Elmer Rodriguez Worth Stash In Anticipation of Another MLB Chance

New York Yankees pitching prospect Elmer Rodriguez is coming off of two very good starts in August at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre as he had two earned runs in 11 innings pitched on his way to a 1-0 mark. He had 13 strikeouts over those 11 combined innings and allowed just six hits and six walks. He also had a very productive July at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, proving he might be ready for another shot to pitch for the Yankees. Rodriguez is looking like a good stash in redraft leagues in hopes he gets called back up and can produce in another opportunity with New York. The No. 3 prospect of the Yankees, Rodriguez is ready to improve on his 0-2 mark in four starts with the Yankees this season. He has a 55-grade fastball, curveball, and changeup with a 50-grade slider. He seems to have the stuff to be successful for the Yankees and could be a good late addition to fantasy rosters.

Elmer Rodriguez's Control Issues Hindering his Stash Status

New York Yankees pitching prospect Elmer Rodriguez struggled with command in his latest outing, walking five batters in just four innings of work, which was the fourth time this season he's walked four or more batters in an appearance. This latest step back followed two back-to-back solid showings from the Yankees' third-ranked prospect, whose ERA stands at 2.85 but with a 4.02 FIP, along with a 1.32 WHIP due in part to a high 12.5 percent walk rate. The right-hander will likely find himself back in New York in the coming weeks after having debuted with the club earlier this year, but after posting a 4.76 ERA (5.14 FIP) and not having pitched more than 4 2/3 innings in any of his four starts with the Yankees, optimism from a fantasy perspective should be tempered. The 22-year-old will make another start for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Thursday, so any interested fantasy managers should monitor for any positive developments.

Elmer Rodriguez Pitching Well at Triple-A Before Potential MLB Reunion

New York Yankees pitching prospect Elmer Rodriguez has pitched efficiently all year at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and is looking for a second shot to pitch for the Yankees at the big league level this season. At Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, Rodriguez is 7-3 with a 2.85 ERA in 17 starts. He has 87 strikeouts in 85 1/3 innings pitched with a 1.32 WHIP. He is 0-2 in four starts with the Yankees this season, with nine earned runs in 19 innings. He has 10 strikeouts with 11 walks. The 22-year-old right-hander is the No. 3 prospect in the Yankees system with a 60-grade fastball and three 55-grade secondary pitches in his curveball, slider, and splitter. Rodriguez is worth stashing in hopes he will get another opportunity to make another MLB start or two.

Elmer Rodriguez has Productive July at Triple-A

New York Yankees pitching prospect Elmer Rodriguez had an excellent month of July at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre with a 4-0 record, 2.73 ERA, and 1.37 WHIP with 26 strikeouts in 26 1/3 innings pitched. Rodriguez has seen time with the big league club this year, making four starts for the Yankees and compiling an 0-2 record with a 4.76 ERA and 1.76 WHIP with 10 strikeouts in 17 innings pitched. Rodriguez has had a very productive minor league season but has yet to see the results in the major leagues. After his productive July, however, fantasy managers may want to take a chance and roster him in case he is called back up for another opportunity. He's the Yankees' No. 3 prospect and has a 60-grade fastball with three 55-grade secondary pitches in his curveball, slider, and splitter. At age 22, Rodriguez has the pedigree to be successful. He might just need another chance in the big leagues this season.

Time to Stash Elmer Rodriguez Ahead of Looming Return to Yankees?

New York Yankees starting pitching prospect Elmer Rodriguez could be a sneaky pitching source for fantasy owners during the second half of the season. Rodriguez has had his audition with the big-league club and went 0-2 with a 4.76 ERA and a 1.76 WHIP. He struck out 10 in 17 innings pitched over four starts. Rodriguez has spent much of the season dominating at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. At Scranton, the right-hander has posted a 5-3 overall record with a 2.85 ERA and 1.30 WHIP with 67 strikeouts in 66 1/3 innings. He also has the prospect pedigree as the Yankees' No. 3 overall prospect. Having already tried his hand in the majors, now might be a good time to stash Rodriguez before he is called up again to aid the Yankees. His strikeout numbers are good in the minors, making him a promising candidate to perform well in the major league rotation. With Carlos Rodon set to face a lengthy absence, Rodriguez is in a good position to earn another stint in the Bronx later in the summer.

Elmer Rodriguez Strikes Out Six in Latest Start, Back on Stash Radar?

