Cubs
New York Yankees relief pitching prospect Jack Neely was the headliner piece in the deal that sent Cubs relief pitcher Mark Leiter Jr. to the Bronx. Neely slots in as the 20th-best prospect in the deep Cubs system on MLB.com. The 24-year-old has spent most of the summer at Double-A but recently earned a promotion to Triple-A. Neely held a 2.61 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, and a 12:51 BB:K ratio through 31 innings at Double-A. In his first 10 frames at the top level of the minor leagues, the right-hander has posted a 3.38 ERA and 1.31 WHIP. The Ohio State product should spend the rest of the summer with Triple-A Iowa and could emerge as a high-leverage option out of the Chicago bullpen in 2025.

Jack Neely Joins Triple-A
New York Yankees pitching prospect Jack Neely made his Triple-A debut with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on June 19. Neely tossed one shutout frame where he allowed one hit and struck out one batter. Neely spent most of the past two summers with Double-A Somerset and held a strong 2.59 ERA, 1.03 WHIP, and 15:77 BB:K ratio across 48 frames. He showcased similar high-upside strikeout potential with High-A as he struck out 82 batters across 53 innings. The Ohio State product is currently ranked as the 24th-best prospect in the Yankee system and is projected to make his major league debut later this summer. Neely could be worth adding in holds leagues once given the call, as he should be given ample opportunities to tally holds pitching on a strong Yankee team.
