Cubs Reluctant to Part With Jefferson Rojas

The Chicago Cubs would be reluctant to trade shortstop prospect Jefferson Rojas, who was recently promoted to Double-A Knoxville, in a deal this summer for a rental player, according to The Athletic's Patrick Mooney and Sahadev Sharma. Rojas was already in his second season at High-A South Bend at just 20 years old and had an .871 OPS with 11 home runs, 44 RBI, 50 runs scored and 14 stolen bases in 67 games to earn himself a promotion. He has mostly played shortstop in the minors, but Rojas is more likely to play third or second base in the long term at the next level. The Cubs are going to need to be open-minded about trading a high-level prospect like Rojas this summer if it means acquiring a player who can help the Cubs compete for a World Series in 2025 and beyond. Rojas is considered the team's No. 3 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, and is expected to debut in the majors next season.

Jefferson Rojas Makes Double-A Debut

Chicago Cubs infield prospect Jefferson Rojas made his Double-A debut on Friday evening against Birmingham. In this game, Rojas went 1-for-4 with a double. The Cubs officially promoted Rojas to Double-A Knoxville prior to Friday's game. The No. 63-ranked prospect in baseball spent the entire first half with High-A South Bend. Through 67 games, the infielder held a strong .278/.379/.492 slash line with 13 doubles, 11 home runs, and 14 stolen bases. During this stretch, Rojas held a 47:38 K:BB. Last summer, the 20-year-old posted a .245/.310/.366 line through 96 games with High-A. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his progression, as Rojas is quickly progressing through the Chicago system at a young age. He remains on track to contend for his MLB debut next season.

Jefferson Rojas Goes Deep on Thursday

Chicago Cubs infield prospect Jefferson Rojas went 2-for-6 with a home run and two RBI during their contest against High-A Wisconsin. Since the start of July, Rojas has been one of the best hitters in the minor leagues. During this nine-game stretch, the No. 64-ranked prospect in the sport on MLB.com has posted an impressive .333/.385/.667 slash line with three doubles and three home runs. Before this recent surge at the plate, Rojas held a modest .176/.391/.294 line with just two extra-base hits. Rojas has spent the entire campaign with High-A South Bend and held a solid .282/.387/.483 slash line with 13 doubles and nine home runs. Even though Rojas remains several seasons away from his MLB debut, he appears to be quickly progressing in the Chicago system. If he continues to produce at this level, he could be in the mix to reach Double-A later in the second half.

Jefferson Rojas Homers, Extends Hit Streak to Seven Games

Chicago Cubs infield prospect Jefferson Rojas went 2-for-5 with two RBI on Tuesday, belting his eighth home run of the season for High-A South Bend. The hits extended his hit streak to seven games, and he's now recorded multiple hits in three of the last four. The Cubs' third-ranked prospect (MLB No. 64) is now the author of a .284/.393/.480 slash line with 14 steals and a 13.8 percent walk rate compared to just a 15.6 percent strikeout rate. This recent hot stretch could be what gets him to Double-A sooner rather than later, and he's got solid all-around tools that could make him an impactful fantasy asset once he gets to the majors, perhaps as soon as next season. Hence, the Dominican is a prospect to keep an eye on.

Jefferson Rojas Knocks Two Doubles on Sunday

Chicago Cubs infield prospect Jefferson Rojas extended his hitting streak to six games on Sunday during their contest against High-A Peoria. In this game, Rojas went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and a run. During this six-game hitting streak, Rojas has posted two multi-hit games, scored four runs, and added three RBI. During this stretch, he has held a cumulative .364/.440/.636 slash line. The 20-year-old has spent the entire first half of the campaign with High-A South Bend. Through 61 games, the No. 77-ranked prospect in the sport on MLB.com has held a .281/.393/.469 slash line with 13 doubles, seven home runs, and 14 stolen bases. This is a nice improvement compared to the .245/.310/.336 line he held at High-A last summer. Given his strong play this season, he could earn a promotion to Double-A in the coming weeks.