New York Yankees pitching prospect Elmer Rodriguez struck out six in his latest start at Triple-A, though he also yielded eight hits (one home run) and a pair of walks across 6 1/3 innings pitched. The Yankees' third-ranked prospect is biding his time at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre until he is needed again in the big leagues. The team has already called him up twice this season, and the results were not great. The right-hander made four starts and pitched to a 4.76 ERA (6.11 xFIP), 1.76 WHIP, and walked more batters (11) than he struck out (10) in 17 innings of work. The 6-foot-4 hurler is slated to pitch for the RailRiders again on Thursday, though the Yankees also do not currently have a starter announced for their Thursday matchup against Tampa Bay, so perhaps Rodriguez could be an option. Nevertheless, fantasy managers desperate for pitching help should monitor the situation as the 22-year-old could be in line for another call-up shortly, even if it doesn't come Thursday, though there is little reason to stash him in most leagues.

Elmer Rodriguez to Start on Sunday, Worth Adding Ahead of Return?

New York Yankees starting pitcher Elmer Rodriguez was recalled to make the start against the Cincinnati Reds on Sunday. The Yankees want to give their starters some extra rest, so they'll recall Rodriguez to make the start on Sunday. The right-hander has already made three starts for the Yankees this season. He owns a 4.15 ERA, 1.85 WHIP, and a 6:9 K:BB ratio across 13 innings in Pinstripes. Rodriguez has posted quality numbers during his 10 starts in Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this season. The Reds offense isn't exactly striking fear into any pitchers right now. Fantasy managers should consider scooping up Rodriguez for a spot start on Sunday.

Will Elmer Rodriguez Return to the Major-League Roster?

New York Yankees right-handed pitching prospect Elmer Rodriguez made his MLB debut earlier this season but was optioned back to the minors once Carlos Rodon and Gerrit Cole both returned from the injured list. In his brief taste of the major leagues, Rodriguez made three starts and logged 13 innings to the tune of a 4.15 ERA and a 1.85 WHIP. His high 14.1% walk rate limited much of his production in this brief stint. However, at Triple-A this season, Rodriguez has looked quite comfortable, posting a strong 2.74 ERA and 1.22 WHIP over 46 innings. While his command has remained an issue at this level (21 total talks), he has totaled 49 punchouts and limited the damage. With fellow top prospect Carlos Lagrange being shifted to the bullpen, Rodriguez remains a viable option to replace a starter on the MLB roster in the event of an injury. However, given his unstable command, managers should only consider stashing him in deeper 12+ team leagues with multiple N/A spots.

Yankees Send Elmer Rodriguez Back to Triple-A

The New York Yankees announced on Monday that they optioned right-handed pitching prospect Elmer Rodriguez back to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and signed right-hander Yovanny Cruz to a major-league contract and selected him to the active roster in a corresponding move. Rodriguez, 22, will head back to the farm after a successful spot start in Sunday's series finale against the crosstown-rival New York Mets. In just his third major-league start for the Yanks this year, he allowed only one earned run on five hits while walking one and striking out one in 4 1/3 innings of work to take a no-decision. Per MLB Pipeline, Rodriguez is the team's No. 2 prospect, behind only infield prospect George Lombard Jr. With right-hander Gerrit Cole (elbow) nearing his 2026 season debut later this month, we might not see Rodriguez back in the big-league starting rotation for a while now. The 6-foot-4, 177-pounder is still one of the better young pitchers to stash in deeper fantasy baseball leagues. He's currently rostered in only 5% of Yahoo leagues.

Elmer Rodriguez to Start on Sunday Against the Mets

New York Yankees right-handed pitching prospect Elmer Rodriguez said that he will start Sunday's Subway Series finale against the New York Mets, according to Pete Caldera of The Bergen Record. For the time being, Rodriguez will take the rotation spot in the Bronx after the Yankees placed left-hander Max Fried (elbow) on the 15-day injured list. The 22-year-old was recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Saturday and will be making just his third big-league start. Left-hander Ryan Weathers was previously scheduled to start on Sunday, so he will likely be pushed back to Monday's series opener in the Bronx against the division-rival Toronto Blue Jays. Rodriguez, the team's No. 2 prospect per MLB Pipeline, allowed five earned runs on 10 hits while walking eight and striking out five in 8 2/3 innings in his first two MLB starts (both against the Texas Rangers). He has plenty of long-term strikeout upside and will have an excellent matchup against the Mets, who rank 30th in baseball in OPS (.638). However, with Gerrit Cole's (elbow) return on the horizon, Rodriguez might only make another start or two with the Yanks before being sent back down to Triple-A.
