Juan Soto Recovers From the Flu, Back in Tuesday's Lineup

New York Mets outfielder Juan Soto (illness) is feeling better on Tuesday and will return to the starting lineup as the designated hitter while batting third against the visiting Cincinnati Reds and right-hander Chase Burns, according to MLB.com. MJ Melendez is starting in left field and will bat eighth in the order. Soto came down with the flu over the weekend and missed the last two games, but he should be returned to starting lineups in all traditional fantasy leagues now that he's active. The 27-year-old Dominican has already spent time on the injured list this year with a calf strain, but he has made up for lost time of late, going 16-for-45 (.356) with six home runs, 11 RBI, four stolen bases, and 12 runs scored in 12 games since May 12. The four-time All-Star's counting stats may be a bit down due to the missed time, but he has come on strong recently, and fantasy managers will hope that he can pick up where he left off offensively after his bout with the flu. Soto has never faced Burns in his career.

Juan Soto Sitting for Second Straight Day With the Flu

New York Mets outfielder Juan Soto (illness) remains out of the starting lineup for the second straight day due to the flu in Monday's series opener against the visiting Cincinnati Reds, according to MLB.com. Nick Morabito will make the start in left field at Citi Field and will bat seventh against Reds left-hander Nick Lodolo. Carson Benge is serving as the designated hitter for the MEts and will bat leadoff. Soto is still under the weather, but hopefully, he'll be ready to return at some point during this series early in the week against the Reds. Soto has been picking things up at the plate recently, going 14-for-37 (.378) with six home runs, 10 RBI, four stolen bases, and 11 runs scored in his last 10 games since May 14 to raise his season slash line to .294/.390/.559 with a .949 OPS. The 27-year-old four-time All-Star only has 10 homers on the year, but he also missed some time with a calf injury early on. When active, Soto is a must-start in all traditional fantasy formats.

Juan Soto Scratched on Sunday With the Flu

New York Mets outfielder Juan Soto (illness) has been scratched from the team's starting lineup on Sunday in Miami against the division-rival Marlins due to the flu, according to Abbey Mastracco of the New York Daily News. Manager Carlos Mendoza said the flu has been going around the clubhouse this week. Tyrone Taylor is starting in left field and is batting eighth, while MJ Melendez is serving as the designated hitter and is batting seventh against Marlins right-hander Tyler Phillips. Fantasy managers will want to make sure Soto is out of their starting lineups for the series finale in South Beach and check back on Monday to see if he's feeling good enough to play in the series opener back in New York against the Cincinnati Reds. Soto got off to a slow start in 2026 and landed on the injured list with a calf injury, but he has been money of late, hitting .356 (16-for-45) with six home runs, 11 RBI, four steals, and 12 runs scored in 12 games since May 12. The four-time All-Star and six-time Silver Slugger winner has seven multi-hit games in that span. Soto is a must-start in all traditional fantasy leagues when he's active.

Juan Soto Remains Locked in, Goes Deep Twice in Loss to Nats

It's an understatement to say that New York Mets superstar outfielder Juan Soto is locked in at the plate right now. Soto went 2-for-4 at the plate with two home runs and three RBI in Wednesday night's loss to the hosting Washington Nationals in D.C. The 27-year-old Dominican is now hitting .299 on the season with a .951 OPS. He missed some time early in the season while going on the injured list with a calf strain, but he is quickly making up for lost time and has hit five home runs and produced nine RBI during his current seven-game hitting streak. Soto's multi-homer game on Wednesday was the 29th multi-homer game of his career. In addition to his .299 batting average, the four-time All-Star and six-time Silver Slugger winner now has a .392 on-base percentage, .559 slugging percentage, 14 extra-base hits, 20 RBI, 21 runs scored, and four steals on the season in just 34 games played. Unfortunately for the Mets, not even Soto's hot hitting has been able to carry them, as they sit seven games under .500 and last in the National League East. Soto will be looking to stay on a tear this weekend in Miami against the division-rival Marlins.

Juan Soto Back in Lineup on Thursday After Injury Scare

New York Mets outfielder Juan Soto (ankle) is back in the starting lineup for Thursday's series finale at Citi Field, serving as the designated hitter and batting third against Detroit Tigers right-hander Keider Montero, according to MLB.com. Soto fouled a ball off his ankle early in Wednesday's game against Detroit and was later pulled from the contest, but he's back in there a day later after X-rays came back negative. It's great news for a banged-up and struggling Mets squad. Fantasy managers will be hoping that the 27-year-old Dominican can get on track at the plate going into the weekend. Soto enters Thursday's play with a .263/.357/.444 slash line with an .801 OPS, only four home runs, 11 RBI, 11 runs scored, and a stolen base in 99 at-bats. The four-time All-Star already spent time on the injured list with a calf strain, which hasn't helped him find his groove at the plate in 2026. He has a .502 OPS with one homer in May so far. Soto is hitless in just two career at-bats versus Montero.