Jefferson Rojas Fills Up the Stat Sheet on Tuesday

Chicago Cubs infield prospect Jefferson Rojas went 2-for-5 with two singles, two RBI, a run scored, and a pair of stolen bases on Tuesday for High-A South Bend. The Cubs' fourth-ranked prospect has been hitting well all season, now batting .284 with 10 doubles, four triples, and five home runs along with 11 steals in 51 games. A 13.7 percent walk rate has helped him to a .388 OBP, and he's striking out at a better-than-average rate of 16.7 percent. Now with 147 games at High-A under his belt between 2024 and 2025, a move to Double-A shouldn't be far off, and he continues to stay on track to potentially make an MLB debut sometime next year.

Jefferson Rojas Stays Hot with Two-Hit Outing

Chicago Cubs infield prospect Jefferson Rojas continued to swing a hot bat on Wednesday evening as he went 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI during their contest against High-A Quad Cities. Rojas has been one of the top hitters at the High-A level throughout the month. Over his last 23 contests, the No. 6-ranked prospect in the system has posted an impressive .344/.423/.589 slash line with five doubles, four triples, three home runs, and five stolen bases. During his first 12 games of the season, the No. 78-ranked prospect in the sport on MLB.com carried a low .217/.321/.326 line with just three extra-base hits (one home run). Last season, the 20-year-old made his High-A debut but has begun to take the next step this season. If he continues to find his footing, Rojas will be a candidate to earn the call to Double-A in the second half of the season.

Jefferson Rojas Tallies Two Triples on Tuesday

Chicago Cubs infield prospect Jefferson Rojas went 2-for-5 with two triples and a run scored on Tuesday for High-A South Bend. It marked the third multi-hit game in his last five, going 8-for-22 (.364) over that stretch and pushed his season-long slash line to .298/.388/.496, including six doubles, four triples, and four home runs. The 20-year-old has also recorded seven steals this season after tallying 21 last year at the same level. Now with 130 games under his belt at High-A with improved year-over-year walk and swinging-strike rates, look for the Cubs' sixth-ranked prospect to get a look at Double-A in the near future. The Dominican should be knocking on the door to the majors at some point in 2026, and with solid hit, power, and run tools, even redraft managers should get to know his name.

Jefferson Rojas Launches Two Home Runs

Chicago Cubs infield prospect Jefferson Rojas went 3-for-4 with two home runs and three RBI during their contest against High-A Fort Wayne. Rojas has enjoyed an impressive surge at the plate at High-A. Over his last 11 contests, the 20-year-old has posted a stellar .405/.458/.762 slash line with one double, one triple, four long balls, five stolen bases, and 15 RBI. Prior to this stretch, the No. 7-ranked prospect in the system held a modest .184/.311/.237 line through the first 10 games of the High-A regular season. Rojas spent most of the 2024 campaign with High-A South Bend and has continued to show growth through the opening month of the season. If Rojas continues to swing a hot bat, he should be in the mix to reach Double-A in the coming weeks.

Jefferson Rojas Tallies Three Hits, Extends Hitting Streak To Seven Games

Chicago Cubs infield prospect Jefferson Rojas went 3-for-4 during Tuesday's contest against High-A Fort Wayne. This performance also extended his current hitting streak to seven games. During this stretch, the No. 7-ranked prospect in the Cubs system has posted an impressive .429/.452/.750 slash line with a double, a triple, two home runs, and three stolen bases. Through the first 17 games of the High-A regular season, Rojas has been quite productive, holding a .288/.368/.455 slash line. Last summer, Rojas spent most of his time at High-A and has shown consistent progression. Fantasy managers should expect the 20-year-old to get the call to Double-A in the coming weeks, especially if he continues to swing a hot bat. Rojas remains on track for a 2026 MLB debut.
