Harry Ford Traded to the Nationals

The Washington Nationals acquired catching prospect Harry Ford by trading away left-handed reliever Jose A. Ferrer to the Seattle Mariners. The 22-year-old is an MLB Pipeline top-50 prospect who slashed .283/.408/.460 with 16 home runs, 68 runs, 74 RBI, seven steals, and a 125 wRC+ in 458 plate appearances at AAA last year. The Mariners already have All-Star Cal Raleigh behind the dish, which apparently made Ford expendable. For the Nationals, they land a top prospect that can quickly take over for Keibert Ruiz and Riley Adams. Ruiz hasn't come close to replicating his 2023 breakout season, when he slugged 18 home runs with a .274 xBA and a 10.3% strikeout rate. Last year, Ruiz hit only two home runs in 267 plate appearances while battling symptoms from a concussion he sustained on June 23. Ford was called up at the end of last year and may be the Nationals' starting catcher at some point in 2026.

Mariners Acquire Jose A. Ferrer from the Nationals

The Seattle Mariners acquired left-handed reliever Jose A. Ferrer from the Washington Nationals in exchange for catching prospect Harry Ford. The 25-year-old has thrown 142 1/3 career innings with a 4.36 ERA (3.24 SIERA), 121 strikeouts, and a 1.26 WHIP. In 2025, he abandoned his four-seam fastball and posted a career-best 21.9% strikeout rate alongside a career-low 4.9% walk rate. Overall, he recorded 11 saves for Washington last season, finishing with a 4.48 ERA across 76 1/3 innings. Seattle apparently felt it needed another left-hander for the back end of its bullpen and paid a steep price to get one. According to MLB Pipeline, Ford is a top-50 prospect and widely regarded as one of the best up-and-coming catchers in the minor leagues.

Harry Ford Called Up for Major-League Debut

Seattle Mariners catching prospect Harry Ford has been called up to the majors from Triple-A Tacoma for what will be his major-league debut. The Mariners' fourth-ranked prospect was having a productive season for the Rainiers, hitting .283 with 16 home runs while boasting a .408 OBP thanks to a phenomenal 16.2 percent walk rate. After stealing 82 bases over the prior three seasons, Ford's production took a dip there this year with just seven steals in 97 games, but if he gets back to swiping bags, it is a trait that would set him apart from most other catchers, making him even more appealing for fantasy. With Cal Raleigh blocking his current path to playing time, it's unclear how regular his at-bats with the Mariners will be, so fantasy managers in redraft leagues don't need to overspend on the 22-year-old, but the former first-round draft pick's arrow still points up in dynasty leagues.

Harry Ford Homers Again Friday

Seattle Mariners prospect Harry Ford launched a 411-foot homer on Friday, bringing his total to 15 on the year. The 22-year-old has impressed at Triple-A with a strong plate approach, walking at a 15.3% rate while keeping his strikeouts at just 18.9%. Ford is slashing .294/.412/.479 this season and looks ready for the next step. However, with Cal Raleigh entrenched as Seattle's starting catcher, Ford's MLB debut may not come until 2026. Dynasty managers should already be stashing him, as his on-base skills and power make him a premium long-term asset.

Harry Ford Goes Deep, Extends Hitting Streak to Seven Games

Seattle Mariners catching prospect Harry Ford went 2-for-3 with a home run during their contest against Triple-A Sugar Land on Tuesday evening. This outing also extended his current hitting streak to seven games. During this stretch, the backstop has posted an impressive .393/.500/.643 slash line with one double, two home runs, two stolen bases, and a 7:4 K:BB. Overall, the former 12th overall pick in the 2021 MLB Draft has looked quite impressive during his first taste of Triple-A ball. Through 77 games, Ford has posted a .299/.416/.460 slash line with 15 doubles, 11 home runs, six stolen bases, and a 64:55 K:BB. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his production as he could be in the mix to make his MLB debut later this season. However, with Cal Raleigh seeing the majority of starts on the MLB level, Ford's upside would likely be very limited.

Harry Ford Launches Grand Slam, Extends Hitting Streak to Four Games

Seattle Mariners catching prospect Harry Ford went 2-for-5 with a grand slam during their contest against Triple-A Round Rock on Wednesday evening. In this game, Ford tallied five RBI and scored two runs. Over his last four games, Ford has held a .353/.450/.529 slash line with a 4:1 K:BB and one stolen base. After a disappointing 2024 campaign with Double-A, the budding backstop has looked quite comfortable during his first step of Triple-A action. Through 74 total games with Triple-A Tacoma, the No. 55-ranked prospect in the sport on MLB.com has posted a strong .293/.409/.446 slash line with 14 doubles and 10 long balls. Last season, the backstop held a modest .249/.377/.367 with a low .744 OPS across an entire season with Double-A. Given his steady progress this summer, Ford should be in the mix to make his MLB debut in the second half.

Harry Ford Hits Slump in July

Seattle Mariners catching prospect Harry Ford hit a bit of a slump through the start of July at Triple-A Tacoma. The budding backstop has held a modest .206/.341/.353 slash line with two doubles and a long ball across eight games. However, during June, Ford held a much higher .263/.380/.406 line with five doubles, two home runs, and 15 RBI through 20 games. After spending the entire 2024 campaign at the Double-A level, the No. 5-ranked prospect in the system was given the nod to open the 2025 campaign with Triple-A. Through 69 games, Ford has posted a strong .292/.409/.446 slash line with 14 doubles, nine home runs, and four stolen bases. While he did join the Seattle taxi squad for a few days in June, he never appeared in an MLB contest. However, given his impressive first half, he should earn his true debut in the coming weeks.

Harry Ford Joining Big-League Club

Seattle Mariners catcher Harry Ford will be joining the Mariners in Texas on Friday after catcher Mitch Garver took a foul tip off the jaw in Thursday's game, reports Daniel Kramer of MLB.com. Ford was initially scheduled to play a game in Triple-A on Thursday but was scratched from the lineup so he could make the trip. This doesn't mean that Ford is definitely being promoted, as the plan is to add him to the taxi squad so he's ready to step in if Garver needs to be placed on the injured list. Expect official word sometime on Friday after Garver's medical scan results are available. Ford has been very productive in the minors so far this season, slashing .311/.426/.469 with eight home runs in 60 games. The top prospect could be relevant in two-catcher leagues if he gets enough playing time.

Harry Ford Walks Twice, Drives In Three on Wednesday

Seattle Mariners catcher prospect Harry Ford went 2-for-2 with three RBI and two walks in Wednesday's 13-4 loss against Triple-A Round Rock. Ford provided nearly all of the offense for his team in this game, and continued his strong month of June. He's hitting .282/.402/.437 with a 12:14 BB:K in 71-at bats. The power output will be around average, but he has also produced a healthy number of steals throughout his time in the minor leagues which not many catchers can say. He is blocked at catcher by baseball's home run leader in Cal Raleigh, but could come up and make starts at catcher, first base, or DH later in the season.

Harry Ford Homers, Drives in Six on Wednesday

Seattle Mariners catcher prospect Harry Ford went 2-for-5 with a home run, double, and six RBI in Wednesday's 10-0 win against Triple-A Sacramento. Ford stuffed the box score and posted a career high in RBI. The 22-year-old has displayed a mature approach at the plate this season, with a 36:38 BB:K. His quality of contact has been promising as well, with a 45.6 percent hard-hit rate. Ford is ranked as the number 63 overall prospect in baseball on MLB.com. There's a decent chance we see Ford make his MLB debut at some point this season, with him seeing plenty of reps at DH. His combination of skills would make for a solid speculative add in most formats.
