Hagen Smith Still Worth Stashing Amid Shoulder Injury?

Chicago White Sox pitching prospect Hagen Smith (shoulder) has been shut down for two weeks with a left shoulder impingement, delaying his MLB debut until some time later in the second half of the season. Chicago's fourth-ranked prospect had been performing well as of late, yielding just three earned runs on nine hits and six walks while striking out 25 over his last three starts (14 innings) heading into Saturday before getting tagged for eight runs (seven earned) and allowing a whopping four home runs in 4 1/3 innings of work in his latest outing. It felt like the left-hander's major league debut could come at any time, but fantasy managers will now have to wait until he returns to the mound and can prove to be effective once again. Without a clear timeline for return and knowing a debut won't come anytime soon, the 22-year-old is likely only worth stashing in the deepest of formats, but he could become one of the top arms to stash in all leagues later this year once he gets rolling again.

White Sox Prospect Hagen Smith Dealing With Shoulder Impingement

The Chicago White Sox say that left-handed pitching prospect Hagen Smith (shoulder) has a left-shoulder impingement, according to James Fegan of The Athletic. The initial plan is for two weeks of no throwing for Smith, followed by two more weeks of ramping up and throwing before he returns to game action in the minors. The team's No. 4 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, will be out for a total of four weeks, pushing back his potential big-league debut to later in the second half of the 2026 season. The 22-year-old former fifth overall pick in 2024 out of the University of Arkansas has gone 0-5 at Triple-A Charlotte this year with a 4.67 ERA, 1.40 WHIP, and 77:36 K:BB in 52 innings and 14 starts. Despite the lackluster surface stats, Smith was beginning to gain more momentum for his first big-league call-up in Chicago before his shoulder injury. The 6-foot-3, 235-pounder should still be stashed in all dynasty/keeper leagues, but those in deeper single-year formats might want to temper expectations now for what Smith might be able to provide down the stretch in the big leagues. Smith is rostered in only 3% of Yahoo leagues.

Is Hagen Smith the Next Top Pitching Prospect to Debut?

Chicago White Sox left-handed pitching prospect Hagen Smith has turned the corner at Triple-A Charlotte and appears to be the next high-end pitching prospect to earn the call. The former fifth overall pick endured some growing pains at the beginning of the regular season when he posted a rough 4.54 ERA with a 1.46 WHIP over his first 33 2/3 innings of work. During this stretch, Smith struggled to command his pitches, allowing a high 7.2 BB/9. However, since this slump, the southpaw has quickly rounded into form, posting a 2.37 ERA with a 1.05 WHIP over his next three games. While he took a step back in his most recent outing, serving up eight runs (seven earned), seeing his command continue to improve is a very positive sign for his long-term outlook. While the 22-year-old will likely need to show this success over a longer period, he has a clear path to join a Chicago rotation that lacks much depth. The young left-hander has established himself as a top pitching prospect to stash in Week 12.

Hagen Smith Trending Towards Making MLB Debut on Saturday?

According to Bruce Levine of 670TheScore.com, the Chicago White Sox could promote top pitching prospect Hagen Smith on Saturday to make his MLB debut against the two-time reigning World Series Champions, the Los Angeles Dodgers. According to Levine, the team is considering turning to the former fifth overall pick to take the mound as there is an open spot in the rotation. While the team has yet to confirm this report, it appears the young southpaw is trending towards making his MLB debut this weekend. Smith has spent the entire campaign at Triple-A Charlotte and has endured some early growing pains. However, after struggling to the tune of a 4.54 ERA with a 1.46 WHIP over his first 32 2/3 innings, he has quickly found his footing. In his last four starts (19 innings), the southpaw has posted a stellar 2.37 ERA with a 32:7 K:BB. Smith was already considered a top pitching prospect to stash, but now holds near must-stash upside in all 12-team leagues given his nearing debut and elite strikeout potential.

Hagen Smith Making Strides at Triple-A, Nearing MLB Debut?

Chicago White Sox pitching prospect Hagen Smith is starting to settle in at Triple-A Charlotte, recording a 1.93 ERA, 1.07 WHIP, .180 opponent batting average, and an elite 32.8 percent K-BB% over his last three starts. The high strikeout totals have always been there, but it is the command that has been the problem. Last season, he walked a sky-high 17.6 percent of batters faced, and this season his walk rate stands at 16.0 percent even with the aforementioned improvements made over the last three starts (10.3 percent BB%). The former fifth-overall draft pick threw 92 pitches in his latest outing, so he's fully stretched out. If the southpaw can keep up the momentum, he could find himself in the majors by midseason, and with that being the case, he should be considered one of the top arms to stash in most fantasy leagues for his strikeout potential.