X-Rays Come Back Negative on Juan Soto's Ankle

Updating a previous report, X-rays came back negative on New York Mets outfielder Juan Soto's right ankle on Wednesday night, and he is considered day-to-day, according to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com. Soto fouled a ball off his ankle in the third inning and was eventually pulled in the seventh frame. Before leaving, the All-Star outfielder was hitless in three at-bats with a strikeout as the designated hitter. He was replaced at DH by MJ Melendez in the team's eventual 10-inning, walk-off victory over the Detroit Tigers. The Mets and fantasy managers can breathe a sigh of relief, but Soto could be held out for a few days as a precaution. The 27-year-old Dominican superstar has already spent time on the injured list in 2026 due to a calf strain, and he has yet to really hit his stride offensively, as he entered Wednesday's action slashing .271/.366/.458 with an .824 OPS, only four home runs, 11 RBI, 11 runs scored, and a stolen base in 96 at-bats.

Juan Soto Exits Wednesday's Game Early with Ankle Injury

New York Mets outfielder Juan Soto (ankle) was removed from Wednesday's contest against the Detroit Tigers due to an apparent ankle injury. Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reported that the superstar outfielder fouled a ball off his ankle in the third inning and looked to be in pain. While he remained in the game for a few frames, the Mets opted to play it safe and eventually replaced him later in the contest. Fantasy managers should continue to pay close attention to his status after Wednesday's contest and ahead of Thursday's game against the Tigers. Soto missed time earlier in April due to a calf injury and could potentially face his second extended absence of the young campaign. However, when on the field, Soto has looked like his typical self, launching four home runs with a stellar .386 xwOBA through 27 games. If he were to miss time, Austin Slater and MJ Melendez would likely see more starts in left field.

Juan Soto Could Return to the Outfield This Weekend

New York Mets outfielder Juan Soto (forearm) could return to playing the outfield this weekend in Anaheim against the Los Angeles Angels, manager Carlos Mendoza told Jorge Castillo of ESPN. Soto was initially limited to designated hitter after returning from his calf strain last week before dealing with left-forearm tightness. In seven games since returning from the 10-day injured list, Soto has picked up where he left off offensively, going 7-for-24 (.292) with two home runs, a double, three RBI, and two runs scored in seven games played. The 27-year-old Dominican All-Star continues to be an offensive force for the Mets and for fantasy managers, and he's a must-start in all traditional leagues when he's active. Overall in 55 at-bats in 2026, Soto has a .327/.422/.545 slash line with a .967 OPS, three homers, eight RBI, and five runs scored. Even with Soto returning to the outfield soon, both MJ Melendez and Tyrone Taylor could see expanded playing time in New York going forward with Luis Robert Jr. (back) landing on the IL on Thursday.

Juan Soto Doesn't Have a Target Date to Return to the Outfield

New York Mets outfielder Juan Soto (forearm) said his forearm injury is progressing, but he doesn't have a target date to return to the outfield, according to Jorge Castillo of ESPN. Soto said he would play catch again on Wednesday and stretch out to a longer distance. The 27-year-old has dealt with some forearm tightness since returning from the injured list due to his calf injury, but he continues to serve as the team's designated hitter. Soto doesn't appear to be too bothered by his forearm at the plate, though, as he's gone 3-for-3 with a solo home run and a double in the team's current game against the Washington Nationals on Wednesday. The four-time All-Star and six-time Silver Slugger came into Wednesday's game hitting an even .300 (15-for-50) with two home runs, seven RBI, and four runs scored. Soto's counting stats are down after spending time on the IL recently with a calf injury, but now that he's back, he's an obvious must-start every day in traditional fantasy leagues, even if he's just serving as the DH for a while longer.

Juan Soto Dealing With Forearm Tightness, Serving as DH on Tuesday

New York Mets outfielder Juan Soto (forearm) reported forearm tightness on Friday, manager Carlos Mendoza told Jorge Castillo of ESPN. The skipper said that Soto had an MRI exam on Tuesday, and his arm is structurally sound. Mendoza is hoping that Soto can play the field "in the next few days." Since coming off the 10-day injured list due to a calf strain, the 27-year-old Dominican has not played the field. Soto is the DH again on Tuesday and will hit second for the contest against the visiting Washington Nationals and right-hander Zack Littell. In five games since returning from the IL, Soto has gone 3-for-15 (.200) with no RBI, no runs scored, six walks, and two strikeouts. Overall in 13 games played in 2026, the four-time All-Star has hit a cool .304 (14-for-46) with a homer, five RBI, and three runs scored. Soto is hitting .167 in six career at-bats against Littell, but that shouldn't deter fantasy managers in any formats from starting him during Tuesday's slate of games.
