Jac Caglianone in Lineup on Sunday

Kansas City Royals outfielder Jac Caglianone (elbow) is in the lineup against the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday. He'll play right field and bat eighth versus right-hander Trey Yesavage. Caglianone left the Royals' 2-1 win early on Saturday after taking a pitch off the right elbow, but it won't cost him any additional time. The 22-year-old has a week left to try to end a difficult rookie campaign on a positive note. Since debuting on June 3, Caglianone has struggled to a .162/.239/.298 line with seven homers, 18 RBI, and 18 runs scored in 57 games and 218 plate appearances.

Jac Caglianone Returning From 10-Day Injured List on Monday

The Kansas City Royals announced that they will activate outfielder Jac Caglianone (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list on Monday. The 22-year-old rookie missed the last few days of July and all of August with a strained left hamstring. Caglianone was the sixth pick in the 2024 draft, and his promotion to the majors in early June came with great fanfare. However, he could only muster a .147/.205/.280 slash line with five home runs and 10 RBI in 41 games and 161 plate appearances before he went on the IL. While Caglianone has slashed a video game-like .337/.408/.617 with 20 homers and 72 RBI across 304 trips to the plate at the Triple-A level this season, it's unclear how much playing time he'll receive in his return to the Royals. Fellow left-handed hitter Mike Yastrzemski, acquired from the San Francisco Giants after Caglianone landed on the shelf, has taken over as the team's primary right fielder and has thrived.

Jac Caglianone Homers in Rehab Game

Kansas City Royals outfielder Jac Caglianone (hamstring) went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run on Tuesday against Triple-A Columbus. Caglianone has been looking healthy during his rehab games, going 12-for-24 with three home runs and a stolen base in six games. The slugging first baseman will look to translate that success back to the major leagues when he returns. It's been a struggle for the 2024 sixth overall pick so far through 41 games with the Royals, as he's hit .147/.205/.280 with five homers. Positively, the quality of contact has still been there with a 12.1% barrel rate and 41.4% hard-hit rate. He hasn't been totally overwhelmed with a 21.1% strikeout rate, and it seems to be a matter of time before he breaks out of the slump. He should be added in most standard leagues if he were dropped.

Jac Caglianone Tallies Four Hits in Triple-A Omaha on Tuesday

Kansas City Royals' 22-year-old outfielder Jac Caglianone (hamstring) tallied four hits in Tuesday's game against the St. Paul Saints, going 4-for-5 with one run scored and one RBI. Caglianone landed on the injured list with this injury back on July 26, and took a positive step forward on Tuesday to return to the Royals lineup. Unfortunately for Caglianone, the Royals traded for Randal Grichuk and Mike Yastrzemski at the trade deadline, both of whom are outfielders, which limits his opportunities to secure a spot in the everyday lineup. Still, his upside is too good to pass up, which means he should get that chance to play every day once he returns. Before landing on the IL, the rookie produced a poor .147/.205/.280 slash line with five home runs, one stolen base, 10 RBI, and nine runs over 161 plate appearances through his first 41 big-league games. That being said, his .332 xwOBA and .260 xBA showcase signs that he was getting a bit unlucky.

Jac Caglianone Beginning Rehab Assignment on Tuesday

Kansas City Royals first baseman Jac Caglianone (hamstring) is scheduled to begin a minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Omaha on Tuesday. Caglianone was cleared for baseball activities last week, now he's ready to take the next step. The rookie slugger has been sidelined since late July due to a hamstring strain. The expectation is that he'll need a handful of games to get back into the swing of things. He should be ready to rejoin the Royals lineup by late August. Fantasy managers should check back for another update on his status later in the week.

Jac Caglianone Could Start Rehab Assignment Next Week

Kansas City Royals manager Matt Quatraro said that rookie first baseman/outfielder Jac Caglianone is doing well, and if everything continues to go well this weekend, he will start a minor-league rehab assignment next week. Caglianone, the sixth overall pick last year out of Florida, should be back with the big-league club by the middle of August as long as he doesn't suffer a setback on his rehab assignment. The 6-foot-5, 250-pound former two-way star has had a tough time adjusting to big-league pitching in his rookie season in 2025, as Cags was hitting just .147 (22-for-150) with five home runs, 10 RBI, nine runs scored and a 34:8 K:BB in his first 41 games. There's no denying that Caglianone has elite power upside, but he's going to need to tweak some things with his approach in order to come out of his first year in the big leagues feeling good at the plate.

Jac Caglianone has Yet to Run

Kansas City Royals rookie outfielder Jac Caglianone (hamstring) has been able to hit and throw but hasn't introduced running into his rehab program yet after landing on the 10-day injured list on July 27 with a strained left hamstring, according to MLB.com. The 22-year-old left-handed slugger took live at-bats against rehabbing right-hander Michael Lorenzen last Thursday and is getting close to potentially going on a minor-league rehab assignment. The former two-way star and sixth overall pick in 2024 out of Florida has struggled in his first taste of the big leagues in 2025, but the elite power is there. Through his first 41 games with KC, he's gone 22-for-150 (.147) with five home runs, 10 RBI and a 34:8 K:BB. When Cags does return from the IL, he could be the team's primary designated hitter to close out the year after the Royals added Randal Grichuk and Mike Yastrzemski at the trade deadline.

Jac Caglianone Placed on Injured List

Kansas City Royals first baseman/outfielder Jac Caglianone (hamstring) was placed on the 10-day injured list on Saturday. Ouch, this is tough news after Caglianone was removed from the first game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Cleveland Guardians. He grounded into a double play in the second inning and was pulled out with a hamstring issue in the third. He'll now sit out the next few weeks due to a hamstring issue. It's worth noting that the Royals did acquire outfielder Randal Grichuk from the Arizona Diamondbacks on Saturday. Grichuk figures to help fill the void left by Caglianone in the outfield.

Jac Caglianone Leaves Game with Hamstring Tightness

Kansas City Royals outfielder Jac Caglianone exited the team's game against the Cleveland Guardians on Saturday with tightness in his left hamstring. Caglianone came out after grounding into a second-inning double play in his lone at-bat. The Royals replaced him in right field with John Rave and brought MJ Melendez off the bench to handle left. The severity of Caglianone's injury is unknown, but it's another unfortunate development in what has been a rocky start in the majors. The sixth overall pick in last year's draft, Caglianone debuted on June 3 and has hit an ugly .147/.205/.280 with five home runs and 10 RBI in his first 161 plate appearances in the bigs. The good news is that Caglianone's .330 xwOBA far outpaces his .217 wOBA, which suggests he's in line for positive regression. For now, the hope is that he'll avoid a stint on the 10-day injured list.

Jac Caglianone Sitting on Saturday

Kansas City Royals outfielder Jac Caglianone is not in the lineup for the team's game against the Miami Marlins on Saturday. John Rave will man right field in Caglianone's place and bat eighth in a meeting with right-hander Cal Quantrill. Rave hit the first two home runs of his career in an 8-7 loss to the Marlins on Friday, though he has batted just .194/.280/.333 in 84 trips to the plate. Caglianone has posted even worse numbers since the highly touted prospect made his debut on June 3. The 22-year-old has stumbled out of the gates with a .143/.203/.263 line, four home runs, and seven RBI in 143 plate appearances.
