Geoff Hartlieb Recalled From Syracuse

New York Mets relief pitcher Geoff Hartlieb was called up from Triple-A on Sunday. With the Metropolitans dealing with injuries throughout the rotation, the 27-year-old will provide some much-needed depth moving ahead. However, fantasy managers looking to fill some holes on the roster may want to look elsewhere, primarily since Hartlieb currently owns a 7.50 ERA throughout six big-league innings this season.

Geoff Hartlieb Throws Perfect Inning Against Yankees

Pittsburgh Pirates relief pitcher Geoff Hartlieb threw a perfect inning of relief on Saturday in a 7-5 loss to the Yankees. Hartlieb opened up the fifth innings with back-to-back strikeouts against Brett Gardner and DJ LeMahieu before getting Aaron Judge to ground out to second to end the inning. Hartlieb has not allowed a baserunner through his first three appearances this spring, as he has three strikeouts in three innings of work. Despite a rough 2020 campaign in which he had 19 walks and 19 strikeouts in 22 1/3 innings of work, Hartlieb has the potential to be a high-strikeout middle reliever, and if he cracks the Opening Day roster he would be a solid add in SV/HLD leagues.

Geoff Hartlieb Pounded For Seven Runs And Seven Hits

Pittsburgh Pirates reliever Geoff Hartlieb endured the worst outing of his young career on Tuesday, allowing seven runs (all earned) on seven hits in just 2 1/3 innings of work in the Pirates 11-6 loss to the Reds. He replaced starter Jordan Lyles, who left the game after four innings of work due to left hamstring discomfort, in the bottom of the fifth with the Pirates trailing 3-0. Five of the hits that Hartlieb surrendered were of the extra-base variety, which includes two home runs. It was the 25-year-old rookie's second straight poor performance and he has posted a 22.50 ERA and a 3.50 WHIP over his last four innings of work.
