 2025, slashing .200/.270/.275 with one home run and 11 RBI in 89 plate appearances. He's also logged four games at first base, so there's a possibility he could move out from behind the plate in future seasons. Rushing has struck out at an unsustainably high 40.4% rate so far this season, but he only struck out 20.5% of the time in 503 minor league plate appearances in 2024. He would be an intriguing high-upside player in fantasy if he had a path to regular playing time, but it doesn't look like that will happen in 2025.

Dalton Rushing Hits First Career Home Run

Los Angeles Dodgers catcher/outfielder Dalton Rushing achieved a milestone in his career during Saturday's game against the New York Yankees. In the eighth inning, Rushing sent the ball over the wall for a three-run home run, which was the first of his career. He would finish the game 1-for-2 with a homer and three RBI in the blowout win. Since being called up, Rushing is slashing .273/.304/.455 with one homer and seven RBI in 23 plate appearances. Sadly, Rushing isn't seeing enough playing time to warrant rostering in most fantasy formats.

Dalton Rushing Busy in MLB Debut

Los Angeles Dodgers catcher/outfield prospect Dalton Rushing went 2-for-3 with a walk and three runs during his MLB debut on Thursday evening against the Athletics. Rushing hit two singles. He got the starting nod behind the dish and was in the seven-hole. This was a promising debut for the top prospect in the Dodger system. While Rushing got the start at catcher in this contest, fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status, as he could work out a role in left field, especially if Michael Conforto were to continue to struggle. At Triple-A this season, Rushing was very productive, posting a strong .308/.424/.514 slash line with five doubles and five home runs. However, given that Rushing appears to only be viewed as a catcher, his upside will be limited, serving as the clear No. 2 behind Will Smith.

Dalton Rushing Making MLB Debut On Thursday

Los Angeles Dodgers catcher Dalton Rushing will make his big league debut against the Athletics on Thursday. Rushing was called up on Wednesday, but didn't enter the contest. The 24-year-old will be behind the plate and bat seventh versus right-hander Osvaldo Bido on Thursday. Rushing is a top prospect, but isn't likely to have a ton of fantasy value right away. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts has already said that Rushing is likely only going to start twice a week. Will Smith remains the primary catcher in Los Angeles, but he'll receive an off day on Thursday. Fantasy managers in deep leagues can take a look at Rushing, but he won't be a great option right away.

Dodgers Calling Up Dalton Rushing

The Athletic's Fabian Ardaya reports that the Los Angeles Dodgers are calling up prized catching prospect Dalton Rushing from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Wednesday, according to sources. Rushing will get his first big-league promotion after tearing up the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League to the tune of a .308/.424/.514 slash line with a .938 OPS, five home runs, 17 RBI and 23 runs scored in 31 games played. The 24-year-old backstop has also appeared in eight games at first base and made a start in left field. Will Smith is locked in as L.A.'s starting catcher, so Rushing's primary path to playing time will likely be in the outfield with both Teoscar Hernandez (groin) and Tommy Edman (ankle) currently on the injured list. The 5-foot-11, 220-pounder is a well-rounded hitter with a short swing from the left side, giving him solid power at the catching position and strong on-base skills.

Dalton Rushing Homers, Collects Two RBI On Wednesday

Los Angeles Dodgers catching prospect Dalton Rushing went 2-for-3 with a walk and a home run for Triple-A Oklahoma City on Wednesday, collecting two RBI and scoring once in the process. The Dodgers' top prospect has now hit safely in eight of his last nine games, and is slashing .323/.435/.527 thanks in part to four home runs and a strong 15.3 percent walk rate. The 24-year-old continues to make his push for a big league debut, and although he is a catcher by trade, the team has had him play first base and some outfield so far this season in an effort to create multiple paths to playing time. Look for a call-up in June sometime, and those in NL-only and two-catcher leagues should consider stashing MLB's 26th-ranked prospect for his potential power production in a potent L.A. lineup, who carries eligibility at C and OF on Yahoo!.