Top Pitching Prospect Hagen Smith on Verge of a Call-Up Amid Rotation Changes?

Chicago White Sox pitching prospect Hagen Smith could be on the verge of a promotion to the big leagues in the midst of the team's rotation changes, according to speculation from Noah Phalen of Southside Showdown. Chicago has adjusted its rotation for the upcoming week and has yet to announce starting pitchers beyond Tuesday's matchup against the Atlanta Braves. The fifth overall pick in the 2024 MLB Draft, Smith has pitched to a 4.19 ERA and 1.35 WHIP with 63 strikeouts across 43 innings (12 starts) at Triple-A so far this season. Command is a major issue for the 22-year-old, as he owns a 16% walk rate in 2026 after posting a 17.6% walk rate across 75 2/3 innings at Double-A in 2025. However, Smith has also recorded an elite 33.7% strikeout rate this season and offers plenty of swing-and-miss upside for fantasy managers. Fantasy managers in need of strikeouts may want to consider targeting Smith on the waiver wire ahead of a possible promotion.

Hagen Smith Seeing Value Soar as a Top Pitcher to Stash?

Across 43 innings (12 starts) this season at Triple-A, Chicago White Sox pitching prospect Hagen Smith has recorded a 4.19 ERA, 1.35 WHIP, and 63 strikeouts. Smith owns a 16% walk rate this season and walked 17.6% of the batters he faced at Double-A in 2025, so command is obviously a red flag in his profile. However, the 22-year-old's 33.7% strikeout rate hints at an elite ability to miss bats. Smith has also started to lock in over his last two starts at Triple-A, allowing three earned runs and three walks while striking out 16 across 9 1/3 innings of work. Smith has logged just 126 1/3 total innings in the minors since being drafted fifth overall by the White Sox in 2024. Between his lack of experience and his walk issues, Chicago may need to see more from him before giving him an opportunity in the big leagues. Still, Smith's ability to miss bats gives him major fantasy upside and may make him worth stashing off the waiver wire in deeper leagues.

Hagen Smith Rounding Into Form at Triple-A, Emerging as a Top Pitcher to Stash?

Chicago White Sox left-handed pitching prospect Hagen Smith has begun to find his footing at the Triple-A level and is now firmly on the stash radar among pitching prospects. Since allowing four runs over 3 2/3 innings on May 21, the young southpaw has gone to log five innings in each of his last two games while allowing only two runs in each contest. During this 10-inning stint, Smith has struck out 14 hitters while walking only two total batters. This is worth noting, as his command was a major weakness in the opening month of the season, during which he walked a high 27 hitters over his first 33 2/3 innings. While the former fifth-overall pick will need to show this progress over a longer stretch of time, he could put himself in a position to earn the call before the All-Star break, given Chicago's lack of depth in its starting rotation.

Hagen Smith Remains Intriguing Stash Target with High Strikeout Potential

Chicago White Sox starting pitching prospect Hagen Smith continues to showcase high-end strikeout potential at the top club in the minor leagues. While Smith's overall production has remained far from consistent, the young southpaw has continued to miss bats at a high rate, which has caused his stash upside to gradually increase. The 22-year-old joined the White Sox with the fifth overall pick in the 2024 MLB Draft and has quickly progressed through the minor leagues. Last summer, Smith spent his entire campaign with Double-A, where he struck out 108 hitters over 75 2/3 innings while holding a 3.57 ERA. However, during his first stint with Triple-A, Smith has posted a modest 4.54 ERA with a 47:27 K:BB over 33 2/3 innings. While his command needs to be stronger, Smith does not face much competition to earn a spot in the MLB rotation, which makes him worth closely monitoring in deeper redraft leagues.

Hagen Smith's Strikeout Potential Warrants Stash Consideration

Chicago White Sox pitching prospect Hagen Smith struck out another six batters in his latest start at Triple-A and allowed just one earned run on two hits, but his command issue reared it's head again, with the southpaw walking five batters, resulting in an exit after only 3 2/3 innings pitched (75 pitches). Chicago's fourth-ranked prospect has flashed strong strikeout potential over the last two seasons between Double-A and Triple-A, punching out 33.2 percent of batters faced, however, a gaudy 17.6 percent walk rate over that same period shows there is still work to be done. The former fifth-overall draft pick is limiting opponents to a .171 batting average, but a 3.90 ERA (4.16 FIP) and 13.8 percent K-BB% could delay his call-up to the majors. Even so, the 22-year-old is expected to make a debut at some point this season, and with his elite strikeout potential, the lefty should be viewed as one of the top prospect pitchers to stash.
