The Baltimore Orioles have signed outfielder Daniel Johnson to a minor-league deal. The 28-year-old spent the 2023 season in the Padres organization, hitting .263 with 13 home runs and 21 stolen bases across 98 games at Double-A while also hitting .296 with six HR and nine SB across 28 games at the Triple-A level. A long-time minor league journeyman, Johnson is a lifetime .268 hitter with 89 HR and 108 SB across 679 minor-league contests since making his professional debut in the 2016 season. His big-league resume consists of 35 games with the Guardians from 2020-2021 as he hit .202 with four HR and one SB across 94 plate appearances in that time. He could serve as Triple-A outfield depth for Cleveland in 2024.

The San Diego Padres have signed outfielder Daniel Johnson to a minor-league deal. The 27-year-old was once a highly regarded prospect in the Cleveland Guardians farm system. Sadly, Johnson hasn't been given much of a chance to show what he can do at the big league level. In 2021, Johnson hit .202/.245/.337 with four homers in 30 games with Cleveland. Since then, Johnson spent time with the New York Mets and Washington Nationals minor league system. This appears to be a move to add outfield depth, so fantasy managers can continue to avoid Johnson. It's unlikely that he makes the big league roster to begin the season.

Cleveland Indians outfielder Daniel Johnson went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Minnesota Twins. Johnson took a Bailey Ober pitch deep to right field to give the Indians a 2-0 lead in the top of the fifth inning and that ended up being the difference in the game. It was a nice night for Johnson, but he currently does not see enough playing time to be worth a flier, even in deeper leagues.

Cleveland Indians outfield prospect Daniel Johnson hit two home runs in three at-bats on Tuesday against the Texas Rangers. He's now 4-for-11 (.364) this spring in five appearances and is a dark-horse candidate to win a spot on Cleveland's opening day roster in 2021. Johnson is battling Jordan Luplow and Bradley Zimmer for playing time. He's an athletic player capable of hitting for power and stealing bases with 20-20 (HR-SB) upside. Johnson, 25, had a solid season in 2019 split between double-A and triple-A but spent most of 2020 at the alternate training site. He also made his MLB debut last year but had just one hit in 12 at-bats.
